The shower tray in our room would not drain properly.
On closer inspection this was due to the plughole being full of hair and god knows what else.
Maybe they should get some proper cleaners in.

I stayed here for a single night and i have to say, before my arricval, i was rather apprehensive. This wasn't helped by the waring they placed at the first page of theior site - that there could be a lot of noise as it was situated on a busy road!. As it happened i have a... more

Stayed here with my friend prior to a concert at the Manchester MEN arena. Trawled the internet trying to find a room and this came up at £26 so we weren’t really expecting a great deal. We didn’t pay "The Hilton" money so we weren’t expecting 5*. We weren’t happy... more

This hotel was disgusting. The lifts didn’t work, the staff could not understand English and spoke to you like their friends.
You pay for a late check out 3pm and the housekeeper wakes you up at 11am to tell you to get out and waits there till you leave. Don’t stay here.

This Travelodge was clean and the staff very friendly. It's fairly well situated for central Manchester with Piccadilly just a 5 minute or so walk away. My room was a good size and furnished in the standard design of all Travelodge hotels - double bed, desk, TV,... more

Although it's fairly close to the city centre, the area around the hotel is a bit quiet with no shops or pubs but it's within easy walking distance of Piccadilly Station and is about a ten minute walk to the Arndale Centre. The hotel is standard Travelodge fayre, with a... more

I was down in Manchester visiting friends for the weekend. The hotel is very well situated only about 10 minutes walk to the main shopping area of Manchester. It is on quite a busy road, but I had a room at the back of the hotel so you didn't hear any noise. The room I had... more

Bargain if you get a cheap deal.
Got a room for £15, an absolute bargain. Travelodge have great prices if you book well in advance. Didn't arrive untill nearly 10pm, and feared they may have let the room go, but had no problems checking in. The room itself was fine, average size, spotlassly clean, appeared to have been recently decorated. The bed was uncomfortable, too soft so ended up rolling into the middle with my wife. Located in a slightly run down area, but only 5 mins walk to city center. No parking or even an area to pull into while you check in. Parking available nearby for £9 per 24 hours, which can increase cost of the stay, although even hotels with parking in manchester tend to charge a similar amount. Would reccommend if you can get a room for £15 or £26 through travelodge, but would seek other options if i had to pay full price.
Perfect
My family ( 7 people ) came to visit me for 3 days so I wanted to find a cheap hotel close to the city centre and this hotel was perfect ! They had 4 family rooms ( some were bigger than others by the way ) and it was 15£ per night per room... we could never have found something less expensive !! They loved it, it was clean, spacious and quiet. Only problem : their breakfast is quite expensive so they did not try it. Would definitely recommend this hotel !
Great value and location for the price
This hotel is great for people who want to be close to all the city centre attractions but don't want to pay high city centre prices for hotels. It is about a 5-10 min walk from the Arndale Centre, Picadilly Gardens and the Printworks. The Church Street NCP car park is about 5 mins walk away and £9 for 24 hours. The rooms are basic but that is why the rooms are cheap (We paid £26 - the next cheapest city centre hotel was about £70 a night). The room was clean with fresh bedding and towels, and excellent heating. The bathroom had a good power shower and although had slight marks on the floor and tiles was perfectly adequate for a night in the city centre. Overall this hotel is great for £26 - the location and price makes this hotel. It isn't a 4* but doesn't pretend to be. There is an information leaflet in the room which explains why there is only one towel per person staying in the room, why toiletries etc aren't provided HOWEVER this card does state that if needed you can request hairdryers, extra towels, irons and toiletries from reception - they are not automatically put in every room so to keep costs down, hence they can sell rooms for £26. I'd rather not have these in my room and ask for them if needed if it means I can stay over night in a city centre for £26! I wouldn't hesistate to stop here again, especially if I got the £26 rate!
Fine for the price
The rooms here are typical Travelodge. They are basic but clean & perfectly adequate for a short stay. Irons & hairdryers are not in the room but can be borrowed from reception. There is plenty of tea & coffee provided. It is about a 15-20 min walk to the Bridgewater Hall/GMEX/MEN, etc, and less to the main shopping area. There are a few pubs around the hotel. None of them looked very appealling, but it does mean that if you are walking back to the hotel at night there are always plenty of people around making it fairly safe. The bar & reception area are also clean & comfy. The ladies on reception were pleasant & seemed to be helpful as regards directions and guidance. Only real problem I found was the traffic noise which does go on all night.
It all depends...
I am from the U.S. and was on a limited budget to attend a conference at the G-MEX center. I found a deal on the hotel's web site for 130 GBP for 5 nights (26 GBP per night). By the way, the hotel is about a 15 minute walk to the G-MEX. There is tram service to there, but by the time you wait for the tram and walk from the station to the entrance of the G-MEX, it's about the same timewise as walking. The hotel is also fairly close to the Manchester Arndale mall and Great Market Street, where there is plenty of shopping and places to eat. The front desk staff was for the most part friendly and helpful. For example, when my friends in the city tried to contact me by phone, the front desk clerk came to my room to let me know because the phones in the room cannot contact the front desk and vice-versa. I only ate the breakfast the last morning and it was relatively good for the 6 GBP price - at least I liked it - others might not. I'll just say that I've paid more for worse. Here's what you need to know before you arrive. 1) Bring your own soap, shampoo, hair dryer and ear plugs. An extention cord may also come in handy as there was only one outlet in the room. A personal dvd player also comes in handy since the only channels on the 13" TV are BBC 1 - 5. 2) The rooms above Ancoasts street are very noisy, espcially if you need to open the window. It is like a racetrack late in the evening and early morning. That's where you'll need the ear plugs. There's also a couple of bars down there. 3) There is heat, but no A/C. 4) No wi-fi internet access. I didn't try the dial-up, since I didn't have a cord. So, I wound up going to McDonalds, Starbucks and eventually I found I could sit in a hotel lobby close to the conference center and get on the web there. For some reason, I had problems using The Cloud. 5) They have an iron you can borrow, but no ironoing board. I guess that's standard in the U.K., but it does make the job a little difficult. There is some counter space you can use with a towel (asumming your one towell isn't wet!). So, there you go. This hotel was a good solution for a tight budget, but the price is paid in other ways. (I've stayed in many other U.K. hotels before, so I'm aware of the differences between the U.K and U.S hotels.) I'm glad I didn't have my wife with me or we would have had to find another place.
For a one night stay only!
Booked into this hotel for one night as I was in Manchester for a concert. The location was excellent for the city centre and the MEN Arena - both are withing walking distance. The rooms in this hotel are VERY basic and they could do with investing in upgrading the mattresses in the rooms. Only one towel per person was allocated & only soap provided as toiletries. However, the hotel staff at reception were extremely pleasant & nice to deal with and nothing was a problem with them. All in all, I would recommend this hotel if you are travelling over for a very short stay - anything longer than 2 nights I would consider switching to a different hotel.
Not that cheap for the experience
Check in was easy, although the bar seemed to be full of groups of men on various stag nights. The room was very basic, and despite being a double room we only had one towel between us. The sink was dirty and hadn't been cleaned properly. We were warned to request a room at the back of the hotel due to the noisy street out the front, and am glad we did. Veggies be warned, the hash browns at breakfast had been cooked in the same fat as the sausages, and tasted revolting. Bar was cheap, but that's about the only plus point.
Almost OK
We stayed for three nights at the beginning of August. The hotel is in walking distance of Piccadilly station and Piccadilly itself, and is at the junction of two busy roads. It was hot, so you had the choice of the window open and cool and noisy or closed and quiet and hot. The room was o.k., but there was some mold in the bathroom and stains on the sofa and carpet. We asked for extra towels, but these were not replaced each day, nor was the spare lavatory paper, so we had to go down to reception to ask for it. We had a false fire alarm one morning at 06:15 followed by another two at 06:45, but they offered us free breakfasts that day as compensation. The hotel is not a disaster, but isn't good. On the other hand it is in the centre of Manchester, and cost GBP 48- per night for two without breakfast.
Not very good actually
Okay for the price but experienced some problems. Firstly, my girlfriend checked in several hours before me and they were hesitant to give me a key, despite the fact that the room was booked in my name !! Room was ok, but shower curtain allowed water to go all over the bathroom floor. Also, we stayed there during the hot weather and there was no aircon and the windows would only open a little, so the room was v.hot. Not a bad hotel, but not a good one either !!
Great deal, handy location
I booked a night at this Travelodge through Travelodge's UK website. They had a "supersaver" deal that cost me 10 pounds for a night's stay, which is fantastic. The hotel itself is located very near the main streets of Manchester. As a single, female traveller, I felt safe walking to the main downtown area (or city centre, as they say) from the hotel - it only takes a few short minutes. However, I'm not sure I'd recommend walking the stretch alone late at night since some of the streets are very quiet and desolate. The bed was quite large and comfortable enough. The bathroom was relatively huge, clean and well-lit - and there wasn't any issue with hot water or the water pressure. There is a restaurant located on the main floor, but I didn't eat there. All in all, a great value to be had! I'd recommend the location for anyone travelling on a budget.
