Splendid.
Great location, felt safe at night, excellent breakfast (with great views over the Marmara sea), helpful friendly staff, good a/c in room, powerful shower.
Cosy, Centrally Located Place With a View!
Our travel agent booked us into the Tashkonak Hotel for one night at the beginning of our 12-day Turkey trip, and for two nights at the end, as we would be flying out of Istanbul. We loved the ambience, cosy and homelike. We had a view of the lovely garden on both occasions, and the restful atmosphere was unbelievable, a haven in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Sultanahmet. The view from the breakfast room at the top of the hotel is amazing, looking over the Bosphorus, with gulls swooping near the windows now and then.<br... more
Very friendly and clean
I stayed in the Tashkonak Hotel for a week from July 29th to August 4th. I was made very welcome right from the start and the staff were very helpful. This was very important for me as a female travelling alone. I disagree entirely with the Aussie who says the area is intimidating for females. I never felt intimidated at any time in the area around the hotel although I constantly had to leave and return to the hotel alone. Okay, it's not a 5 star hotel, but the staff did everything they xould to make my stay pleasaont. The... more
Home away from home TashKonak hotel in Sultanahmet area, june 24-30 2007
Our Family of 4 and my brother's family of 3 stayed here for one week. The staff was so friendly and helpful in everyway. They made sure we had rooms across from each other, so the kids could move back and forth easily. We loved the view from the terrace at breakfast over looking the Marmara Sea. I wish I could remember everyone's name, but everyone there made us feel like we were their own special guest. In the late afternoon we enjoyed tea or a beer in the beautiful garden before heading out to dinner. I asked for a fan, and they went... more
fantastic view, charming staff
I can only repeat what former visitors already have written about the Tashkonak Hotel: It is a place with a very friendly atmosphere, located close to sights like the Aya Sofya and Sultanahmet Mosque, as well as to the next tram station. The rooms are lovely old style, absolutely clean and comfortable. The breakfast buffet was decent, but what was best about breakfast was actually the breathtaking view from the fabulous roof terrace. The staff is extraordinarily friendly and helpful and provided excellent service.
will return one day
Our stay at the Tashkonak could not have been better. Our prearranged taxi, booked through the hotel, was there to meet us at the airport and we were taken straight to the hotel. On our arrival we were greeted very warmly and offered a tukish tea in the small coutyard area. A most relaxing start to such an energetic and bustling city. The hotel location was perfect. Quiet enough to relax at night yet superbly situated with the Blue Mosque only a stones throw away. The staff too couldn't have been more helpful. Always cheerful and... more
Excellent family run hotel
Great small family run hotel in an excellent position in the old city. Staff could not have been more helpful.
Expect more than you see.
Don't be put off by the imediatae area when you arrive. This hotel is perrfectly placed for everything and just minutes from the main attractions. The staff are extremely helpful and the views from the terrace in the eveing looking over the Bosphorous with the Blue Mosque lit up behind are fabulous, as is the tranqulity of its secluded garden. The rooms are pefectly adequate and clean with great showers and (bliss) efficient air conditioning. If you're arriving at Ataturk make sure you request their airport pick up at only 5 Euros per person.
Great Introduction to Turkey
I stayed here with my two teenage children for four nights before and after Anzac Day 2007. We loved every minute. Ideally located near the Blue Mosque, this hotel had everything we needed: Reasonable rates for those on a budget, good clean, spacious family rooms, a decent breakfast each morning, access to the internet, transfers to and from the airport, and best of all, fantastic staff. From storing our bags for a few days while we toured the country, to providing apple tea at the end of a tiring day, nothing was too much trouble.... more
Hotel Tashkonak - a hidden gem in Istanbul
Our stay at the Tashkonak couldn't have been better. The hotel is on a side street in Sultanhamet in Istanbul. Our room was small, but had comfy beds with down comforters, an excellent air conditioner, a room safe and a spotless marble bathroom. The hotel staff went overboard to make sure we had everything we needed and were very helpful with directions, information and extra towels. The rooftop restaurant had a yummy breakfast and closeup views of the Blue Mosque (you should see it at night!!) and the Bosphorus Sea. Beautiful. The... more
