Ibrahim Pasha Hotel

We were "lucky" enough to get the honeymoon suite in this hotel. This is the room that all of the interior photos were taken of. The wide angle lens makes the room out to be much bigger. To say it was small, would be an understatement. The ceiling in some areas was less than 5 feet, so being 6 feet, I banged my head several times. I'm not going to beat around the bush here, staying in this hotel was like packing yourself into a very nice tin of sardines. Yes it's true, you cannot deny the furnishings were complimentary, but there were features to this hotel that may prove unnerving to some. Might I try to explain our experience... Upon our arrival... Having stayed one night at another hotel nearby, the Legend, not to our liking, we immediately went out and purchased a book called the "best little hotels in Turkey" . We had used this on previous trips and its recommendations were usually reliable.We booked for the one night we would need on our return to Istanbul from a tour of Western Anatolia. I agree with some of the other reviews that the standard rooms are very small, but I also got a great rate of 70 Euros a night so wasn't expecting a suite. Plus, my partner and I could have upgraded to a deluxe room if we thought we were going to spend more time in the room. What we did get was a very cute hotel that was clean, pleasant, well decorated, and in a great location for a first time visitors to Istanbul. Pasha is a nice ‘boutique’ hotel in the heart of old Istanbul however it is overpriced in my opinion and not good value for money. For a €175/night and boutique-type amenities (i.e., not many), we expected more. The room and bathroom were very small, cramped and did not have any views. The web page pictures are misleading. For €175 in Istanbul I expect to be able to bend over in the shower. The terrace is also very small and lacks the atmosphere of other hotels terraces. We stayed in standard room for 4 days. We felt like we were in the prison. The room is too small, have no space to walk, even when we wanted to walk around our own bed. The bathroom is also too small, when one is in the bathroom, another one has to be outside. If I have to go to Istanbul again in the future, I will definitely not go to this hotel. We feel like we have been robbed (pay more for nothing). For the staffs, some are good some are bad.

When we arrived at Istanbul, the ibrahim Pasha sent someone to get us fromthe airport. The rooms had just had a makeover and were beautifully redecorated with a flat screen TV and lovely muted colours. Unfortunately they couldn't resist putting a naff garish picture on the wall after a couple of days. We chose the Ibrahim Pasa after reading reviews on various websites - and it certainly lived up to the rave reviews. The rooms are clean and simple but very comfortable and the whole hotel has a great atmosphere - with great staff and perfect location for exploring the facinating city of Istanbul. I would certainly recommend this hotel.

Hotel Ibrahim Pasha is just lovely. It is conveniently located by the Hippodrome which makes walking most anywhere in the Old City simple and it also has a wonderful roof top view of the Blue Mosque and its minarets. The staff could not be more professional but also just so warm and friendly. We stayed in Ibrahim Pasha in August 2004 and we absolutely liked it very much. It is one of the small restored Ottoman houses in Sultanahmet. It is decorated in a stylisly modern way without overplaying the Ottoman card. The staff is so friendly and helpful with every question or need that we had. It has one of the most central locations in the nistorical Sultanahmet area.
