Me and my boyfriend have returned...
9 / 10
Oct 2007, Miss R Shakespeare

Me and my boyfriend have returned from our 1st holiday together and like a lot of people I panicked when I read the horrible reviews the day before we went and the excitement went out the window!
We got there very early in the morning, and my 1st impression was that it all looked very clean and the guy on reception was very friendly and I thought we might be at the wrong place! I’m not very good at following directions so couldn’t find the room but we were helped by a nice security man who saw us looking a little lost!
We woke up early enough to have breakfast and was pleasantly surprised to find the food was bang on and we definitely got our moneys worth during the holiday!
We overdid the bar a bit on the 1st night so didn’t see much of our second day because of monstrous hangovers! (our own fault) but the bar staff were nice enough and there was plenty of drink! People have said the entertainment was rubbish but I actually was very impressed! Very much appreciated the Moulin Rouge show!
So seriously don’t be put off by the reviews, if you pay as little as we did for this holiday, you really can’t complain about a thing!
We had a brilliant time and we will definitely be going back again!

What a disappointment! On arrival my...

Oct 2007, Mr K Skitt

What a disappointment! On arrival my partner and I and 16 yr old son was greeted by a surly receptionist with a cursory (hola)!! Being tired with the transfer from Palma we was given the key to our room.... one room.. a studio...be warned a studio really is one room!!
The next day we were by the pool and needed something from our room, so up I went on the second floor and as I entered I went to the bathroom and to my horror and disgust the floor was alive with ants all over the towels and everything. Off to reception to sort it I went and saw the same receptionist. She sent a cleaner with some ant spray and fumigated the room, this was 10.30am.. by 12 midnight the room was still filled with the spray and wasn't acceptable to sleep in. Back to reception to ask for another room, was told none available and had to sleep there! My partner wasn't happy with that and voiced her concern too eventually given a temporary room.
Two days later we were given an apartment, which was acceptable... till that had an ant invasion. Word of advice... don't get maid to kill them do it yourself, aerosol and a lighter works wonders and smells nicer.
Bar staff were on the whole overworked and sometimes curt but were adequate with the drinks. The lifeguard (joke) was too busy talking to his girlfriend or waiter friend to be by the pool for any length of time, was scared to dip his toes in the water and was adamant NO INFLATABLES were to be used in the pool even going to the extreme of slashing kids toys, to the anger of the parents.
Food... erm undercooked or reheated... eat at your peril.... my partner was in bed for 3 days. The entertainers were excellent with the kids and we were in stitches at some of the shows they put on!! The quiz shows were enjoyable to say they were overworked and understaffed at times .... will miss the place only for the friends we made and the entertainers....... We wont be going back...... Just got back from Eurocalas last...
10 / 10
Oct 2007, Mrs J Baker

Just got back from Eurocalas last night, thought it was great value for money.
Place was very clean. Rooms are standard but everything you needed. Good variety and choices in the restaurant.
Took my 14,15 and a 13 year old girls with us and found there was plenty to do for them.
Close enough to walk to a selection of shops and bars and beach about 10-15 min walk away. There is a train service which takes you to and from beach/shops.
Buses came outside the hotel and was always spot on time and very cheap.
I would recommend this to other families, and can’t wait to book next year’s holiday at Club Eurocalas for plenty of drink, food, and lots of sun.

Sep 2007, Mr J McCarthy N M8s

After me and my mates read the reviews on here to be fair we were crapping our pants for going! After spending all that money for 1 week holiday we were expecting to be robbed, starved and sleeping in a tip !!! We were all very surprised, we arrived and had to wait an hour for our room which is fair enough but it did then take us an hour to find it and all we wanted to do is get our swimming gear on and go into the pool to cool off, but the place is huge.

The rooms were nice, basic but they're only to sleep in and get dressed, your on holiday you don't wana be stuck indoors do you? The entertainment reps were amazing full of fun and very friendly !! Bar staff were hot and found most of them cheery and friendly!! Reception staff were nice to be honest the only fault I found with the place was the food!!! YUK I think I lived on salad and chips for the full week, but I suppose you are abroad embrace the culture huh?
The snack bar during the day made up for it so stuff your face during the day then you wont be as hungry at night!!! Anyway over all we had an amazing holiday and for four 19 year olds we all found it great!! Remember this, you make your own holiday so if you complain the whole way through it don't expect it to be good!! Your on holiday enjoy yourself !!! If your of to the Eurocalas have an amazing time!! bye :P

I've just returned from a fantastic...
10 / 10
Sep 2007, Mrs S Garrard

I've just returned from a fantastic fortnights holiday. We came here two years ago and I was a bit worried that I had made a big mistake reading other reviews - honestly think they went to a different place. Despite being end of season the entertainers were enthusiastic and energetic (admittedly not best I've seen but way better than big brother or the X factor which passes for entertainment here).
My youngest daughter adored miniclub (Hello Juan & Lindsay from Phoebe x) - I had to sign her in and state where I would be - they made different things and played games each day - 'Where's froggie?' was great fun, it may have been idiotic at times but I don't want a holiday club to be like school.
I loved the complete mix of nationalities there which is reflected in the very good range of food provided. We enjoyed tasting different foods. The restaurant had been updated and modernised since our last visit and everywhere was spotless the staff worked tirelessly.

I have 3 daughters aged 5, 13 and 16 and there was something for us all. Imagine my mothers pride!! (and daughters delight and amusement) to see me stand up on stage to receive a certificate for being in the winning volleyball team (I managed to stay out of the way of the ball like a true professional).
My elder two daughters made friends and it was nice to allow them a bit of freedom, whilst still in a protective environment. As for only being allowed three drinks - that's all you can carry anyway. My girls, even the youngest when not busy, went to the bar for their own drinks - the Spanish love children and treated them with great courtesy. It's not that much hastle going back to the bar but it was handy to be able to send my eldest who thought she was cool with an adults wristband. Incidentally even though they serve alcohol to sixteen's and over we didn't see anybody completely senselessly drunk like you see here.
Had brilliant time, would recommend and would love to go back.

First review I’ve ever written but...
9 / 10
Aug 2007, Miss H Smith

First review I’ve ever written but felt I had to let everyone know how much the hotel has changed since the awful reviews previously.
Just got back today from Euro Calas in Calas de Mallorca, 2 adults 3 kids (aged 13, 11 and 10). All had a fantastic time; kids loved it and wanted to stay another week!
The hotel has been taken over very recently by THB group and they've done a brilliant job. Went to a THB hotel in Lanzarote last year and that was very good too, so they seem to be a trusted hotel chain.
All the staff at Euro Calas are friendly and helpful, entertainment team are great, and all speak bits of English. Yes the quiz has to be in 4 different languages but you are in Spain not in Blackpool. And not just British airlines fly to Majorca! Enjoy a bit of culture and you may even learn a bit of Spanish or German.
If you have kids under 14 years old then this hotel will be a very good choice, as the adults have loads of time to chill out around the pool as kids club and activities throughout the day, and mini disco every night. Yes they play the same music all the time but the kids love learning the dance routine and when it's All Inclusive just have another sangria and chill out, your on holiday!
The entertainment team put in 100% whether it is dancing to the 'fun dance' or impersonating Elvis! They are all quite young and from different parts of the EU but this makes it all the more entertaining!
Our room was lovely, new furniture and mattresses etc, and kept clean. Beds and towels changed twice a week, floors cleaned thoroughly once a week. Air conditioning in the room which is good and also no security worries at all. TV in the room but only English speaking is Eurosport and CNN, no music channels, but hardly in the room anyway.
Food and Drinks were good. Loads to choose from. Restaurant for Breakfast, Dinner and Evening meal, and Snack bar through the day. Snack Bar mainly aimed at Kids i.e. Burgers, chicken nuggets, chips etc, and ice creams. Ice pops behind the bar which is handy and all this is included. Restaurant food really good. Staff constantly bringing out fresh hot food and cleaning up tables etc.
Only negatives were that around the pool could be kept cleaner, drains could get a bit whiffy, and also a few broken sun loungers but put both these problems down to being towards the end of season.
But all in all Euro Calas is definitely on the up and please ignore the previous reviews as you won't be disappointed going here if you have kids and want a 3 star All Inclusive cheap holiday. Well worth it.
Happy Holiday!

Booked as a last minute deal before...
7 / 10
Aug 2007, Mrs K Webb

Booked as a last minute deal before reading the reviews. Absolutely dreaded going pleasantly surprised. Resort Hopper included for transfers took around 2 hours from the airport to get to the hotel and almost 3 hours on the way back to the airport.
Reception in the main were helpful, booked a studio which was too small for two adults and 2 teenagers made the most of it.
Room cleaning left a lot to be desired.
Food was hit and miss. Breakfast was fine, lunch at the snack bar was ok but very repetitive, bit of a pain to get dressed to eat lunch in the restaurant which wasn't always the best , tea time very hit and miss, ate out on several occasions.
Entertainment team did try really hard to entertain everyone, not to our taste but others did enjoy it. Restaurant staff in the main were miserable difficult to get a smile out of anyone.
Lifeguard on duty around the large pool did try to enforce safety did however try to enforce one or two strange rules i.e. no T Shirts in the pool difficult to abide by given the heat, no inflatable’s which did cause one or two problems for people who had bought them from the shop at the hotel expecting to use them.
Very little to do in the resort some shops, bars with live entertainment and crazy golf. Really nice beach which was packed during the day well worth a visit in the early evening.
We met some wonderful people, our teenage girls really enjoyed themselves. In fairness to the hotel they appeared to be actively trying to improve standards.
In all we feel we did get value for the money we paid.

I booked the holiday before reading...
7 / 10
Aug 2007, Mrs L J Anderson

I booked the holiday before reading the horrific reviews about this hotel, therefore I was not looking forward to the holiday at all.
However, having paid a little over £1200 for myself, husband and 2 children (aged 5 and 10) in peak season (all inclusive) our holiday turned out to be absolutely fine.
On arrival in the early hours of the morning the receptionist was very welcoming, then we were directed to our room which was on the top floor - although basic it was clean.
I have read reviews where people have commented that their children survived on chips alone throughout their holiday - there was always different meats/veg/pasta/salad/fresh fruit etc on offer at both lunch and dinner. My kids have been brought up eating a varied, balanced diet and that is what they had on this holiday and all food was clearly labelled.
There was the usual problem of people putting towels on sun loungers and not using them until lunchtime (however this occurs nearly everywhere) and some of the barmen were a little abrupt (however some of the guests were rude to them so hardly surprising).
People need to realise that you only get what you pay for. I have travelled all over the world and for the prices that are paid for this hotel, it is a bargain. It is child friendly, although unsuitable for mums and dads with teenagers as teenagers would be bored.

Again reading the reviews before we...
10 / 10
Aug 2007, Mr A Cooper

Again reading the reviews before we went I was a bit anxious, but we arrived safely and got our key and was shown the block we were in by the very friendly security guard.
The hotel offers great facilities for families. They have some great pools, which are all manned by a lifeguard and very clean.
The food was great. I am not a fussy eater so I was able to try all different types of cuisines. If you eat meat I found all the meat melted in your mouth. If you are a vegetarian there is still a massive variety. The thing I found is that if you go to dinner around 7.30pm there would be more of a variety then there would be at 9.30pm, which is understandable. Great for the kids. The snack bar was also just as good.
The staff behind the bar, in the restaurant, the maids and the reception really worked hard to please everyone. As for the entertainment staff they were superb. They were constantly entertaining the kids and the adults. They had me up playing football, water polo, volleyball, table tennis and darts through out the day. The shows a night were great, really getting the audience involved. The kiddie songs were a bit much but you could not help yourself sing along to them all, I am still singing them now.
The town is close by and the beaches were fantastic, just a short walk.
I am 27 and my partner is 34, and our kids are 13 and 3, we really enjoyed ourselves. We met some fantastic people and would recommend it to anyone.
Big shout out to Rob, Nicola, Matt, Nick, Jenny, Ryan, Rorrie, Ryhs, Wendy,Paula,Glen

Just back after 1 week and all I can...
10 / 10
Aug 2007, Mr J MCDOUGALL

Just back after 1 week and all I can say is this is the best holiday we have had, my wife and daughter 8 and son 13. there are four blocks of apartments, reception area, main bar, restaurant and snack bar. Restaurant for breakfast, full English, toast, fresh made pancakes, cereal, fruit, tea , coffee etc served 07.30-10.30 also in here for lunch think about 12-3pm same drinks but with beer and wine.
The snack bar opens at poolside 11am-6pm for burger, chips, salads etc and all drinks coke, fanta and yes beer on tap you turn yourself, and then restaurant for supper at night, the food was great always plenty of choice and the drink was great. Just down the road is the beach and round the corner is the busy part of resort.
Please don't be put of by the negative comments the reason I am writing this is we all read them but I think the only people who write them have had a bad time. All the guest we spoke to had a great time.
4 pools all clean, entertainment a bit poor but make your own you're on holiday. We will definitely go back and I have already recommended friends to go.
Hope you enjoy as much as we did.

Like many other reviewers we were...
8 / 10
Aug 2007, Mr P Adamson

Like many other reviewers we were dreading the trip based on poor reviews but we had a cracking time.
We arrived at 12.30pm, knowing that our rooms would be ready at 2pm. They were ready on time and they were spotless - the air conditioning was on when we got there! We were situated next to the main pool and it was great.
A miserable old git told us on arrival that the food was terrible but we loved it! Plenty of healthy stuff like cereals, fruit, fish, etc with variation of main courses. We ate like horses and we really happy with the quality, variety and staff!
Initially, we thought the bar staff were a bit miserable but after a few days we actually saw that they were under pressure due to the shear number of people wanting a drink.
This is a fully inclusive hotel and represents serious value for money if you have kids - we have 3 kids with big appetites. One nice touch is a self service snack bar, next to the the main pool where you could help yourself to burgers, rolls, etc plus self service beer, soft drinks and coffee.
Like a lot of hotels, the major issue was getting sunbeds and a lot of people were putting towels out the night before, only to leave them empty all day which is annoying and I think the hotel management should deal with it. Having said that, we found that we were able to get the same sunbeds each day.
As we were situated by the pool, it was nice retiring to our balcony once the kids were in bed and have a nightcap. A couple of evenings, we watched some teenagers mucking around with chairs and towels by throwing them in the main pool. We watched one teenager fall in the pool, fully clothed and clearly very drunk and guess what - it was only British kids mucking about! No surprise there.
Overall, we loved the holiday, good value and we had a really nice time. There was plenty of things for the kids to do - football, basketball, volleyball, water polo, table tennis and pool.
A 3* hotel in Majorca is more like a 2* in the UK so don't expect the Ritz but the staff kept the hotel rooms and public areas really clean and we found the staff very helpful. Make sure you have holiday insurance though. Our daughter was not feeling too well so my wife walked into town to a chemist to pick up some Calpol which she was not allowed to have without seeing a Doctor. In total, we had to shell out £70 for medication for an ear infection, all covered by a £20 single trip travel policy... phew!
The entertainment was truly awful - 4 songs and dances for the kids at 8.30pm and terrible adult entertainment revolving around Mr and Mrs type competitions but it didn't spoil the evening as there was plenty of areas where you could sit and chat.
Going back to the Bar staff for a moment. A lot of people complained about them but I found them to be OK as long as you treated them well - with plenty of P's and Q's. Spirits are poured by eye so a Whisky or a Bailey's was normally a quadruple measure. No complaints there :-)
Would we go back? Absolutely!

Arrived home today so wanted to add...
7 / 10
Aug 2007, Mr W Goodwin

Arrived home today so wanted to add my comments whilst it's still fresh in my mind. Many people have rated this hotel below standard but apart from a few issues that could easily be sorted, THE EUROCALAS is NOT that bad !
First thing to put right would be the transfer times to and from Palma airport, they are very misleading. The Eurocalas was from everybody I spoke to, the Last drop. It took us almost 3 hours to get to the hotel we landed at 9.45pm and arrived at the hotel at 12.35am with three very tired and hungry children. The receptionist lifted our spirits though by being organised and extremely helpful. We were given a small map and a card key for the room and directions of where to go, he then offered to have the security staff open the restaurant for us to get a feed - which we did with much relief!
When we first entered the room we were stunned by the heat, the Eurocalas is reported to have air conditioning in all rooms, however it has to work to be effective. When we returned down to get our ' Midnight feast ' I asked the receptionist why it wasn't working, he claimed all the doors needed to be closed for it to work as the doors have sensors (just like alarm contacts) and to check this first. When we went back to our room, sure enough the balcony doors would not fully close and the sensors were not making a contact which I rectified by unscrewing them and joining the plates together by hand. the next day a handyman appeared bright and early to remove the sensors which from what I could glean in broken Spanish were 'broken'. However although he got the fan from the air con unit blowing out air, it was simply the room air going round in a circle with no cool air coming out. VERY HOT NIGHTS!
The food is varied, hot and most edible, the variety is not always to the 'English' taste with suckling pig, rabbit stew and battered Octopus rings to name but a few, but there were always large selections of pasta based dishes and a huge salad bar. The snack bar by the pool is the kids choice, burgers, sausage, chips etc and loads of flavoured ice cream in sealed pots to sit by the pool with.
The entertainment was very repetitive and children oriented, but hey, with the sangria flowing who cares if the have to 'shake your bar la la la la' (you'll see what I mean). The bar was woefully understaffed and each waiter (should you find more than one working) would take multiple orders at a time so what you were brought, was what you got. DON'T COMPLAIN as next time you wait twice as long. Tipping seemed to go down well if you wanted to get served quicker!
The overall cleanliness of the hotel was the biggest issue.
As the air conditioning didn't work we sweltered in our beds, and as the sheets were marked when we arrived I knew for sure they hadn't been changed all week. We found clothes and jewellery under one bed from a previous guest - well cleaned room?
The pool has an awful lot of debris floating on it and various underwater items which could easily hurt your feet if you stand on any of it.
Around the hotel are only a few litter bins for the hundreds of guests and as such flies and wasps were in abundance, the cleaners were always about but never on top of the problem.
SO.... 7/10 My kids said they'd go back again, the wife and I are a little less enthusiastic.
