Bairro Alto Hotel

My wife and I vacationed here over Thanksgiving week and it was the best trip we've ever taken. The hotel is beautiful, the staff attentive, and the location can't be beat. We stayed at the Ritz four years ago for our honeymoon and while the Ritz was excellent for all the obvious reasons, the Hotel Bairro Alto was the right choice to experience the intimate, authentic side of Lisbon this time around. My first trip to Lisbon and wow. What a spot, what a hotel. We booked a suite and it was sweet. Beautiful views of a beautiful praca with 24 hour activity. Well done!

What a pleasant, helpful staff. Great lounges to hang out in on the main floor and below. modernly decorated clean rooms. Great concierge.

We stayed for one night at the Bairro Alto towards the end of October. The hotel is in probably the nicest location in Lisbon. The hotel is very central to all the shops and restaurants. We ate at the hotel's restaurant Flores, and found it delicious and the service excellent. The piece de resistance in the hotel is the bar though!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Such great design thoughts.... We stayed with my husbund 3 nights 10-13.11.2006 in this unbelievable hotel. The service is out of this world and the rooms very very nice. the location is best possible in Lisbon. the hotel restaurant is excellent and the roof terrace, too. I highly recommend this hotel for everyone going to Lisbon. We will definetely go back.

I recently booked three nights at Bairro Alto Hotel for the begining of our honeymoon in Portugal. We first booked the room through a discount website but found that we didn't get to choose our room type and that the rates were higher than what the hotel advertised on their website. A chic hotel, wonderfully situated in the buzzy Bairro Alto district, but remarkably quiet and peaceful within. We had a 'prestige' room, which was spacious with a calm, understated decor. Everything in the room worked beautifully - unobtrusive and efficient aircon, subtle lighting controlled by dimmers, etc. Recommend drinking caipirinhas on the top floor terrace, which surely has one of the best views in Lisbon. What a lovely gem of a hotel. Easily one of the most attractive hotels in Lisbon, if not the most attractive. Rooms are small by American standards, but very well designed and absolutely comfortable. The bathrooms are especially lovely, with super deep soaking tubs. And everything is immaculately clean (and new). This hotel was the perfect home base from which to explore Lisbon. We stayed at the Bairro Alto in Lisbon for a weekend in June 2006. We did not pick the hotel ourselves as we were traveling in a group, however it was a great place to stay for our first time in Lisbon. The hotel is located in the Bairro Alto district of Lisbon, which is a shopping district and is very close to the water. This hotel really impressed us. We had booked it after seeing it reviewed in a major American newspaper for a planned long weekend (and first visit) to Lisbon. We travel exetensively throughout the world and have a great deal of experience with 5-star properties large and small. The Bairro Alto measures up with any. As others have written, the staff is the real highlight.
