Elstead Classic Hotel

The girlfriend and I stayed for a 2 night mini break - mid Feb 07. Having read the previous reviews for the hotel on Trip Advisor.com I was prepared for a good quality, above average, 3 star stay. On arrival we were greeted by a somewhat flustered, young fellow on the front desk. Apparently, he was very busy "sorting out his paperwork". Great hotel & ideal location for beaches in both Boscombe & also for Bournemouth. The rooms were clean & quite spacious. We had breakfast which was lovely but finished at 9.30am even on weekends!!! The whole hotel is non-smoking which I was pleased about. My only complaint was that check out time was 10.30 which was way too early for us when we left Sunday morning but, apprently this is standard for hotels in the Bournemouth area.

The Elstead Hotel was great, not much parking so you need to get there early, check in at 2pm. Stayed in room 123 which although a little too small for two adults and one child it was at least very clean. The room had an iron, a trouser press, hairdryer, TV, fridge, ceiling fan, shower (hot, but the water pressure wasn’t that powerful), bath, kettle, shampoo and shower wash etc. The bed was big and comfortable and the pull out bed was equally comfortable. Just wanted to write and say Elstead was a lovely hotel. After looking up lots of different hotels, I rang them and got a great price as last minute booking. Excellent location if you want to stay in a quiet area but only 10 minutes walk to to town or 15 minutes to beach, so it was nice to be away from the hussle and bussle. My wife and I stayed for seven nights dinner, bed & breakfast at "The Elstead". The hotel is in a quiet street a short distance from the bus and railway stations. The shops and beach are also within easy walking distance. We booked a standard room which was very clean and looked as though it had recently been refurbished. We chose the Elstead hotel for our holiday because the reviews said it was child friendly and we have an 11month old baby. The hotel wasn't child hostile but I they were definatley not pro-active towards the needs of a family with a baby. ie there was no microwave to use, the childrens meal was £10!! and no-one ever asked us if we needed anything for the baby or said say ask at the bar if you would like anything micorwaved. My wife and I stayed at the Elstead for 7 nights. We chose the Elstead because of the generally good reviews in Tripadvisor. Firstly the staff. All the staff, without exception, were pleasant, helpful and friendly. From the inital contact with the Head Receptionist who helped us find 7 consecutive nights in a busy booking period through to the bar and restaurant staff who seemed really pleased to be of service. i have had the privilage of staying at the elstead hotel for the past 5 yeras and my wife and i will be returning again this year for another 2 weeks. i am 32 and my wife is 28 and we find the hotel an absolute delight. the staff are excellent in their manner, the meals are of a superb standard and the rooms are magnificent. we both find this hotel splendid at a great destination and would HIGHLY recommend it. We stayed at the Elstead Hotel in November 2005. We booked two rooms through lastminute, who messed up the booking - but the hotel receptionist sorted it all out for us without any fuss, even allowing us to check in to our rooms two hours early. The rooms were clean and nicely furnished with all modern facilities. The bar was well stocked with a large flat screen TV where we watched England beat Argentina (hoorah!). A lovely hotel. We had a very spacious family room which was very nicely decorated and very clean. The restaurant,bar and lounges were all very spacious and comfy. The leisure complex was excellent for a 3 star hotel with a good sized gym and pool,great changing facilities and a sauna and steam room. The staff are very children friendly and were very helpfull. Overall for the special promotion package we paid it was excellent value for money and would have no hesitation in staying here again.
