Just back from staying in these apartments, and do not have a complaint about them at all.
It looks as though they are in the process of refurbishing all the apartments and ours was spotless.
A comfy couch, and comfy beds. Cooking equipment, TV, and a huge balcony. The walk down to the new town only takes about 10 minutes, and the old town is only about a 15 minute walk away.
We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

just got back from benidorm, we go every year. this year we stayed in Don Salva appartments. NEVER AGAIN. the appartment was filthy, we had to go and buy bleach and clean everything before we could use it. there were dirty cups in cupboured it was disgusting. there was no 24 hour porter/reception as promised. there was a stag party directly above us and a hen party next door. police had to be called on occasions because of roudy drunks. IT WAS A NIGHTMARE.

these apartments are o'k' for people who are just looking for a room to sleep and get washed and eat in. not really suitable for small children due to the stairs and old fashioned style lifts and dark corridors but perfect for young people in there 20's. Bit of a treck to the beach, but the pool was o.k and the pool toilets were clean. during the day the reception staff are many and english speaking there is a 24 hour reception/ there was some building work going on during the day but we were out most days anyway/

Don Salva Apartments -- Worst...
1 / 10
Sep 2007, Miss C Mcdade

Don Salva Apartments -- Worst S***hole EVAAHH!! If zero was an option it wouldn’t even be worth that!!
But Benidorm itself is a wonderful place, would come back agen but not to the Don Salva!!
Went here with me mam dad and little sister on 25th August, but didn’t arrive in Alicante until Sunday morning night flight! Got there on Sunday 26th at 1:45. Man on reception didnt speak english that well. Got room key. Mam and sister went upstairs in lift 12th floor. When they got to our floor, doors opened and it was pitch black, my mam had to feel along the wall for a light switch, and my sister was terrified, was howling with wind owtside - my sister cried herself to sleep that night thats how scared she was.
In the morning my sister would not go in the lift so until tuesday my mam was walking up and down 26 flights of stairs all day! - and could barely breath!!.
Complained about room and got put on the ground floor!. Areet a suppose.
Pool was empty everyday practically. We met a family there so we were all just going to another hotels pool!
Worst part of the hotel was the building work which was goin on from the 1-7th floor! And the new road was being built at the side of the hotel. The cafe was basically used by anyone, builders would be in there in the morning for breakfast before they started work, and the local police would pop in for a drink, because the police station below the hotel was shut down for the building work that was going on.
We were self catering so we were out everyday for meals etc.. Meals were delicious, drinks were fine. Nightlife was mint!. But coming back at night was a taxi ride because the steep hill that the hotel is positioned on gets called cardiac hill! - cos wen you get to the top your out of breath!!
My family and the family we met went down to the Thomson office thing down the street. Complained and was appaulled at the service of the rep! Cheeki cow what she was! Being Thomsons yah thought yah would have been treated nicely - not with her!
All the spanish clubs were round the corner from the hotel - one club didnt get let out till 7.30 in the morning!! - All the shops around the hotel were owned by spanish people - who could hardly speak english some couldnt! But when you got in the center of the resort it was brilliant. If your looking for a good place to eat try the Yorkshire or the Wooky amazin food, and for the little ones to have a dance and play games try Panchos. If your a football fanatic try Champions bar! Has all the matches on - no.1 pub for live sports. Many clubs for the young and lively too.
I wouldnt reccomend this hotel though for people with familys of small children, but would be ideal for stag/hen parties, or 18 - 30s.
In conclusion it was a wonderful holiday owtside the hotel. Would deffently come bak to Benidorm but stayin in a nicer hotel.
Byeeee!

Ok it’s a bit of a basic dump but you have a balcony, a bed and a pool - you get what you pay for!
If you want the Ritz get your hands in your pockets and pay that little bit more.
A holiday is what you make it and ours was 24 lads on a stag part,y which was a great 5 day weekend.
The people in the hotel gave us everything we asked for and never complained when we rolled in at 8am etc.
The good point about it is that it is in a good location.
Benidorm 2008 here we come!

My husband and I had a lovely week at the don salava apartments in June 2006. After reading the bad reviews about these apartments, we were pleasantly surprised with them.
Although they were very basic, we found the kitchen was well equipped and the location was excellent. The noise you get from traffic etc could be expected anywhere, it being next door to the police station we didn’t see one policeman the whole week.
If you are looking for a no frills cheap holiday, this is the place to stay.

When I first looked at the reports of the hotel I thought it was going to be a right dump hole, but it was nothing from what I was reading the rooms itself was brilliant they was quite big we had a great view from our balcony, the only things that I had to moan about was the cleaners only came in once a week, and I was a bit disappointing that the swimming pool daint open till 9 and shut at 7 when other pools open 7 or never even shut.
When I heard that people could not get any sleep at all because of the scooters and the emergency services going up and down all night, but that was something you could live with. The night life was brilliant we went it a great pub called Churchill’s which was for all the family, the beach was really nice clear blue water you could see where you was walking.
We went to the place Aqualand that was fab. The best place to eat for your all day breakfast is the Geordie bar all I can say is I would definitely go back.

If zero was an option the Don Salva...
1 / 10
Jun 2006, Miss AD Crossan

If zero was an option the Don Salva apartments would not be worthy of it!
Abandoned on the opposite side of the road in the pitch black at 4am by our so called Thomson rep we were left to cross the busy street with our bags and find our own way. If it wasn't for a guest shouting "Don Salva - welcome to hell....!" from one of the apartment balconies we would have went the wrong way. Once inside reception a very rude Spanish man grabbed our passports and £40 off of us an told us a room number while throwing a key across the desk. I don't know if he could understand English but he made no attempt a pleasant greeting.
We went into the lift and up to the ninth floor - where the lights did not work so again we were left in the pitch black not really knowing where to go. We had to use our mobile phones to see room numbers and the keyhole. Once in our room we noticed a funny smell but were so tired that we didn't care. A 4 inch body building bug greeted us in the bathroom but no welcome pack from Thomson.
When we eventually found the Thomson board we had missed the welcome meeting. We did not see a rep all week. The after care is zero.
In a week we did not see a maid - I don't even think they have maids in these apartments to be honest. No clean towels or replacement toilet rolls. They can't even get the basics right at these apartments.
Our bag was snatched on this holiday too. With there being a police station right next door to the apartments we felt it could all be sorted out fairly quickly if the police ever stopped drinking beer and smoking at the bar! The police were almost as unhelpful as the Don Salve staff just ushering us off to another police station which took us ages to find and then they told us to go and phone and come back. Hours to get this sorted out is out of order. There were another 6 people at the police station at the same time as us so watch your bags it happens all the time!
We were allocation on arrival - 2 stars? I think not. People in HMP Barlinnie are better cared for! Do not stay here. We were overcharged. The place is a joke!

Been to Benidorm many times. This is...
5 / 10
Jun 2006, Mr G Thompson

Been to Benidorm many times. This is the second worst apartments we've stayed in. We had a good holiday, but Don Salva is very poor by Benidorm standards.
Cleaning.
Over the 2 week period, the maids changed the beds twice and 3 times threw clean towels in. We were given a total of 2 toilet rolls, the rest we bought or nicked from loos. The most unsanitary part was that there was no toilet brush and after two weeks in Benidorm with a shelf toilet it became too much to bare. The maids must have seen it but ignored it.
Pool
The pool was very basic, but clean. Some sun was blocked out by the hotel in front but most of the area was sunny all day and the water temp' was fine.
Staff
No interest, manners or assistance. We were there during the world cup. The place was effectively closed for the Spain match, yet they didn't screen the England game the following day even though 90% of guests were English
Shop, very basic and dear.
Location.
About 20 minutes walk from the night life, but no problem. At the top of a hill, the mopeds all get up to full throttle. There is a very busy junction and Spanish drivers being Spanish drivers, there is endless blasting of horns all day and night and being next door to a police station and a stone's throw from the ambulance station, hospital and fire station ensures plenty of sirens, with no double glazing to muffle the noise.
Conclusion
We had a great fortnight and Don Salva is very basic but passable. All that's really missing is decent management and motivated staff. Every time we visit Benidorm we see new hotels and apartments being built and completed and stayed at many. All but one of them have better facilities and a completely different attitude to their guests. This place was sparsely populated when everybody else was full.
My advice is look around, you can do much better in Benidorm. This place has hit the self destruct button and is floundering. It is simply a place to crash out when you're drunk, and nothing more.

I went here thinking it was going to...

Jun 2006, Mrs S Hoyland

I went here thinking it was going to be a dump after reading some reviews. I found the apartments very spacious and clean. Ours towels got changed once in the week and you do have to take your rubbish down to the bins provided, but black sacks are provided. I agree that some staff are not too friendly, but there was a lady who spoke good English on the desk in a morning and she was pleasant, when we asked for a low floor they happily gave us one.
I went with two boys aged 9 and 12 and my husband they found the pool great and was in it all the time. There was a bit of shade on the terrace at certain times, but it was a relief because is was so hot. You are realistically about at 10 minute walk to the beach, put there are pubs and shops on your way down. In fact we only went once because the children wanted to stay by the pool.
The bar and supermarket are dearer than the local bars and shops, but then again they normally are anyway. We had a fantastic break and for what we paid it was well worth it.
