Just returned from a week away at...

Aug 2007, Miss C Owen

Just returned from a week away at this hotel. Were very unlucky with the weather, hotel / rooms very basic. Lots of room for sun beds but be up early to get them!!
Great for kids up to age 10, my son is 11 and not allot for him to do. Resort was very boring, not allot to do at all. Beach was very nice short walk to it.
Food at hotel was nice one day, and then awful the next, with big queues to get into restaurant, bar queue was the same. Staff very friendly.
Holiday ok, not much to do for longer than 7 days.

The Club Calla Romani is an older...

Aug 2007, Mrs A Watson

The Club Calla Romani is an older style hotel and some would describe the rooms as basic.
We had an "apartment" which in effect meant two rooms accessed via one door from the corridor. This provided our two children (9 & 12) with their own room, bathroom and balcony which they thought was great, so did we.
We could not fault the amount of space this gave us, although we were hardly in the room anyway. The pools and grounds are so good we lived out there! The hotel has also provided a footpath to the small beach 10mins slow walk away.
Food and drink was perfectly adequate with everything most people could want, most of the day.
The bar staff were very friendly and efficient. I was particularly impressed by their language skills; this is a multi-national hotel after all.
The entertainment team which is mainly Italian work hard and do a great job with the kids, group dancing, sports, and Aqua Aerobics. But be warned though, they play the same awful Europop all day at the poolside which can get really annoying.
Even allowing for the fact that a session of the songs are specifically for the kids, Agadoo, Superman, (no honestly they do play them!) It is very painful. If you think Eurovision is where music is at, you'll be fine. If not take your MP3 player.
The entertainment in the club was good and like the rest of the hotel is aimed at families with younger kids. If you have a 15, 16 or 17 year old in your group they will probably not enjoy it. Likewise if you have an 11year old who thinks they are 15, 16, or 17, they won’t like it either.
The nearby town is small and those looking for old world charm better look elsewhere.
However there is a great little fair for the kids and some good bars. D'Alfils is the best of them, and it’s the nearest.
We booked Resort Hoppa for our transfer, we seemed to go to every hotel on the way to ours, and it took longer to get to there than our flight out there. We would book a taxi next time.
For the price this hotel is hard to beat.

Aug 2007, Mrs K Murray

We have just returned from a great holiday at this hotel. The rooms were clean, tidy and all we needed for our weeks break, although air conditioning was a great miss, we had to hire fans.
There was plenty of food and a variety of main dishes so there was plenty of choice to suit us.

The kids loved the pool and spent most of the week there while we relaxed by the poolside.
The staff were helpful and friendly except one grumpy little waiter who was very lucky that our friend didn't fall out on him when he grabbed her child by the arm and pulled her into a seat! He seemed a bit of a jobs worth!!
We would recommend this hotel for families and will return there again in future.

We have been back from Club Cala...

Aug 2007, Mrs R Baldwin

We have been back from Club Cala Romani for 1 week and we had a fantastic holiday. We are a family of 4 - children both aged 10yrs - and stayed for 2 weeks.
The pool was beautiful - we had no difficulty obtaining 4 sunloungers everyday, everywhere is spotlessly clean, there were activities everyday for both adults and children including aqua gym, shooting, volleyball... the list is endless.
We stayed in an apartment within the complex and it was huge - with proper beds for the children. The entertainment team worked so hard day and night - there were international shows such as singers, Irish dancers and a drag act; there was a mini disco for the kids and then the usual men v women competitions and Bingo - which is pretty standard for Majorca.
The food was great and we never struggled to find something we liked - although after 2 weeks we were craving our local Indian takeaway but isn't that normal? As for the drinks - nothing was watered down and they weren't shy with the measures either!
Its location was perfect, 5 mins to beach and town where there are trampolines and funfairs, hair braiding and tons of shops and there was the noddy train which takes you all round Calas de Mallorca. The best part for me was that I wasn't bitten once by mosquitoes the whole 2 weeks we were there which must be a miracle! Our only complaint was that the restaurant could get a bit smelly (only occasionally though) - mostly of fish which if you're not a fish lover can be a little off-putting - but aside from that we had a brilliant time. We have booked to go back again next August!

Aug 2007, Mrs M Scott

We went to Club Cala Romani with our 10 year old and 13 year old twins. I have to say it was the best family holiday ever! We were only there for a week all inclusive and wished it to be longer.
We stayed in a one bed apt and it was big enough for the 5 of us. They didn't have air con, but the breeze at night kept you cool. The food was great, ( air con Restaurant) you could always find something to eat and if you missed any meals there was a snack bar to catch up on your eating(air conditioned too). The place was spotless and the staff worked hard to keep it that way.
The pools were great too and not too busy, you could always get a sun bed. There was plenty of shade around the pool and you could lie about or join in the fun with the entertainers, ( especially Mickey the English girl, she was brilliant with the kids!). The aqua gym every day was a good laugh (and harder than you realised). The kids had an absolute ball! We hardly saw them - they were away doing archery, football , darts , pool and volleyball.
The entertainment at night was a mixture, some nights better than others. If you are looking for a family place that is not as busy as the other better known resorts, where it's not all just Brits (good mix of German, French, Spanish, Brits and of course the Italians who were great fun!) then this is for you. We didn't even get bitten by mosquitoes and there is always a nice breeze that keeps you from getting too hot.
All in all, a great holiday and I would go back there again ( the beaches are gorgeous too !!) The local town was a stone's throw away and there were things to do there too although we always ended up back at the hotel. Only thing I would say is it needs more for younger children, my 13 year olds enjoyed it though !! 10/10

Aug 2007, Mr R Maina

Went to this hotel for 2 weeks with 3 kids aged 8, 8 ,14, I hardly saw them they had a fantastic time the clubs, and activities are fantastic both for kids and adults with no pressure to join in.
Maid service everyday which was good they cleaned properly and changed towels and sheets
Food was good something for everyone, picnics could be ordered for trips out they were very good, pizza bar was open.
My children had a birthday while we were there and they were made a fuss of all the staff were nice and very helpful.
Overall a great relaxing holiday this hotel is suited to families as it is very family orientated I don’t think it would suit couples or singles but that goes for the whole of calas as it is very quiet but if you want a relaxing holiday with the kids this is the hotel for you, the amount of people we met that were on there fourth year here was amazing.

Jul 2007, Mrs F Wilson

This is a great hotel and really don't need to say anything else. Just back from our 2nd visit to Cala Romani and will be back again next year.
The room was excellent and even though there was no air con leaving the door open was not a problem as there was no noise at night. The rooms are cleaned daily with fresh towels if you want them.
We had a studio and the fridge was great to keep water in for night time. There were 3 of us and there was plenty of room for us all.
The food was the same high standard as last year. There was always plenty of staff on the bar and you never really had to queue.
The entertainment team are excellent and really lovely people a huge credit to Marianne. Our daughter loved Mici and Sabrini (it was good to see her again). There was always load to do for us all.
The Alpitour (Italian) team were excellent and really made us all feel welcome too. Thanks again for a great holiday to everyone at Cala Romani and look forward to seeing you again next year.
The entertainment was excellent a great mix of home grown and international shows (which were of a very high standard). My 7 year old was crying on our last night as she didn't want to come home and is counting the weeks until we go back next year.

Jul 2007, Mrs N Kendle

Have just returned from 2 weeks at the Club Cala Romani and found it to be excellent.
The accommodation was very good, we were a family of 2 adults and 2 children aged 16 & 6, (the 16 year old was classed as an adult) we had a suite which was 2 rooms adjoining with 2 bathrooms and a kitchen. Ideal for us all to get ready on an evening.
The only drawback to the accommodation was that there was no air conditioning, but put that down to being spoilt on previous holidays.
The food was very good; anyone who said that there wasn't much choice must be very fussy eaters. Plenty of salad choice, pasta, potatoes, and meat and fish dishes.
Daytime entertainment was excellent; plenty for the kids and adults to do if they so wished.
Football, Water polo, Soft Gym (Pilates), Aqua Gym, Dancing. Never a quiet moment, except Friday when it was the Italian Entertainment Team day off. Evening entertainment was also good, my 16 year old informed us, as we preferred to sit in the lounge bar away from the noise.
Overall a great holiday was had by all and we would return there but we would hire a fan.

Jul 2007, Miss L Mcpherson

Room was very small, 3 beds side by side - clean enough though. Pool was good-not enough sun loungers though. Kids entertainment fair-although hard to understand the leader’s lingo.
Food disgusting-not much choice for kids. The snack bar was merely leftovers. Water was not included in the all-inclusive drinks.
Night entertainment good-although had to listen to the host go over everything in various languages-which dragged on each night. Bar staff friendly. Reception staff not very welcoming/approachable. Quiet resort!

Jul 2007, Miss L Clarke

This hotel was fantastic, the food was great, and the pools were amazing.
However there was no air-con but it wasn't that bad, as you could leave the balcony doors open and get a breeze, you could also hire a fan.
5 mins walk away( even less than that) was a fantastic shopping centre with plenty of entertainment.
The entertainment at the hotel was brilliant, all day there was music and entertainment for all ages and at night a disco for kids then entertainment for adults.
Overall this hotel was great and I loved staying there!

Jun 2007, Mrs R Binley

The hotel is a typical Spanish building - concrete! But it was very clean with maid service daily.
The facilities and activities we thought were great especially if you've got kids. We were just a couple looking for a nice break and for the price we paid for 10 days all inclusive it was great.
The hotel is less than 5 mins walk to the best two pubs in town D'Alfils and Papagayos where we had a ball! A great night out the guys there Sean, Darren and Danny were fantastic. Highly recommended.

I will give a honest opinion of this...
5 / 10
Jun 2007, Miss N Gibb

I will give a honest opinion of this hotel, I was travelling with my partner and my 8 month old & 17year old, my friend and her 2 kids age 6 & 9.
The hotel reminds me of a hospital with whitewashed walls. Our rooms were very small, didn't have room to swing a cat with a cot in it, but clean. No air con but you can hire a fan for 18e plus 10e deposit.
But beware if you get the grumpy man who is on during the night, he won't give you your deposit back unless you have your receipt. I had been told by one of the other members of reception that I wouldn't need it! (He was very sour faced).
The pools were great plenty of room for sun loungers and great entertainment going on all day.
The food was ok but found the good dishes ran out quite quickly.
One of the biggest problems I had with this hotel was the lack of high chairs, sometimes I had to walk round looking for one for 15 mins, when you asked staff they would say I had to look for them. The chairs also were unsafe, there was nothing to strap our baby in and some of them had no bit in between her legs so she could slip under easily.
If you have a teenager I would not recommend this hotel as there was nothing much for them to do and the town is a bit quiet also.
One the whole the hotel is ok but feel we did not get good value for money and would not be returning.
And I would never book with On The Beach again, as no transfers are included and it cost us £180 to get to our hotel and the forgot to tell us we would stop of at Norwich on the way home.
