Dom Carlos Liberty Hotel

Ok, the rooms are quite tiny, but they are really modern, clean and well equiped. We got a room with a huge balcony on the topfloor because this was our honeymoon, and the staff always were extra-friendly. The hotel is located very well, we explored the city walking and never had to use the subway or the bus. Breakfast is excellent, with different kinds of bread, fresh fruit, pastries,... For the price we paid, we got excellent service.

Four of us stayed here for the weekend 17th March-19th March 2007. Rooms are small but very comfortable with everything you need for a weekend break. There is a rather quaint arrangement whereby the breakfast room turns into a honesty bar for the afternoon and evening. You just help yourself to what you want and fill in a chitty which you then pass to the receptionist who will add it to your bill. Great pick for Lisbon. Wonderful staff, perfect location, great design. Quiet. Yes, the rooms are small but the price was much lower than other comparable hotels and really - how much time do you spend in there anyway???

Rooms are small, but the corner/street view ones are larger. Bathrooms are also small but overall nicely refurbished. Staff is very friendly and breakfast is sumptuous. Access to public transportation is not a problem. Walk to Rossio along Avenida de Liberdade is pleasant and downhill. We rented a car and were provided a garage for 10 euros/night. There are some but not too many choices for dining around this neighborhood.

We stayed her for a long weekend on first time to Lisbon. Hotel is small but generally nice, rooms clean and adequate. Whilst we thought it looked fairly central if you want to be close to lots of bars etc, its not really the place (although we couldn't get anywhere in Bairro Alto or Chiado at the time of booking). It took definitely 30 mins ish plus to walk back from Bairro Alto on a night/ morning but to be fair a pleasant walk and no problems.
