I agree with the other girl who said this was a dive !!!! It was like a Butlins by the sea!!! Full of chavs I felt institutionalised. The room was awful, the food was horrendous and the 'restaurant' looked like a canteen!!! When you ask for a Gin and Slim you don't expect it in a paper coca cola cup!!! I rest my case ..... Thank goodness I only went for a weekend!!! I;m so glad to be home I would never ever return!!

Have just come back from a week’s...
8 / 10
Sep 2007,

Have just come back from a week’s stay at the club Cala Romani, and to be honest I was a little apprehensive as I had read some quite bad reviews.
I cannot fault the club Cala Romani at all. There was absolutely nothing wrong with this hotel whatsoever and I strongly feel that some people will literally just moan about anything!
The hotel was extremely good value for money as it is very clean, well maintained and the food is to a good standard. The food does get a little samey but that’s the case whenever you go all inclusive. The rooms were of basic decor but were clean and comfortable.
If you're looking for the Ritz, then it won't suit you! But for value for money it’s definitely a great hotel. I went with my partner and 2 yr old daughter for 650 all inclusive for the 3 of us (not including transfers) and in my view that’s an absolute bargain!
The resort itself of Calas De Mallorca is attractive with many bars and eateries ant the beach is stunning. Would definitely come back here for a cheap, no frills week away!

We stayed at the Club Cala Romani...

Sep 2007, Miss D Elliott

We stayed at the Club Cala Romani from the 30th Aug for 10days, there was 5 of us - 2adults and 3 children. Rooms were a very good size and cleaned daily, the hotel itself was very large and beautiful, we couldn't fault it. Although some of the bar staff could be quite nasty when we first arrived but when they recognised your face they are really friendly, which would of been better if they were like that from the start.
Food was lovely and plenty of choice, I cant understand people who say it wasn't nice food as my child is very fussy but never found a problem feeding himself every night, there was plenty of things he could eat.
There was plenty of sun loungers to go around and even if you don't go down till later you will always find a bed, so no need to rush down in the morning to put your towels out. Everything you needed was all in the hotel grounds which was very handy, activities in the day were great for kid's and adults alike, you can get a rota of activities so you know whats next, just ask one of the animation team.
It was my first time here and I am planning to return next year, which I don't normally do as I like to try new places. But this place is that nice I will return next year. The only down side is that it is an international hotel which means everything is spoken in 9 different languages as there is always people from other countries.

A superb holiday!! (our second visit in 2 years), temp in late 20s.
Good hotel, superb swimming pool for the kids, which allowed inflatables and ball games and the food is good. The staff are great with the kids especially Mia, with games throughout the day and a mini disco with medals and certificates for the kids for winning there daily game. The bar is superb with all beer and spirits more than drinkable. Rooms are a nice size with maid service every day, and quiet in the late evenings.
I would recommend to family's only as the town does not have any real night life.

My partner and I desperately needed a...

Sep 2007, Miss E Parker

My partner and I desperately needed a holiday after the non existent summer that we have had here in England. We booked the holiday and were expecting good things based on some of the reviews that we read.
Upon arriving at our hotel after a horrid transfer we were a little weary of the looming tower blocks that were to be our accomodation for a week. Luckily enough we were able to check into our room early so that we could unpack and head to the bar for that all important first holiday drink. The room itself was clean with a south facing balcony, we had views of the entire complex however there was no sea view as was stated in our inventory of the hotel!
The pool area was large with lots of sun loungers so there was no need to rush down to the pool with towels. The downside to this was feeling crammed in next to your neighbours feeling overlooked, for this reason we spent half of the time down on the beach (I get the impression we were not the only ones!).
Going all inclusive was a new thing for me and the prospect of free alcohol and food was an exciting one as there is nothing I like more than good food and drink. How wrong could I be! You cannot really go wrong with the drink, the beer tasted OK and if you stuck to the shorts well then you were laughing all the way to merriment. The food however was a different story! For those of you who used to have really bad school dinners then I will say no more but for those of you who were smart enough to take mums sandwiches then this is for you. The most important factor here is that everyone likes anything that is free! Our first visit to the buffet was late lunch just after we arrived, as previous people have mentioned there was little selection but it looked ok. To be honest it was a bit cold but seeing as it was the end of the lunch session we let it off thinking that if we made early dinner then it would be different. This was to not be the case as every single meal that we had there on would be of sub-standard temperature. Having some knowledge of basic food hygiene this worried me and as you can imagine eating food that is not meant to be cold is not exactly pleasurable. We ended up eating out for every meal for the last 3 days of our holiday (I'm sorry but being as bad as it was I don't care if it's free, I'm not eating it)!
In terms of the room it was clean when we arrived but it was not cleaned once whilst we were there, I suppose the floor was swept but the bathroom was completely neglected. The towels were changed everyday but the bedding only once.
Outside of the hotel there is a selection of bars and restaurants, surprisingly there was a very good chinese - Restaurante Chino Kingdu. The bar to be in is the Dalfil as every night is karaoke (unless sport is on), past 9pm it is impossible to get a seat with spectators covering the street!
Although the holiday was overall a good one this had more to do with great company, free alcohol and the option that we could afford to eat out every night as people with the newly stated "disposable incomes". For those of you who want to pay for an all inclusive with the "all inclusive" completely in mind then I suggest you chose a different hotel!

Hmmm, where to start. We got back...

Sep 2007, Mrs K Elliott

Hmmm, where to start. We got back yesterday from this hotel and all in all it was a good holiday, but I wouldn't go back. When we got there, our first impressions were that the building was not as bad as some made out, and the reception staff were very friendly. Had our picture taken for our all inclusive ID cards, and given a map and key to our room.
Walked out of reception overlooking the pool, and it all looked lovely (although noisy). We were in Tomir Block, which is the third block back, and out of sight from the pool, with no views. Great, we thought, stick us at the back. In the end, it was the best place to be as the rooms were different to those in the main block, and we were away from the noise and hustle and bustle. The rooms themselves were HUGE!!!! Bathroom - very spacious and clean, bedroom was your average size for a hotel, then a room off that with another double built in wardrobe, kitchen, fridge, table and chairs (4 people) 2 sofas, drawers and unit, and a coffee table. All very impressive. The balcony was at least double, if not triple your "normal" size too. At that we were impressed.
The main restaurant was ok. Food was always good standard and variety, and the staff worked hard to keep fresh food topped up, and tables cleared. There were however no waiters for you to get a drink with your meal. You either got one from the bar on the way in, or had squash or wine from a barrel. It did have the feeling of a canteen, and I never felt like I sat and had a "nice relaxing" meal so to speak. We went out a couple of times as I find mealtimes one of the highlights of my holiday. As I say, the food was good standard and variety though, so don't be put off by my comments.
The entertainment was good. During the day there was competitions 3-4 times a day (shooting, volleyball, football, javelot, pool, darts, water polo, archery, table tennis etc) and the kids had their own games too. At first the activities annoyed me cause they were just so loud etc, but in the end, we figured don't moan about it, join in! We did, and had a ball.
Evening entertainment was also very good, with excellent shows etc, and a disco till 12. The Kenya Boys were very good.
The bar staff were very friendly, but we did have to queue for quite a while, and you could only get one drink at a time each (ID cards were checked too). The glasses were stick thin, and you barely got 2 glugs. Beer was served in the same thin glasses so it would only last 2 mouthfuls! Not much you can do about that, but never mind.
We made some great friends there, and joined in all we could. I think this holiday is largely what you make it. If you want somewhere to relax and do nothing in peace and quiet, this is def not for you! If you want somewhere lively, big and fun- this is the place for you. We wanted something in between, but thought whilst we were there we should make as much of it as we could!
I can safely say I had a good holiday, but would not go back or recommend it to friends and family.

I have just returned from a weeks...
9 / 10
Sep 2007, Mrs L HEBBLEWHITE

I have just returned from a weeks holiday at this hotel with my husband and 3 children aged 3, 5, and 7. We had a FANTASTIC time! We booked last minute and were a bit unsure as to what it would be like, but we need not have worried as it was GREAT!
The hotel is a bit dated but it was clean and tidy and our room was adequate for what we needed. It even had a small kitchen area which I didn't expect on an all inclusive holiday. We didn't need to use it, but the fridge came in handy for keeping drinks cool. We had maids visit everyday to make beds, clean and change towels.
I have read other reviews complaining about lack of air con, but I can honestly say we didn't need it. You could leave the patio doors open and it was more than cool enough. Also, no pesky mozzies about so that was another bonus! Apparently you can hire fans but we didn't need to.
There was 3 big main pools of varying depths, all with ample sun loungers, although you have to join the Germans and lay out towels early for the best spots! There is also a very shallow baby pool next to a kids park area which is great if you have very small children.
The hotel has a shop on site which is great for buying papers, water, inflatables etc. A lovely beach is a short walk down a path from the hotel although it does get busy.
Our favourite thing about the hotel was the wonderful children's entertainment. There are activities going on throughout the day that the kids can join if they want to. There was a parrot show by the pool one evening. In the evening they have a 'mini disco' which my kids loved. They would also have competitions and games so the children could win certificates and medals. The children's entertainers made this holiday for us. We also enjoyed the adult entertainment, singers, talent nights, drag acts, etc.
The only downside was the food. Don't get me wrong, it was ok. It just became a bit boring towards the end, but you could always find something to eat. It was definitely worth going all inclusive, just for the kids drinks and ice creams alone! There was food available all day up to 12 at night, so you would never go hungry.
I would highly recommend this hotel, especially to anyone who has children of similar age to mine. They will love it!

Sep 2007, Miss A Welsh

My partner and myself (30s) decided on a cheap last minute all inclusive holiday. Club Cala Romani is probably the best located hotel within the resort.
The room however was very basic-no air con with which we had to rent a fan for our duration, also for females it is recommended you bring your own hair dryer as we also had to rent one.
Our Room was kept very clean & maids were prompt with fresh towels & bedding.
The hotel has a very impressive pool area although unfortunately due to other guests 'hogging' the sun loungers (probably from night before) we didn’t get great poolside use of these.
Club Romani seems to cater toward more family orientated guests with which we resorted in taking ourselves to the beach a couple of days (after all we are in our 30s with no family).
During our stay we hired a scooter from the local hire place approx 300yards facing the supermarket 2000, this was great to see more of the area we would highly recommend.
Staff seemed friendly enough, food basic but plenty of; beverages were all the local equivalent not impressed with the cocktails.
Finally please make the effort to do the pirates adventure trip, great fun for all ages and very impressive.

We booked a week at the Club Cala...
9 / 10
Sep 2007, Miss D Gammack

We booked a week at the Club Cala Romani and we travelled on the 1 September. We arrived at the hotel at 11.30pm and although the snack bar closed at midnight they kept it open for us.
The hotel comprises of three apartment blocks, the hotel, Tomir Apartments and Galatzio (spelling??) Apartments. We stayed in the Tomir Apartments.
Our twin room had a hallway, bathroom, bedroom, living room, and 2 balcony's. We travelled with our son who is nearly two and in the bedroom was a cot. There was plenty of wardrobe and drawer space and we found the rooms spacious.
From talking to people around the pool etc the rooms in the Tomir and Galatzio were there best rooms and the rooms in the hotel were one small room, bathroom, and balcony.
The maids cleaned the rooms everyday and clean towels were available if you left dirty ones on the floor. Our bedding was changed once. There was no air conditioning but you could hire fans, we found the room ok without one and the balcony doors could be left open without any noise disturbing you. Also there was no kettle, we didn't need one, but they could also be hired from reception.
There were 2 children’s pools and 2 adult pools and a children’s park which were excellent. There was entertainment for children and adults all day and night. The complex was ideal for people with or without children. My son loved the mini disco and they were fantastic with the kids. The adult entertainment is on a 2 week rota so if you went for 2 weeks both weeks would be different. There was a bar which children didn't seem to go in which had a terrace bar.
There is a path from the hotel which leads to the beach, this is about a 5/10 minute walk. The town centre is minutes away with a variety of shops, restaurants, and arcades.
On the downside, we found the food to be quite repetitive. There was plenty of food and it was always being re-filled but the choice didn't change much from day to day. If we had gone for 2 weeks we would have had to have eaten out quite a few times. The snack bar is open when the restaurant is shut although this is the same food that the restaurant serves.
The hotel is Italian based and there was a mixture of nationalities, with it being 50% British.
We had a fantastic holiday and couldn't fault the hotel, maybe a varied menu in the restaurant would have made me change my 9/10 to a 10/10.
We would definitely recommend this hotel and resort.

We have just returned from our first...

Sep 2007, Ms K Eastwood

We have just returned from our first holiday at Club Cala Romani, 2 adults, 1 teenager and 2 children. Our holiday was excellent, we couldn't fault the hotel or it's facilities. Huge pool area and never a problem to get sun beds even though the hotel was fully booked. Pools ideal for young and old, only problem is all the inflatables that people insist on leaving floating in the pool (why do kids with arm bands have large rafts to play with in a pool?), but the life guard does get them removed if the pool gets too packed.
Our apartment was huge and although no air con, we kept the doors open all night despite being on ground level and the temperature was fine. Food - there was plenty of choice and just as good as you would get travelling with Thomson's etc, yes things do not always taste the same as at home but you are not at home!
Plenty of activities all day and entertainment each night, although we didn't bother to watch most nights our 7 year old enjoyed dancing at the mini disco every night. We walked down to the beach one afternoon, which was lovely, sandy and clean although busy as it's small. The only criticism was that it would have been nice to have somewhere to walk to in the evening other than the centre with all the gift shops, English pubs etc but that's not a fault of the hotel. All in all a great week and we would definately consider returning for another holiday.

Before booking this hotel for a...

Sep 2007, Mrs M Muir

Before booking this hotel for a budget 1 week holiday for myself, husband, 13 yr old son and 12 yr old daughter, I read previous reviews and was very wary about what to expect. We booked flights and accommodation separately and just thought well we've had a good price and it's only for a week so we'll make the most of it. I am glad to say I was delighted with the hotel and its facilities and all my anxieties went out the window.
Our flight was delayed so we arrived at the hotel in the early hours of the morning. We were greeted by a very friendly gentleman on reception who offered us refreshments before showing us to our room which was situated in the Timor block of apartments. I can only say our apartment was probably the best I've ever stayed in, although furthest away from the hotel and another apartment block, it was very spacious, light, airy and spotlessly clean. Our room was cleaned daily with 2 bed linen changes during the week of our stay.
The food provided was a bit repetitive but there was plenty of choice and if you missed breakfast or lunch the snack room was always open in between. Yes, I did see queues at 1pm lunch time but after having a large breakfast we were in no rush to have lunch and at 1.30pm you could normally just walk straight in the dining room. The dining room itself could do with being bigger to accommodate the amount of people at the hotel but the staff worked really hard and were continually busy clearing tables.
One really nice thing was we never had to worry about getting up early for sun loungers as there were always plenty around. The swimming pools were absolutely fabulous - very clean and the pool tables adjacent to the pools went down well with the children. The tennis courts and football pitches were great too.
The entertainment at the hotel was good - something on every night - Mr/Mrs Cala Romai, Men against Women - the usual things but sometimes we just used to take a little walk into the centre.
During the day there was always some activity or other going on - archery, volley ball, water polo, and aqua aerobics. There was also a lot organised for the younger children.
Unlike other all inclusive hotels we've stayed at, this hotel was only about 5 minutes walk from the local bars/shops/restaurants. I will say if you have small children to keep an eye on them when looking around the shops as they could easily get lost - you can get very disorientated due to the layout.
All in all we had a fab holiday and our main problem was the weather - cloud, rain, thunder and lightening - well you can't do much about that. I would definitely go back to this hotel in the future and have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone looking for a 3 * hotel in a great location with good facilities.
