Dom Carlos Park Hotel

This hotel was OK for my wife and I. Yes, it was very nice but there was some confusion about charges to the internet in the room and the access to it. They charge more for checking the internet in the lobby, and for everything in the minibar in your room. One of the guys in the counter wasn't very friendly. Hotel location is about 1/2 hour walking from the old town and main attraction. It has no restaurant inside. My husband & I stayed here at the beginning of our two-week trip around Portugal & again at the end. It's location is ideal - on the Aerbus route from the airport & very close to both the metro & numerous bus lines. I booked it through the hotel's website; we opted for a superior room. I agree with all the reviews - this is a great hotel and an incredible value. We had a lovely room - with a big tree out the window from the park across the street - so we didn't feel like we were in a city hotel. The room was well appointed/modern. The bathroom was a little small but very functional. The staff were outstanding - very friendly/helpful and seemed genuinely happy to have us there. This was a great hotel with an outstanding value. The service is of the highest quality. The rooms were very nice ( we were even upgraded !!!). The location is prime for access to the downtown locations (Barrio Alto, Baixa, etc...) The breakfast buffet (included in price) is also a nice addition with fruit, pastries, and cereal.

We chose this hotel for a three night stay after reading the internet reviews, and as others have said, the hotel certainly lives up to those reviews. It was absolutely excellent value for money at 83 Euros per night including a good breakfast (including cooked food if you wanted it). Even things like the mini bar were excellent value (2 Euros for bottled imported beer). I booked this hotel via the internet based on the reviews I read from tripadvisor and the great reviews were true. I needed confirmed booking and needed to do this by internet. Stayed there on May 16, 2005 for 3 nights. The Dom Carlos was one of the few Lisbon hotels in the price range that did this. From the onset, the staff were VERY helpful especially the night staff. We (three adults) stayed in this hotel and were more than happy with it. The location is convenient, though it is about a 15-20 minute walk to the Bairro Alto. (Take a cab - they're cheap in Lisbon). The free breakfast buffet was excellent; rooms are very clean and bathrooms are relatively spacious. If you ask for a triple you get one room with two twin beds and a separate side room with a third bed. This hotel is a jewel in a residential neighborhood 1/2 block from Avenida Liberdade and Marques de Pombal. The corresponding Metro station hosts two lines of the Lisbon Metro so it's literally two stops away from the center of Lisbon. Our room was airy and bright, with air conditioning and plenty of closet space besides. We would book again in a moment!

Spent 3 nights at the Dom Carlos Park hotel in early March 2005. The previous reviews on TripAdvisor were right on. The location was perfect as we walked to everything except to the hill top attractions. With 3 people we were booked in a 2 bedroom suite which was next to the elevator, all 2 bedroom suites are this way. No problem with sound because the room was well soundproofed.
