Hotel Pamphylia

The hotel is located 5 minutes walk from most major attractions in istanbul, like the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia and the Grand Bazaar. Tram line is almost on the door step literally a few steps from the hotel. Location was really good-close to everything. You HAVE to go eat at the owners restaurant....oh my!! (wonderful food and service!!! it was a great way to try a taste of traditional Turkish food). Front desk helped me in finding a traditional Turkish shirt at local store. Would have been more convenient to have wireless in the rooms, not just in the lobby & 1st floor. Food and room adequate for a couple of days - and hotel is near all the main tourist attractions. The best thing, however, was the helpfulness of the manager, without whom we would not have been able to book our ferry across the Marmara Sea for our onward journey. We found the staff to be friendly and caring. The owners are friendly and approachable. They would like to improve the situation there and welcome suggestions from clientele. We found the location to be excellent, with very easy and quick access to the major highlights of the city, the docks and shopping. Our travel agent provided us with a low-cost if small room with a tiny shower. We stayed at this Hotel for the Formula 1 Grand Prix. The facilities were in line with the price, basic but clean. While the hotel wasn't that flash, the staff and location made up for all of that. It was just below the Topkapi Palace and Aya Sofia, central in the old town. The staff were very helpful and enjoyed having a joke with us whenever we were coming home or leaving the hotel. Besides the showers which were unbearably small with no shelf to put anything on, the accommodations actually were not that bad. The breakfast also was a nice Turkish breakfast. With that said I would never travel there alone, the hotel staff left me feeling very uneasy and uncomfortable and we always found it better to go to a nearby hotel to ask for directions or help with anything.

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Pamphylıa. The staff made us feel lıke famıly and we would defınıtely stay here agaın. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were clean. The locatıon ıs wıthın walkıng dıstance of all the great sıghts Istanbul has to offer and also wıthın walkıng dıstance to the traın statıon as well. The only good thing I can say about this hotel was the staff was friendly. The hotel itself was run down, The two nights that I stayed at the hotel I could not sleep because the beds were so bad, The mini bar in the room had no water in it so at 2 in the morning I had to go down stair to buy a bottle, The Breakfast was so poor that the second morning we went out to eat, Save yourself a horrible stay and don't book here, Turkey however was great!!!! I, and two other friends, were invited to Istanbul by a local businessman whom we knew from his visits to America! Our friend found and recommended this hotel for us. The owner of the hotel and staff were so caring for our needs, comfort and safety, it was like finding an extension to the family we had never known about! I've booked online to stay at the Hotel Pamphylia, for my first trip to Istanbul to see out 2007. And the Hotel is ideally placed for sightseeing in the Sultanahmet Area of Istanbul. The Pamphylia is a very neat and clean Hotel with Personnel offering a friendly service at all times. They serve a decent Continental Breakfast to start your day off.
