I went to this hotel for a long weekend alone and was pleasently surprised at the relaxing and generally laid back environment. The bar staff were lovely although perhaps the resteraunt staff could have been more attending. the views from my rooms were stunning and although negotiating down to the beach can be rocky at best I found the hotel very clean and the food wasn't bad! Lots of interesting local dishes mixed in with the usual burger/chips combinations for those not brave enough to try something new. They possibly have the best cocktail list in the whole island!

Very attractive hotel in a superb location with magnificent views over the two local beaches. Unfortunately these beaches could only be reached by negotiating a very rocky path which would be completely inaccessible to disabled or aged people. This also applies to the hotel which has lots of steps and stairs with no lifts and the outdoor terrace/pool area and restaurant are also only accessible via steps.
The Valparaiso is very clean and well kept and the rooms are of an acceptable standard. The breakfast was quite decent (apart from a gradual watering down/weakened orange juice each morning) but the evening meal left much to be desired with little choice and lack of imagination.
Overall what could have been an extremely pleasant break was spoilt by the generally unfriendly staff and going that little bit further in providing that something special feel.

What a lovely hotel. If your looking for peace and quiet then this place is for you. Very clean rooms, very clean hotel, pool small but well maintained just the ticket for cooling off. The beach is a short walk down some steps which takes about 5 minutes, a lovely clean sandy beach a bit steep to reach though, so not for folks who are unsteady !! Take the car around instead. Food was very good, buffet style, eat as much as you want, a good choice at breakfast and evening meals. Wife vegetarian, you need to inform hotel reception so as they can rustle up something for you.Not many Brits at this hotel mainly Dutch. Nothing for little ones except beach. Oh by the way did I mention cost ? Half board ----------------
