Fantastic - Great - Everything good!
We have just returned from a week Helios and we were very sad to leave. The hotel is lovely, food was good and resturant staff were lovely. Hotel and bar staff were friendly - some didn't smile much but they were polite. Room was cleaned ever day and the towels change. Helios is very central for the beach and the bars that we liked - 5 minute walks literally. There is so much to do in Benidorm and not enough time to do it. Will be booking again for next year as we enjoyed it so much. Overall I would say we had a ball in Benidorm and the Hotel was fab.
great hotel
After reading some of the reviews I was a bit worried about staying at the Helios, but I am pleased to say there was no need to worry as it was a lovely hotel. The food was very nice with a good selection, not great choices for children but good for adults. The rooms were cleaned every day and were very spacious. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the pool area was lovely. You would be very lucky to get a sunbed as people were waiting for them before they were even put out but there is a grass area where you can sunbathe. I would definitly recommend this hotel and would stay there again with no hesitation.
better than expected
We have just returned from a fortnight at the Helios and it was much better than some of the reviews paint it. The food was much better than i expected always a choice of 2 or 3 meat dishes as well as fish plus salads, on the downside the breckfasts could have been better and were sometimes cold but they did have a microwave if you needed to heat it up, also the desserts were not that good but that did not bother me as i dont have a sweet tooth. The staff in the restraunt were nice as were the maids and reception staff however the bar staff were'nt, there loss i just stopped tipping them! Rooms cleaned every day, lovely pool area and as for towels on sunbeds, that goes on at every hotel and i have seen towels on bed before 8 in the morning before at some hotels, here you could still get sunbeds at 9.30 or even later, the sunbeds were the better type with back rests and a material to lie on not like the hard cheap plastic ones with no back adjust like some other hotels use Also this hotel has the best air conditing that i have know, not a little overworked box on the balcony, its in the centre of the room and even does the bathroom, we were switching it to low on a night and even in the daytime sometimes. On the downside of the rooms the beds were too hard for me Overall i would definitly use this hotel again
Great hotel if cleanliness your priority
Extremely clean. Maid service every day with clean towels. Bedding changed every 3rd night. All staff very polite and willing to help. Restaurant very clean, good choice of food but very repetative especially if staying full board. The lettuce usually had little flies amongst the leaves as if it hadn't been washed properly, and the fruit was past its best. We were a party of 4 persons which meant we were allocated our own table for the duration of our stay. Couples had to share a table which may be a little off- putting. On two occassions we asked for "picnics" instead of returning for lunch, but found the contents very unappetising and went to a cafe instead. Pool area very clean, watch out for people reserving sunbeds before breakfast! Entertainment adequate. but lots of choice in other hotels anyway. Hotel close to all bus stops and very easy to travel to neighbouring towns. La Marina shopping centre has all the "named" shops. 5 mins from beach.
FANTASTIC HOTEL
HAVE JUST GOT BACK FROM OUR HOLIDAY IN THE HOTEL HELIOS IT WAS A FANTISTIC HOTEL, VERY CLEAN AND THE ROOMS WERE CLEANED EVERY DAY. WE HAD THE VIEW FACING ONTO THE MARKET,WHICH CAUGHT THE SUNSHINE IN THE MORNING.THE ROOMS WERE QUITE SPACIOUS TOO. the only down fall to this hotel is the meals , every day was either fish ,chicken , chips, or salad the puddings were nothing special, in fact the fruit was not even fresh looked like they had it a few days as the grapes were all soft, the food was nice but there definatly was no variety at all, especially if you were taking any children there just was not a thing for them. also you was told where to sit at meal times which was very off putting for us. you was very close to the beach and central for the pubs. the pool was ok but was not enough loungers for people we ended up going down to the beach every day as there just was not enough space to sunbathe.
Helios
Me, my friend and her family went to hotel helios. We had read reviews on this hotel before we went and we were feeling abit optimistic about it all-but there was really no need to. We arrived at the hotel and found that it was exceptionally clean also very modern, the rooms were spacious and clean-with maids cleaning it to your choice (door notice). We also read in one review that there was no balconys. LIE! There was balconys, which were also rather big, with your ordinary patio table and 2 chairs. In the pictures we had saw of our pool, we didn't really like the look of it, but once there we LOVED the pool. The pictures really don't do the pool justice. The staff at Helios are very polite and friendly. The food-if you are a fussy eater (like me) then there isn't much to eat i suppose. I basickly lived on their chips all holiday. However if you arent a fussy eater then im sure you would enjoy the food as much as my mate and her dad did. Helios is sitauted right near the bars, and not a long walk atall to the beach (about 5-10 mins, maybe not even that.) The best bars we went into were the rock and roll bar-which have a great variety of shows on, however some are repeated most nights. Also if you are rather young the square would be a good place for a night out (dance music etc) Overall all of us LOVED our stay at Helios and would definatly go back to this Hotel in the future. it was our best holiday by far, thanks to the hotel, its staff and its area. Infact we loved Benidorm & Helios so much that me and my mate are planning a girlies holiday there in a yr or 2, back to Helios.
my stay at helios hotel
we stayed at the helios hotel in march 2007 before we went we had read the reviews here and were starting to regret we had booked it. however we reached the hotel and found our rooms spacious and very clean , my standard of cleanliness is very high and i could find no fault with anything in the room. we ventured to the dining room and was really expecting we would see what was on offer then venture out for a meal which we have done so at numerous hotels, again we were pleasantly suprised the food was lovely hot with a good variety to choose from even the salads selection had every thing you could want in a good salad we left the dining room full and pleasently suprised.we had seen on a review where you had to share the table with another couple we were dreading this however everyone that got seated with someone seem to get on, we got seated with a couple from sunderland ann and billy who were lovely to talk to (ann did say she was a chatter box ) it was great to swap info of the night life and gossip, the table was always there for you no hunting to find a clean table, plates were also cleared away promptly ,overall the food was better than some hotels we have stayed in benidorm. the swimming pool was lovely and warm not overcrowded ever, and looked clean the only downside to this area was that the sun terrace was being relaid so was a little bit restricted at times.would we stay again? certainly .comparing prices we had paid £100 cheaper than some of the other hotels
better than expected
was concerned after reading some very indifferent reviews but was pleasantly surprised. i was travelling with my seventy seven year old mother who is blind and has some swallowing problems. we were given a large ground floor room with a large terrace. it was kept spotlessly clean,. I always managed to find food for both of us (probably easy becasue we don't want everything with chips and are happy to eat different food). the hair dresser was really good with mum although her english was limited and her prices were very reasonable the manicure was half the price mum pays at home. one down side for me was that the swimming pool was closed for renovations and i did not know that i could use a nearby one at another hotel. the hotel was very central which was good for me as i sometimes had to take mum in a wheelchair. the nightime entertainment was more geared up for other european guests but this is not a problem in benidorm with so much other entertainment on your doorstep and at this time of the year really suitable for older visitors
loved it
We have just returned from Helios Hotel Benidorm, We were allocated on arrival ,so couldn't use trusty trip advisor. We found the hotel to be lovely and clean, we enjoyed the food, not the best choices but we were full board, and enjoyed every meal. The pool is closed until the end of november, due to renovation, but you can use the pool in the next hotel. The hotel is in the best place for everything a short walk to the beach, plenty of nightlife, out door huge market, wednesday and sundays.I always think one of the signs of a good hotel is when the spanish stay there and they did. The comments about sharing your table could have good and bad points, we were extremely lucky to have a lovely couple whose company we enjoyed, not so good if you don't like them.
Great hotel, poor food
We are just back from the Helios hotel, the hotel itself is very good, most of the staff are superb, but as anywhere you will get 1 or 2 that are less friendly. The location of the Helios is excellent, 5 mins from the beach, and about 2 mins from the outdoor market, and right next to all the nightlife you could ever want. My only complaint would have to be the food, which was poor at times, we ended up just having our breakfast, and eating out most nights, you could get a 3 course meal for around 15 euro (£10) a head. Overall i would recomend the Helios hotel, but they would need to improve the menu. Also if possible try and request a pool view as the view from the rear of the hotel isn't the best.
