Highly recommended holiday, all the staff made you very welcome and was always trying to get you involved in the various activities throughout the day. The entertainment staff was top class and could not be faulted in any way. After reading some of the other reviews I was apprehensive about going to this hotel, upon arrival we were given a cold drink which was very welcoming. The food was exceptional and varied.

We booked a last minute break to Mallorca over the internet and as usual read a few reviews on the accomodation, everything seemed fine just a few people who we thought "could never be pleased!"
Three stars the listing said, so as this is supposed to be the general yardstick all hotels are graded against we thought it would be fine. We have stayed at many SOL MELIA hotels so was happy to take this above other options. We were mistaken.
You cannot put a candle on a turd and call it a birthday cake....
The hotel is tired, the staff bless them are warn out of offering excuses and the entertainment standard boarders but is beneath your local dramatic society pantomime.
The rooms are dangerous, bedside light fittings showing exposed wiring at toddler height. No locks on any patio doors leading to balconies and safe deposit facilities you need to pay for even though doors cannot be locked. There is no tv/radio in rooms something even B&B rooms have and a noisy fan to keep tempers and temperatures at bay. The most impressive part of the room is the bathroom which explains why the ants have relocated to this area.
Complaints are met with a blank stare to dissuade you from troubling them further. No sporting events or english tv are available in the tv room to encourage you to go out to watch football etc (thus reducing the inclusive facilities used).
Catering facilities and dining areas resemble the Ark Royal all grey and uninviting but to be perfectly honest the food was fine and the staff overworked but friendly (reception excepted). Personal highlights include the omelettes made fresh from premixed 5 gallon boxes and the waste bins at the end of the dessert counter, maybe the management could go one better and plumb a toilet adjacent to that....
This hotel does suit some people but not us, if you work hard and value what precious time you have with your family please choose a different hotel and spend the extra £50 for a real 3* as this at best is a 1*. The ambience is that of a hospital waiting room or retirement home, everyone waiting for some disaster. Budget on a hire car to transport you away from this tired hotel into the lovely countryside around.
How did we survive?? Booked into another hotel at a cost of £500 for 4 nights and only suffered for 3 nights.
Glad to be home

Just came back and had a great holiday, yes place does need a bit of a revamp, but look past that. Went with 2 kids, aged 6 and 10, both didn't want to come home!! Mini disco in evening for them, entertainment for adults great, Mowtown night was excellent, and Elvis was very good, parents get a break as well, kids clubs for all ages.
Food was out of this world, tried many different fish, meat and everything else, but probably weigh a lot more now!!! Would recommend this to anyone of any age.
Read some of the reviews before I came and was a bit worried about certain things, but we had a great time, rooms basic but cleaned every day, staff excellent, very friendly.
Had an excellent time.

Had a mad bang! Made lots of friends and got a lovely tan! The bar staff are also really hot and the food is YUMMMMMMY!! mmmmm!
Definitely would recommend it as a resort! WICKED NIGHT-LIFE! Go to -------> TIFFANY'S! wahey!
The apartments are very clean and airy! There is no air conditioning but if you leave the balcony door open you should be sorted!
Its both a lovely holiday destination for families and younger people! But more so between teens!

Just back from Sol Balmorral on Sat 8th Sep, 2007. To be totally honest I enjoyed it but I don’t think I would go again. I was a bit bored as the entertainment was basic at nights and over too soon. Most shows last 45 mins then that’s it lights out and off to bed. I’m not usually a moaner but I wish the staff could at least crack a smile at least once.
The food was ok and plentiful; salads, fish, meats and chips or potatoes and plenty of yummy desserts. My only whinge was the bar; the beer was bitter and the same for all the drinks basically cheap imitations! Lots have written its very run down but I never noticed. I would recommend it if you are all inclusive because I barely spent a penny because I ate free every day. I went with 600 euro and came home with 350 and lots of presents.

Firstly the hotel is spotless, at one point I counted more cleaners then guests. The hotel could do with a refurb looking a bit dated. But saying that you don't go away to sit inside. Rooms basic but you have a bed and good size bathroom what else do you need.
the food was good, meat and fish cooked fresh in front of you, chips on the menu every night but other veg served. Snack bar just warm ups not very good only went to snack bar twice.
Loads to do for kids and adults, helps try to work off some food and beer. Big plus no Germans, but plenty of French and Spanish who were all very nice.
Had really good week thanks Sol Balmoral.

Arrived on allocation on arrival, with my partner both 20 years of age. When we got there it looked very dull and dirty.
The reception looked very old fashioned and dull. The room was very plain and needed an up date also had a very strange smell.
The food was rubbish and greasy and made us feel sick. The hotel is in the middle of nowhere with no nightlife what so ever, and very rubbish entertainment at night. We were really disappointed as the beach were 30 minutes away and took us ages to find it.
We spent allot of money for this holiday and were really disappointed, we asked the rep to move us to different hotel or town but there was no look.
I wouldn’t recommend this to a couple as it is more for families who just want to stay in the hotel.
We couldn’t wait to get home, over all our summer holiday was a holiday from hell!!

I went to theHotel Sol Balmoral about a month ago and I loved it! The hotel is clean and what others say about it being dated it isn't that bad. The food was brilliant I came home about 2 stone heavier, there's food for all ages, but I must say they do like there fish.
During the day there are activities that go on which adults and kids can take part in and you can play against the hotel beside you "the chiwawas", which is a right chuckle!
What I loved about the hotel was the entertainment, I really enjoyed it every night they put on a show for you and sometimes professional acts come and give you a show as well.
You are 5 mins away from a small town where there are lots of places you can buy presents and things like that.
I believe there is a beach not far away either but we did not venture to it, we preferred just lying by the pool all day =D
But yes I would recommend this hotel, really good holiday!

I went to this hotel for 10 nights on my own with my 8 year old girl. Although I was a little apprehensive as I had never been on holiday on my own before as soon as we arrived at the hotel we were meant to feel very welcome.
The hotel was very clean, the food brilliant - although it got quite busy during the last few days as the school hols had started, and there were quite long queues for dinner in the evening, but they solved this problem by opening 1 hour earlier and therefore getting most people in without the queues.
The restaurant, bar staff and cleaners were brilliant and had a smile at all times for all the guests. My daughter enjoyed her holiday very much as she made lots of friends through the kids club (day and night) and really was upset when it was time to go.
I would like to thank you again for making our holiday perfect and wouldn’t hesitate to book again next year, a real perfect holiday, good value for money and great for the children.

We arrived at 3am, and on first impressions, thought the reception was from the 1970s! Rather shabby. The reception staff were ok, not over friendly, and the check-in took ages, copying passports and writing down my address! Not ideal when we were all so tired, and with a young child.
The rooms were very clean, although we had a few ants in our room and in one of the beds, and a sewage smell in the bathroom. We complained several times, but although the smell went, it came back again, and then it was time to come home.
The food was very good, and lots of choice, although the snack bar (which provided food when the restaurant was closed) was poorly stocked, and looked like it had all the food that was left over from the meal before. Unlimited drinks certainly saved money, with the kids just helping themselves.
The entertainment was organised by mostly Spanish staff, and was done in 3 languages, and after one night where we did a show/film quiz, we struggled to understand, we didn't stay to watch again!
The pool was good, lots of loungers, and a nice garden area with shade if needed.
The beach was about 10 minutes walk away, lovely and sandy, but could be reached by a lovely road train which cost 3 euros return for adults and 2 for kids, quite sweet. There a quite a few shops on the way down, and a mini golf too. Apart from that the area is quite quiet, which we liked, but my teenagers didn't!
Overall, a very nice holiday, lovely weather, good food, and relaxing. The hotel certainly needs a makeover though.

The hotel was fine but the self catering accom was quite basic.
The pools were great though, especially the one by the tennis courts which was lovely and quiet with plenty of sun beds.
You could also use the two sister hotel facilities and the entertainment was good.
All in all a very enjoyable holiday with a bus stop right outside the hotel.

Myself, husband and 3 year old daughter just come back from Sol Balmoral 25/09/07.
The hotel does look a bit dated and could do with a refurb. Staff at reception, bar and entertainment good, staff in restaurant need a few tips on how to be pleasant. Food great especially the desserts.
Pools ok even though were really cold. The kid’s pool has got steps into it and having stayed at other hotels in the past feel that the ones with the gentle slope that small kids can walk into is much better.
Nice beaches the one is literally over the road but down quite a lot of steps and the other is about a 10min walk away and gets much busier.
Our weather was not great but it was mid - late sept and you can normally expect a couple of iffy days.
Entertainment team worked really hard to ensure good time, mini disco, and champagne competition and then either a professional show or reps will entertain you.
Overall a good holiday. Will recommend to others.
