Pleasant Room, Indifferent Staff
We stayed at the Carlos V for 2 nights. Our room was a good size with brightly colored walls and paintings. The bathroom was large and newly redone. As someone else mentioned in her review, the walls are thin. We had a screaming child next door, but this could have happened anywhere. Our main reservation about the hotel was the indifference of the staff. They weren't unhelpful but gave minimal information. An example - The hotel desk gave us directions to the garage to park our car (which was in the same building as the hotel, but in... more
Definately NOT recommended.
We were told that they had over booked and could not accommodate us and the staff act as though they don't really care. Finally a really small room (not double) was for us. The shower didnt work and they were very unhelpful, we are two in the room and they only give us a bath kit. We as for another one but it never comes. Also, the room was very noisy. Definately NOT recommended.
fantastic city, great place to stay!
we stayed at the carlos v in feb...a snowy time of the year in granada but much less crowded than peak times which was good. we were not cold in the carlos v as there as individual air con/heating units in the room, ample hot water (v snazzy shower/bathroom) and hot drinks available from a little bar in the reception. the hotel was in a fantastic location easily reached from the airport bus stop. there were also loads of fantastic cafes and resturants serving excellent quality, reasonably priced food a stones throw away. the area was... more
Fantastic Place
A small one star hotel with fantastic rooms. We had a suite (£50.00 a night) with 4 poster, balcony, jacuzzi bath. The staff were very helpful and it was 10 minutes walk upto the Alhambra. You could get coffee pastries, juice for breakfast but we went to a great bar with very friendly staff just across the square.
Fantastic budget hotel
We stayed here for three nights and were pleasantly surprised by this hotel. It has a central location we could be in most parts of the city after 15 minutes brisk walking - it is nearer 40 minutes to walk to the Alhambra however only very expensive hotels are close and it is a pleasant walk albeit uphill all the way. The entrance is a little off putting but don't be put off. It is on the fourth floor of an office building. However while not hotel like the entrance is pleasant and well maintained. For the price we were expecting... more
Excellent value for money
Don't let the non-descript facade of the building put you off. Inside the decor is smart and the fact that it has recently been renovated is obvious. The free internet is a very nice touch. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was very well appointed with a big shower cubicle (no horrible curtain sticking to your legs), snazzy hydro-massage shower and plenty of hot water. The hotel is in a great central location, perfect as a base from which to explore the sights of Granada. If I was being picky I'd say that the furniture,... more
Value for money
Last week stayed in the Carlos V Hotel in Granada, Andalucia. The hotel is located in the city center in an appartement on the 4th floor. Parking garage is next to the hotel and costs €14/day (very close parking...) The rooms in the hotel are not very large but comfortable. I read that in 2004 it was renovated and you can see that in the furniture and the sanitair which was beautiful. We didn't use the breakfast because that was too simple (and costs really nothing...a few euros)...quite normal in Spain.
What a great place
I visited Granada November 2005 and this hotel was great. The photos don't do it justice. Completely renovated rooms and bathrooms (some of you might want a more ornate traditional decor, but this was clean and new). They had a computer for free internet sitting by the front desk. My room had a view overlooking a fountain and plaza (the hotel starts on an upper floor of a mixed use building). Great views of Granada (the hotel was on a hill). Walking distance to the Albaicin neighborhood (very bohemian) and more importantly The... more
Lovely room but Noisy
I stayed at the Hotel Carlos V between Oct. 14 and 16, 2005. I paid 39 euros night, not including the VAT tax. No continental breakfast was included. The best reason for staying at this hotel is the location, cleanliness of the room, and free internet. The hotel is within walking distance of restaurants and the main attractions (except for the Alhambra, of course, which you need to take a bus or walk to). Some of the staff speak English. The hotel is located on the 4th floor so you need to buzz them at the door and go up the elevator... more
good place o stay granada
good frendly place to stay, very central, and reasonable, much better than other hotels I looked at in the area, you could miss it because it starts on the fourth floor of the building, well worth the effort to stay there thank you
