We have been twice to this hotel Oct 06 & Oct 07. We would never return on an all inclusive deal again as the restaurant staff are most unfriendly, a smile would not go a miss. The food was only fit for dogs. If you enjoy junk food for your main meal - sausage, burgers, pork chops and more pork chops please go there.
The snacks consisted of sausage, bacon & potato chips. The meal served on Thursday 18th Oct, majority of the people left and went to eat elsewhere. They must have been emptying the bottom of the freezers as they are closing down for the end of the season.

We have just returned from our 7 nights stay at the Balmoral which my wife and I enjoyed. We did not stay in for the entertainment every night but the group we saw singing Mowtown was very good. The guys who ran the activities during the day were very friendly with kids and the adults.
The food was nice and varied, and cooked meat and fish done while you were there.
The rooms were cleaned every day, but the bathroom had a distinct sewer smell which we overcame with a couple of stick on air fresheners.
As to the attitude of the staff, the rep in reception was very helpful, but she is English by the way. The Spanish girls who worked in the dining room were very miserable bar one, and they tried to take your plate away whilst you were still eating.
Yes we would go again if only to see the Elvis impersonator at Louis bar down the town, a great old guy and a must see.

After the initial shock of the state of the hotel Sol Balmoral, we were not very impressed with the facilities. Breakfast was the highlight of the day and it steadily got worst through the day. I am not surprised that the bar staff made the drinks so strong to compensate for the lack of any entertainment.
The rooms were very basic but kept clean by the maid service who did a good job, most of the staff were very happy and friendly and keen to help when asked. But there was a lack of information given to guests if you arrived late in the evening/night.
Even though we were all inclusive we decided to eat out on a number of occasions as the food was very repetitive so we went to the restaurant next door like a lot of the residents who were staying at the hotel.

Firstly when we arrived at the hotel we were told that we would be having a ground floor room as we have a 3 yr old son who has a few problems, but the hotel staff put us on the 7th floor, when I approached them about this they said there was nothing they could do!! Not very friendly reception staff!
The hotel very outdated the area where we would sit and have a drink and watch a show was chairs there that my great great grandmother would have had in the olden days!
BEDROOM:
Very very basic and dull. Three single beds and a bathroom that was it! We were there 11 nights and our beds were not changed once! When we arrived in the room the beds and floor were covered in ANTS! It was disgusting, went to reception and complained they sent a cleaner up to spray ant killer down it took her around 3 hours to come up to the room!
Wasn’t pleased with the accommodation at all especially us paying a lot of money to go AI.
BAR:
Pathetic bar staff very ignorant, never done cocktails just basic drinks!
RESTAURANT:
Don't even go there!! We arrived on the Monday and left the following Friday and all we got on the menu was PORK PORK PORK! It was pathetic pork curry, pork rice very bad menu! They say there is a kiddies menu it consisted of meatballs or chicken nuggets every day!! My little boy hardly ate a bite!
CALAS DE MALLORCA ITSELF:
Very quiet town with very few things going for it! The only place that had something going for it was the CENTRAL BAR it was excellent staff very friendly!! Everything else was very over priced!!
They say the beach isn’t that far away from the hotel it was the opposite! You had to walk a cliff walk for 15 mins then head down about 50 steps onto the man made beach, sand would cut the feet off you!
Excursions all very highly priced!
Overall the hotel was pathetic I would not wish anyone to stay or eat in the hotel, beaches were very pathetic and Calas de Mallorca was a very boring place to be in!! Once you headed to the shops you saw everything!!
Would not recommend this place to anyone and certainly not the hotel.

This is a second review now on here and I have read through various other comments on here and most of them say the hotel is dated, yea, it may need an update but who really cares what it looks like when all your doing is sleeping and drinking in it when your All Inclusive and if your Self Catering then you wont be in it at all will you?! Its not what the hotel looks like anyway, its the people in it that makes it a good holiday!
Its the third time me and my partner have been here and it still impresses us just as much as the first time we went, the people are ace, brill sense of humours too! The drinks are always strong which we never complain about, you don't get them anywhere near as strong back at home so its all good! The food is brill too, wouldn't change it at all!!
I think its brill for your money and we get everything we want from it, we plan to go back every year and become well-known as we are already, you get treated to a 3 course meal at another hotel over the road with lots of alcohol and champers which is ace, shows they care about you coming back and remembering you! always good to know.
Overall brilliant hols - Aces! :)

My husband and I went on a quick get away break, we thought the hotel was fine. Food was great, lots of places to visit if you want to, good shopping area everyone pleasant. The place was clean with room service every day. As long as we have some where to sleep and some where to wash and its clean what else do you need. If you want a plush place then don't try getting a cheap holiday because you get what you pay for. We had a great time relaxing by the pool with a drink in hand and your food cooked for you, what else do you want.

I just got back from the Sol Balmoral Hotel on Friday there, and after reading other people's reviews I was a bit wary, but I really enjoyed myself. Yeah, it needs a little coat of paint etc, but not as bad as some people made it out to be. Rooms were very clean, and maids are in every day cleaning your room, changing towels etc..
Food was good, lots to chose from. You have to try the ice cream, but you'll have to be quick, otherwise you will miss out on the good flavours! Staff friendly, though they could smile more.
Entertainment at night wasn't very good though, but if you go to the local town, 5 mins away, there is plenty of bars and minigolf etc... And if your partner wants to watch footie, then there is a great wee Irish bar 5mins away called O'Connels. Loads of wee shops too!
There are two beach's, one is next to resort, but is small, and looked like there was quite a bit of seaweed. Though, if you walk towards the town, near a hotel called American hotel (I think), there is a bigger and better beach, which we only found the day before we left. So I recommend that beach.
Overall it was good holiday and good value for money, and wouldn't say no to going back.

I booked this holiday, building my own package using the internet. After I had parted with my money I decided to look at the reviews. I then realised I had made a huge mistake as the reviews I read made me feel gutted. I was not looking forward to the holiday based on the views of people I do not know.
On arrival at the hotel we were welcomed with a glass of nice cold fresh orange and informed that the bar, and snack bar were both still open, although we would have to be quick if we wanted any food as it closed at 11.00pm.
The hotel was indeed a little dated but as far as the cleanliness goes we really could not fault it. The maids cleaned every day and changed towels if they were left on the floor. The room would benefit for a mirror outside the bathroom so that the transformation for the evening could be done in more comfort.
The food was of a good standard with a variety of dishes available every meal time. I really do not know how they could have improved it any. A typical meal included fresh salad, cold meats, pasta, rice, cooked meats pork, lamb, chicken, kebabs, and paella to mention a few. Desserts were equally as varied with cakes, fresh and tinned fruit and ice creams all in a whole range of flavours.
Entertainment was as good as you wanted it to be. Daytime included pistol and rifle shooting, water polo and volleyball, table tennis, French boules and archery. In the evening the entertainment staff worked hard to ensure that all languages were covered and again it was of a reasonable standard. The staff worked really hard to include people and both my wife, and I were always involved in one thing or another.
The bar was well stocked and the staff served people as fast as they could so waiting was kept to acceptable limits.
The village centre was about 5 minutes walk away with all the usual goods available as well as a selection of bars with entertainment on in the evening.

Just come back from Sol Balmoral with 2 kids age 6 and 4 had a ball, needs a face lift - so what, as long as the rooms were clean and tidy. Cleaned every day, staff were brilliant, went all inclusive which was fantastic, when I first went into the restaurant I thought this is going to be rubbish but the food was lovely, even my fussy 4 year old who I have never known to eat so much loved it, what else can I say?
Brilliant for kids, met lovely people from Liverpool and Manchester which also made the holiday. Would recommend Sol Balmoral not 5 star but its what you make of your holiday, sad to come home.

Well, all I can say is fab. The daytime entertainment was excellent. Made lots of new friends. Bars, shops etc 5min walk away.
Hotel was great, could only manage 1 week and came back a stone heavier. Fillip and Carla very funny (entertainment staff). Would definitely go back next year. Food was great, always well presented. Rooms clean and towels changed daily if you wanted, beds made daily. Pool clean with plenty of sunbeds.
Would recommend this hotel to anyone, its brilliant. Thanks guys.

I have just come back from Sol Balmoral. I booked this holiday as just a cheap quick getaway as was not expecting very much, and I would like to add I was pleasantly surprised.
The hotel I agree with everyone on here, it is in a desperate need of a face lift but our room was cleaned every day and after a day or two you don't even notice the decor, so no complaints about the room.
The staff at the hotel were fantastic and as far as the entertainers were concerned were brilliant always there to help, very funny, and really make you feel welcome, Top work guys and gals.
The Restaurant was quite busy but the quality of the food was very good and there was enough selection to suit everyone.
Overall for something I booked and was not expecting very much from, I have come away an extremely happy person and WOULD GO AGAIN!

Just come back from a brilliant holiday.
Food excellent. Rooms basic but cleaned daily with fresh bedding and towels. Daytime entertainment brill, Fillip and Carla thankyou.
Plenty of sunbeds, near beach, bars and restaurants. Will be going again next year.
Calas De Mallorca quiet, but we went out of season, still good. We did have storms whilst there but the entertainment staff kept everybody busy, so didn’t mind the weather.
Hotel is great. Can’t fault it and made plenty of friends.
