Loved this hotel!
We went to Istanbul after spending 11 days in Monte Carlo and Como area. I have to say this part of the trip was unbelievable. This area of istanbul is among the most beautiful places we have seen. The hotel is walking distance to most historic places and the farthest was the Bazar (20 minute walk). We walked up the street for less than five minutes and there was the Hypodrome in front of us. Another 2-3 minutes of walking and we were between the Blue Mosque and Aya Sofia. The hotel staff were mostly fluent with English and very polite,... more
A good place to start and finish our trip
We stayed here at the start and finish of our trip and we couldn't find any glaring problems with the rooms although the service was at times a little slow, but maybe this was because of it being the low season. The hotel had all a traveller would need, without a ridiculous pricetag of some accomodation in Istanbul.
Five-star accommodations with a three-star price
In December of 2006, my wife and I traveled to Istanbul for a twelve day stay. Before booking our hotel, we did a web search and browsed the photos of the various hotels in the district we wished to stay. We chose the Erguvan for its open and modern look. Little did we know that it would turn out to be so much for than that. In our sixties and with all our children living elsewhere in the world, we delight in traveling. We have experienced many fine hotels over the years, and now put the Erguvan up with the best. Here are the... more
Charming!
A girlfriend of mine and I stayed there for a week and from the moment we walked through the door, the experience was wonderful. The staff was extremely helpful, friendly and honest. Their hospitality made us feel like we were part of a family, plus they were very knowledgeable about sightseeing and shopping. Also, as two single women traveling alone, we felt very safe and comfortable staying in the area in which the hotel is located. It is also within walking distance of many historical sites, shops and restaurants. The internet... more
A delight
We moved to this hotel after a bad experience at the Poem (see review), and it was lovely. Clean, spacious, comfortable room, with friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was served up on the terrace - though it was a bit too cool to sit out. Nothing special, but plenty on offer. It was exactly what we were looking for. I would certainly stay here again, the next time I go back!
great experience
It was my first time in Istanbul. i was there with my cousin for 3 days in August 2006 and stayed at Erguvan, which is a small cozy hotel, with good prices, nice, clean rooms and great view from the roof. We took walks all day since everything was around us. The staff was amazingly friendly and smiling. I would like to thank Hakan, the manager for helping us when we needed to rent a car and Eyub the receptionist for suggesting us to take the Bosphorous cruise and for the information about the nice fish restaurant at Kup Kapi.... more
felt like home
I have been in Istanbul many times staying at different hotels. This time a friend suggested Erguvan so i went there. It was a great choice. Nice, clean room, tasty breakfast on the roof with a great view of the sea and Blue Mosque and perfectly located, so close to all the historical sight seeings Hippodrome, Hagia Sofia, Top Kapi, Blue Mosque and Grand Bazaar. Above all i would like to thank the staff, especially the manager Hakan Oner and the receptionist Eyub because they were so friendly and helpful, giving me tips about the city... more
Indifferent service at Erguvan Hotel
I'm a bit surprised by all the great reviews...particularly regarding the service. At best, the hotel staff showed complete disinterest in our custom, and at worst, were incapable even of completing the simplest request of a packed breakfast the next morning as we had to leave prior to the normal breakfast hours. I had one enjoyable conversation with a female receptionist, but the others (males) were apparently bored to death of their jobs. The girl in charge of the breakfast room looked downright surly. Also, get there before 9:00am for... more
Great Location
We spent 10 days at the Erguvan, a boutique hotel at the doorstep of the many tourist attractions in the old section of the city. The hotel is comfortable and very much up to date, complete with a rooftop terrace with breathtaking views of the city. The free internet access in the lobby helped keep us in touch with home via e-mail. We found the hotel staff courteous and helpful. A few suggestions. The hotel website offers courtesy airport pick-up for guests who stay four nights. However, because we booked thru Orbitz and... more
Pretty Good
They offered a free pickup from the airport and a cash discount on the stay. You can even get a free drop-off to the airport if you haggle in advance. The staff are really nice, especially the males. I went with my family and they gave us a large room and stuck extra beds in it so that we could all be together. The breakfast is good, but get up early as the food starts to run out. The air conditioning isn't great for the bigger rooms. I would stay again but would haggle on price and extras. Overall very good.
