Helios Hotel Reviews
" Hotel was very clean! "
Submitted By: jesswhittThe hotel overall was clean and welcoming
Staff were helpful
The meals were nice but started to get boring around the second week.
The entertainment was a spanish DJ and flamenco dancers. Every night a drunk old spanish man tried to dance along with the flamenco dancers but the DJ shouted at him and he sat down haha.
The pool was clean and big, and had a baby pool in the shade too.
The lifeguard was so GRUMPY! he would shout at children wearing t shirts in the pool but many parents would shout back at the lifeguard so and ignored him. he was rather fat so probably wouldn't of been able to save anyone anyway.
The other people staying at the hotel were lovely, we made some great friends.
The bar stayed open till about 1am, sometimes later depending on how busy it was.
We went to a local karaoke bar called 'Rainbow' but my friend had her bag stolen but luckily her husband managed to grab it off the robber. but beware of the pick poketers!!
i enjoyed my stay at the Helios hotel and would reccommend it!

" lovely hotel "
Submitted By: christine tinsleyThe hotel was spotlessly clean, the staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was great, large selection every day and very well cooked, there was always fresh fruit available and a good selection of main meals ans well as desserts. The heated pool was lovely and there were plenty of sun loungers available. I would definitely return to the Helios.
Advice: Benidorm is brill, something for everyone. You can have a quiet or lively holiday, its up to you.
Activities: We especially liked the boat trips and visiting the old town.
Good for: Beach

First Choice did not have my tickets at LGW- i queued and waited for them to sort it-they wrote tickets by hand at the last moment.
HELIOS:
The food was the worse ive ever had in my life, nothing was edible! We were told when to eat (8a.m.) no snacks or vending facilities.
Reduced to trying salad, i found an enormous moth soaked in oil as i started my meal. The next morning i found ants crawling all over the cereals and breakfasts.. Pig swill would best describe what was on offer. The hotel pool area was heavily littered, showing the lack of any standards either by staff or guests (mostly over 60's). No one dressed for dinner some never even put their teeth in to eat. Broken sun loungers were all taken by 7.30 am. Benidorm consists of stag/hen booze ups and old farts waiting to be mugged. Touts hassle you everywhere. I saw a skilled team of eight pickpockets working while one guy does the three cups and pea routine. Also two guys with cute monkeys take your photo while pickpockets work. Some shows advertised never happen, you just get to spend your money in that bar. I could go on-youve been warned!

Submitted By: JamesBAll members of staff were extremely helpful and pleasant that includes the reception staff, cleaning staff and bar staff with a special mention to the restaurant manager and his staff to whom nothing was any trouble.
You were allocated a table for the duration of your stay and although I know that does not suit some couples who like to dine alone, we found it no trouble and enjoyed our conversations with the other two guests who shared our table, the real plus side was that as all meals were of a buffet style you could always go to your table upon entry to the restaurant instead of waiting for a table to become available. The tables were kept in an immaculate condition and used dishes removed very quickly and never allowed to build up, the food was of a very high standard during our week stay, always hot and with a excellent choice of dishes that seemed to cater for all tastes and nationalities and were at all times kept in a plentiful supply.
The cleanliness of all public areas of the hotel and the bedrooms were kept to a very high level all though our stay, the only real problem area was the pool area with at least half of the sun beds in a very poor state of repair rendering them not suitable for use. The pool chairs and tables were also unusable because of the dirty condition and although cleaned eventually usually a few hours after the pool opened it was generally down to the guests to find a cloth to clean them.
Rather disappointing that the pool area should let down otherwise what must be the best hotel of its star rating in Benidorm, one I would definitely visit again.

Submitted By: Mrs K HARRISAbout 11pm each night there was some type of act. Parrots on bikes, two Latin American dancers, flamenco dancers, magic act. Bingo and quizzes as well. We were overlooking the pool where the entertainment was so loud take ear-plugs as this music goes on till 12.30am every night. There is a club which is close by and you get revellers coming out in the early hours making a racket.
There was plenty of good varied food for different tastes. The breakfasts were very nice. However, if you go on any trips you need to order a packed picnic lunch before 8pm the night before your trip. All I can say is don’t bother. In the box were 2 seeded burger baps, one with ham and one with cheese. A hard boiled egg, one hard roll we saw the waiter take off the breakfast table but with no butter, warm bottled water, a tomato, a small tin of pate, one rotten apple and a bruised orange.
On our last day we left at 7am so got no breakfast or lunch which we were entitled to, so ordered the breakfast box and the picnic lunch for later as we were going home by coach. We expected croissants and maybe butter and jam plus juice but, surprise, surprise; the breakfast box was the same as the lunch box. But this time no tomatoes. Apart from this small thing we had a great time and would go back to Benidorm again.
The Levante beach is a 5 minute walk. There are plenty of shops and things to do. Bowling along the main road is 5 euros per person. A children’s fairground is next door to that. There is a really nice 18 hole crazy golf opposite the Don Pancho Hotel and that’s 5 euros each. Try the mini train (4 euros per person) at night time so you get to see the many lit up shops while travelling the length of the main road. Mundomar is a spectacular marine park where there are 3 shows. These were sea-lions, dolphins and parrots. It had exotic birds and animals as well. It was great and we booked it via the hotel rep (21 euros each). Terra mitica is a theme park worth seeing and that was cheaper booked with the hotel rep (24 euros) each. If you go to the theme park it opens at 10am. The number 21 bus goes there but does not start until 11am. The bus is good value and all journeys are only 1 euro each way.

Submitted By: Other D&O *The pool looked good but with the hotel only being a 5-10 minute walk to the beach, we didn't use it!
It's close to the shops, bars and restaurants although we tended to avoid the bars in the main square and headed down to the bars on the beach and the old town for live bands.
The choice of food was good, but the quality of the evening meals wasn't so good. There's plenty of places to eat nearby though.
We'd probably stay in this hotel again although we might opt for the old town if we come to Benidorm again.
I'd recommend this hotel to those wanting a nice, clean, central hotel.

Submitted By: Mr T TarpyAccommodation was very clean and comfortable, room services on a daily basis with as many clean towels and linen changes as required.
The pool was very clean, as was the pool area and not too crowded at this time of year. The daytime entertainment/games were very basic and amateurish, but since most people either just swam or went out into town, this was not too important.
More important was the evening entertainment, which seemed to cater for a large group of Spanish couples from outside the hotel; dancing to Spanish recordings or music for line-dancing (again for the same groups). Other entertainment consisted of local acts doing the rounds from one hotel to another, anxious to sell recordings or photos (with snakes etc.).
The main criticism was the food. I did not think it was possible to find so many ways to ruin excellent raw materials, but the chef managed to surprise many of us.
Excellent beef, pork, and fish dishes were ruined by adding strange sauces, such as curry powder to what would otherwise have been a really succulent stewed beef.
I survived mainly on chips (which were quite nice), and salads, which really surprise my wife, since I rarely eat them at home. Incidentally, everyone I spoke to was of the same opinion.
To sum up, my rating would have been 9/10 had it not been for the meals.
