My husband and I have stayed at the Nena Hotel in Sultanahmet for our last 2 trips to Istanbul. I recommend this hotel to anyone considering staying in the old city. This is why ... Staff - Everyone is so friendly and helpful, from the transfer from the airport, to the front desk on arrival, the breakfast room and restaurant staff, and the people who cleaned the rooms and kept the hotel spotless. We have chosen this hotel after reading the reviews of other Tripadvisor users. We are very happy to confirm all (very) positive ratings: The hotel is in the heart of the historic district, only minutes away from Agia Sofia, Blue Muschee and Topkapi palast. The view at these attractions and Bosporus from the rooms on the 4th floor and the breakfast terrasse on the 5th are superb. Deluxe rooms are nice and well equiped. I did a lot of research before choosing Hotel Nena for my pre-cruise stay in Istanbul. What worried me the most was the lack of reviews on this & all websites I visit. After exchanging frequent e-mail questions (which were answered immediately), I decided to take a chance. By booking early through the internet, they offered some very nice perks (discount, airport/ship transfers in addition to buffet breakfast & free internet). From the moment of our arrival until our departure 7 days later the Staff of the Hotel Nena were unobtrusively attending to our every need. Breakfast with the most magnificent view in Istanbul was all one could wish for and the food and service in the Dining Room was outstanding. Our room was small but above European Standard-the bathroom whilst small was more than adequate the shower was great. Additional services were available by simply asking. When we return to Istanbul we will be staying at the Hotel Nena.

Can't beat the location of this hotel - right between the Grand Bazaar and the Blue Mosque. Staff is very friendly and extremely helpful w/suggestions & directions. I was able to check in immediately upon my arrival (10:00am) and the room was clean/bed comfortable. The only issue I had was that the rooms don't have a safe in them...however the front desk will put your items in a safety deposit box for you w/out any hesitation. All in all, highly recommend this charming hotel!

I was a guest (2nd time) at Hotel Nena and the service and accomodations were great for this class of hotel. We were there 10 days. They exceeded my every expectation, as with my prior experience 2 yrs ago. Stayed here both coming and going during my recent 2+ week trip to Turkey for 3 nights each time in mid April and then early May. I had a great, flawless stay both times. Arriving at Istanbul Airport after 14 hours of flight time and 20+ hours of travel from California I was met by the hotel's driver as I exited customs. We stayed at the Nena Hotel from 5April till 12April, the hotel is located just a few steps from the main tram line, the rooms are quaintly decorated, and the staff are incredible.. Bfast was good, always a healthy selection and promptly re-filled. All floors have wireless internet access free. We spent 4 nights in the Hotel Nena, which is very centrally located in a quiet side street in the heart of historic Istanbul. Our room was small, but comfortable and very well maintained. It was also quiet: the hotel must be, I guess, 70 or so years old, and is solidly built. Breakfast is taken in a light and airy rooftop restaurant which also has a balcony with three or four tables. April 4, 2006 Stayed at the Nena 6 nights end of March. Looking for a hotel I went down Tripadvisor's list and the first one that had a opening was the Nena. It's the hotel that most travelers look for. The location is great, very clean, good breakfast, and friendly staff. Our room was european normal. My only minus would be the marble floors, high heels very noisy late at night
