Allstar Pierre Loti Hotel

I stayed at the Pierre Loti for 4 nights in October 2008. The location was great for sightseeing in the 'old city' Sultanhamet. Close to lots of cafe's, people watching, mosques, the hippodrome, Grand Bazaar, etc. The staff was very professional and helpful. Could not have asked for better. A friend and I, both in our 30s, stayed at the Pierre Loti for a few days in early Oct '08. The staff spoke basic English and communication posed no problems. Everyone was accommodating and friendly. The hotel's location is superb, smack in the middle of Sultanhammet and on the tram line, which saves precious time if your sightseeing interests are primarily in the Old City. Me and my family (with 2 kids) stayed at the hotel for 5 days in Sep'08. I definitely would recommend it to both couples and families. A clean and nice hotel with friendly staff who were very accomidating to our requests especially towards the children. Although most staff speak little english, the young girl at the reception, Merve was very helpful and spoke good english. The chief (supervisor) was also quite helpful. Our family of four (2 adults, 2 kids aged 12 & 8) stayed here for 7 nights in June. We were picked up at the airport by the courtesy van which was very convenient! Check in was efficient and courteous, the young girl at the front desk was more than helpful, as were all the staff at the hotel. For the price we paid, this was a fantastic hotel. It's on a side-street just off Divan Yolu - the main road in Sultanhamet (the old town - where the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia and the Topkapi Palace are). It's a little boutique hotel with a small but nice reception/lobby area and bar area. The staff are fabulous and are always ready to help out with anything at all. Booked this hotel via Lastminute.com, so not sure what to expect. However very pleased with it, excellent and helpful staff most of whom spoke good English, and the young lady who manned the reception desk was extremely helpful. Couple of minor gripes, not enough shelves in the cupboard, and no tissues in the bathroom, minor trivialities. My husband, I and twelve-year old son spent a lovely 4 nights at this hotel. The location (in walking distance to all the tourist spots of Istanbul) really couldn't be better. At the same time, one did not get the feeling of being in a crowded or busy area either. The view from the rooftop is great, and our room had an atmospheric street view, where we could sit and watch the trams go by! We stayed there 3 nights in May and had a great experience. Located in Sultanahmet it is close to all the major attractions of old town Istanbul. Aya Sofia, Blue Mosque, Cistern, Hippodrome and the grand Bazaar are all just minutes away by walk. The tram station Cemberlitas is close by if you want to use it. Breakfast is adequate with pastries, bread, yoghurt, jams, honey olives and meats, and you can add freshly squeezed juices and eggs to order for extra money. very good location especially in the old town of istanbul. near to tram station and tourist attraction areas in sultanahmet. i've spent 4 nights in this hotel but quite dissapointed with the service especially the cleaniness of the room. the breakfast was just ok. i would say this hotel should be 3 star rated and not 4 star. however, istanbul city was great. luv it so much.
