my friends and i have just returned from calas park. i had been reading the reviews, and was a little concerned about what the food may be like. how anyone could find ANYTHING to complain about beats me!!!!!!!!!!!!! the food was fantastic, freshley cooked,we never had the same thing twice in seven days, evreything was cooked to perfection and we didnt know what to choose,we were so spoilt for choice!!!!!!!!!!! it was all delicious, and we all gained weight. our apartment was spotless, clean pure white towels every day, and pure white bedding changed twice a week. a wonderful sea view what more could we ask for. the steps are a problem, but i was informed they are having lifts installed soon. the position of calas park is excellent for the beach, and the resort 3mins away. would we return OF COURSE WE WOULD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice holiday, but not again.

We (2 adults and 2 small kids) stayed from the end of may and the first two weeks of june 2007 and our holiday was nice, but we will not be going again to Calas Park. I know in this review I will repeat some things mentioned by others and that is because they're fact or we also found them to be true. The hotel is positioned on a cliff near the sea and the views are really nice, clear blue water as far as your eye can see. The beach is very close and located in a cove, about 5 minutes walk, which can be reached by a walkway that runs just past the hotel. Rooms are your basic Spanish hotel room, nothing special, in OK condition, cleaned & towels changed every day, but not on a saturday. Small TV in the room with a few channels, German and Spanish, one Enlish one, Sky News. Airconditioning was great. Every room has a balcony, but you can only see the sea if you've got a room on the second or third floor (recommended). On the ground floor and first floor you'll be looking at just the other building in front of yours (this does not count for the rooms in the building nearest to the pool, all of those have an undisturbed view of the sea). When you don't like walking stairs don't even be thinking of booking Calas Park, because you'll be doing a lot of it. Because the complex is built on a cliff it is spread out over four different levels. Pool at the bottom and the reception and restaurant at the top, accomodation in between, so at least a few times a day going up and down the 70 !! steps. Style of restaurant was OK, but the food was a bit bland and the choice on the limited side. Drinks were all from a post mix machine but all the known brands (Coke, Fanta etc. etc.). Entertainment, has been mentioned by others to be bad and we can't say they're wrong, it just was really bad. Many people left the compex in the evening to go to the bars in the shopping centre which is just next door and quite nice to visit, they surely must have thought the same. Alcoholic drinks were all local, but there was a wide choice and fine to drink, beer was fine as well. All drinks are served in plastic cups, but we didn't really mind. Snacks are served the whole day, but there's a trick to this, you can only eat them in the restaurant (yes, first climb those 70 steps!), you're not allowed to take anything out of the restaurant. So if you're thinking of eating your burger or whatever on your sunlounger, forget it, you're not allowed to take any food outside the restaurant. Another thing which was really childishly sad is that I was physically stopped taking two plastic drink cups full of crisps out of the restaurant for my kids, explaining the matter did not help 'Snacks in restaurant' is the only understandeable thing I could get from the woman who showered me in Spanish words. The clever thing here is that you can get crisps at the bar, but you have to pay one Euro for a small bag (same crisps but a bag 4 times bigger in the supermarket down the street also one Euro), they were really milking people on this one. Nationalities were about 50% Germans, 40% Brits and 10% other nationalities. Pool is too small in high season, it can not not cope with the amount of guests. The 'sunchair race' starts at about 7 in the morning, if you want a nice spot, get up early. For photos of the complex copy the link below, it's a German site, but the photo's give you a good sense of the place. [--]
Lovely location shame about the food

The hotel is set in a quiet setting although it is right next to the few bars shops and restaurants there are in the small town. Not really suitable for the less able though as you can see from the photos its built on the side of a hill on 4 separate levels connected only by the stairway running down the middle. The place was kept reasonably clean whilst we were there with daily service other than wed and sat. The camp enterainer who could pass as a short Latka (Andy Kaufman) from TAXI and his 2 leggy assistants tried their best to keep everyone happy in the evenings and the orgainsed day activities but there was very much an old butlins feel about it - Bingo every evening in 3 languages with a squeeky voice became a bit much by the end of the week but the miming of an operatic "save your nights for me" in full top and tails done in all seriousness was unintentionally comical. This is a All inclusive hotel, the 1st I've ever used - I don't think I'll be tempted to do the same again, at least not at this price. The choice was quite wide but the quality was fairly poor unless you are into processed meats of various descriptions. As part of a continental breakfast I expected it but with lunch and dinner versions of Veal, Turkey, Chicken and of course Burgers all indistinguishable from SPAM it was not acceptable. The exceptions being some of the fish, pasta dishes and daily fresh bread that was excellent. The drinks and were all local versions and again generally not what you would buy if they weren't free, Beer was ok though. There is a small beach with a cafe/bar was about 5 mins walk along the pretty cliff top pathway, although crowded even this early in the year, was lovelly. Beautiful clear blue sea and excellent for snorkelling. A small cruise boat stops about 3 times a day for visits to various caves. This and a similar cove right next door are the only real points of access to the beach on this bit of the coast which is for the most part very rugged cliffs. Overall we enjoyed our stay. It was a nice break at a very cheap price. At about £220 a head with flights I think it was good value - You get what you pay for.
What a great location for a hotel
from LawEngland
We have just returned from a week's family break to Calas Park, and would most definetely return. We were given a sea view apartment and what fantasic views they were..Considering it was school holidays, we had a lovely and relaxing break, apartments cleaned most days, and towels changed daily. The food and drink was of good choice , and the actual location of the hotel was spot on.. An approximate five minute walk to a lovely beach, with brilliantly blue water... Just outside the hotel front is the town shops, bars and numerous restaurants. The only part which we would recommend they upgrade is the nightly entertainment ... but if your not to fussed about that then you'll have a great time. Approx 45 mins from airport
had great time

we are a party of 4 adults and 1 child just returned after 10 days at the calas park. we had a lovely time. Rooms were of a good size we were at the back and a good sea view. The food was lovesly always hot and plenty of it, mly only criticism was we could have had croissants for breakfast. There was always something to do by the pool area each day either volleyball , water polo, riflle shooting .darts etc. The pool was rather small for the amount of people there and unless you put towels on sunbeds by 7am. you didnt get one! The beach was beautiful only a short walk along the front. Crystal clear water ,lovely clean sand although it did get very crowded. The local shopping area was just right lots of restaurants and plenty of shops to browse around. We had such a good time we are looking at prices for next year..
Good and not so good

Went to the Calas Park with my girlfriend and two children for a week in May 2006 . We went all inclusive for the first time so did not know what to expect. The apartment was a good size and we had a sea view from our balcony, which was nice. We had two complaints with regards the apartment. Firstly, there were no cups or plates etc. I know we were all inclusive but it is nice to have the choice of eating in the apartment or not, and it would have been nice to have been able to make a cup of coffee. Secondly the sat TV consisted of German channels, how unusual! My advice would be to take some plates, cups, bowls and a pan if you want a coffee or food in your apartment. The hotel complex itself was great, not to far from a small beach and right on the edge of the sea. The pool was small but OK and could get busy. There was a small bar by the pool but this only opened when it was not windy, which it seemed to be a lot. The main bar/club was OK although the bar staff were a little stand-offish. There was plenty of seating, provided you did not leave it too late getting there. This is where our main complaint comes in, the entertainment or lack of it! During the day there were darts matches and French bowls etc, which was great for those that like to join in. There was also a kids club but this only catered for children up to about 5 years of age. The evening entertainment was awful. Firstly there was bingo, then some form of competition arranged by the two permanent entertainment staff. After this had finished there was music played on a CD player till midnight, and that was it, every b____y night! Sorry, there was one night when there was a dance show for about an hour involving one chap and two women - awful!!!! Despite the lack of good entertainment we had a nice time. The apartments themselves were OK, the food was good with plenty of choice, if not a little repetitive. I doubt we would go back though.
Youv'e got to give it a try

My husband, adult daughter and myself stayed at this Calas Park Hotel for one week in June 05. Situated on a cliff overlooking the sea gave fantastic views and an excellent tan, within strolling distance to a lovely clean beach watched over by lifeguards. The accommodation was very clean and comfortable. The pool was of a good size for both adults and children, along with plenty of sunbeds and suncanopies for those who like to sit in the shade when too hot. There were several different nationalities in the complex and it was lovely to see the children all playing together. The Italian entertainment duo" Matteo and Alex" provided a full and very entertaining programme from morning till nite for both children and adults - a BIG plus in my view for this hotel. The food and drink was very good, there was never a time when there was nothing we didn't like to eat and the restaurant staff where always keeping everythink spic and span. As for the Manager, he was always on the ball, checking to make sure that everthing was run to perfection. The only downfall that we could anticipate, but didn't affect us, was the steps - if you have a pram or a wheelchair this could become a bit of a problem because there were a lot. We have been to Majorca several times but this was the first time we had been to Calles Del Mallorca and although we were expecting it to be very quiet (according to travel agents) we were very pleased with the shops/ facilities around the hotel. We would most certainly go back to Calas Park. Thanks for a great holiday from Ronaldo and Ronaldo's Mrs
nice hotel shame about the pool

The complex is in a lovely setting overlooking the sea and the rooms were air conditioned, clean and well - equipped. The gardens were well managed and picturesque and the rest of the resort was ideal for the children with lots to do. There are however a lot of steps to overcome if you happen to be situated in the wrong place. We were on the top floor of the top level and had to negotiate lots of stairs to get poolside. Nothing wrong with that but there are no snacks/food available at the pool level, so for meals and any snacks you had to go back up the stairs and then come back down again - no mean feat with 3 kids and a pram! The salads and cold buffet were plentiful but breakfast was poor if you like an english breakfast or english cereals. We had bacon twice and no sausages (apart from chorizos etc) at all, however eggs were plentiful! Breakfast seemed to cater for people who liked cold meats/cheese etc and not really for kids. The bread was nice and fresh but no pastries or croissants were available. Main meals were hit and miss with quality and variety and you have to be prepared to try rabbit/squid etc. The fish was plentiful but meat was sometimes a rarity and often recycled into something else from the meal before. There were a large number of children at the hotel and they did not seem to be well-catered for foodwise. Pasta/sauces were poor but salads were good. Our real gripe was the messy/ dirty pool surround that did not appear to be cleaned at all. This attracted wasps and flies and was alaways litter strewn. The puddles of water around the pool had slime at the bottom which led to a number of people slipping flat on their backs - not very hygienic either! Drinks were okay and the entertainment was bingo, disco and often a show of some sort (not bad). If the food was more varied ( more British and some snacks available pool-side ) and the pool surround cleaned regularly then we would have rated it a 4!
Fantastic Calas Park Aparthotel
from JoeHider
We spent a fantastic two week all inclusive holiday in the Calas Park Aparthotel. Myself, my wife and three kids aged 16, 12 and 9 years all had an absolute ball between 3 and 17 August 2005! The Calas Park complex was perched on a cliff with tiered levels of accommodation dropping down to a cliff path with breathtaking views over the sea. A lovely waterfall runs from the top at reception to the bottom (with steps either side) leading down to pool, bar and entertainment areas. The accommodation was clean and comfortable and surrounded by well landscaped areas full of pretty flowering shrubs and palm trees, the food varied and wholesome. The local beer, wines, spirits and soft drinks were all more than acceptable and I drank lots of them! There are lovely white sandy beaches close by (2 minutes walk along the cliff path) and there is no weed or rocks in the crystal clear water - the beaches are spotless and surrounded by scenic rocky scapes. The complex pool was big enough and very safe - and there was never any hassle over getting a sunbed! The complex was filled with Polish, German, Dutch, French, Italians - as well as lots of Brits. We all got on fantastic and took part in lots of activities laid on by a really off the wall Italian entertainment and activity team - led by Matteo - a nutcase of the first degree, we all grew to love him and his wacky ideas for making us laugh! Rifle and pistol shooting as well as darts and tabletennis joined water polo and many other activities which kept us all thoroughly entertained - and, as a family, we have made many enduring friendships with other holiday makers - including folks from the other countries in the complex!!! The complex staff were very attentive and friendly - special thanks to Linda Taylor and Manuel in reception, Juan and Paco who did a great job behind the bar and gave us so many hangovers, Francisco Jurado - the maintenance man who never walked past any guest without a greeting and a smile. Last and certainly not least the lovely Luna and Eva in the restaurant who worked their socks off to keep the restaurant's high standards of cleanliness and appeal - the food was always presented well. The Director, Mr Luis Truyals was everywhere ensuring that guest satisfaction was the main focus of his staff's activity. The entertainment was a bit naff in the evenings but everyone mixed well and so we made our own entertainment in a lot of ways - the Italian team worked really hard to make every night enjoyable - usually succeeding and giving us the best they could. The children loved it all and so did we. The resort of Calas De Mallorca is very nice - lots of nice shops, bars and restaurants and even a little fun fair and amusement park for the kids. With two mini golf courses and no rowdiness throughout the holiday, it was one of the best holidays we have had for years! There are markets nearly every day in the nearby towns and buses and water taxis are easy to us. Things not to miss: Manacar Town Market. The quaint marina town of Porto Cristo and especially the caves of Dracca (1000 meters under ground with one of the largest underground lakes in the world). All are reachable by public bus. When we went to Porto Cristo we stayed for an evening meal and made the return journey along the coast to Calas De Mallorca on a glass bottom boat - fabulous! To finish we have to say that thought his was our first trip to Mallorca - it will not be our last!!!
