Akamanthea village is situated in the quiet area of Cyprus. Fantastic swimming pool and great staff. The brochure describes exactly what you will find - unless it is in black and white Olympic holidays disown knowledge. Self catering means no cooking, not enough for the number staying ie cutlery, plates, chairs etc. The operators on the telephone are very lacking in knowledge or worse, economical with the truth, as they will tell you facilities are available when they aren't! Wonderful place for a relaxing time, great places to eat, hire a 4x4 or truck and go see the landscape. I'd revisit but never with Olympic!

A very relaxing, peaceful place, the Akamanthea Holiday Village is very good with nice views of surrounding countryside, excellent facilities and friendly staff, we could not fault it.
Situated between the towns of Polis and Lachi in northwest Cyprus. Both towns have nice beaches with plenty of bars and restaurants.
Car hire is however a good idea to explore the many other interesting places on the island.

Firstly, what a fantastic part of Cyprus! I wasn’t sure what to expect because I had booked it four weeks before going on a late deal. I couldn’t have picked a better place. The hotel we stayed at was only in its third season and it was lovely. We stayed self catering although you could have been there bed and breakfast or half board. Our room was the best self catering I had seen. The one bed apt was spacious had a big fridge, had a big balcony and the bathroom was immaculate.
The staff were very friendly, sometimes a little slow but we were made aware by the rep that the staff were new and in training. We hired a car, which is a must for the area, but the nice walk either into Polis or Latchi was along the seafront. I wanted a relaxing holiday and that’s what I got, the hotel was spotless and there were plenty of sun beds to choose from. I could go on and on at how fantastic this place was. There is a bit of work going on in Latchi Marina but my advice is go there now before it loses its charm as small fishing villages.
Myself and my partner are only 24 and most couples were more middle age visiting however, everywhere we went we were welcomed and we met so many nice people.
Polis and Latchi is a must for nature lovers and those who are looking for a relaxing holiday, with lovely fresh fish restaurants to choose from. Polis has a few little bars if you fancy a night on the town but overall, the area is very quiet but well worth a visit.

Lovely location halfway between Polis (town 2km) & Latchi (fishing village 2km) you can walk to both, but if you're walking to Latchi take the beach path, paved and much prettier.
Nice holiday village with some timeshare. Our appartment was clean and basic, great pool although we hardly used it. The kitchen was basic with 2 electric rings, no freezer compartment in fridge, no microwave, and the minimum of pans & other kit. If you want a large cup of tea buy some cheap mugs at the local supermarket in Polis (we did). On site restaraunt did a good breakfast, but the night we ate in it was only just ok. However there are loads of good places in Polis (We enjoyed Finikas twice) and in Latchi much better than the Akamanthea.
Good supermarkets in Polis: Papaantonious is large and as good as Tesco/Morrison & there's a smaller E&S COOP. Forget about the on site mini market, it's very small and was closed in October anyway.
If you have a car do go out and about. The Pahpos Forest, Western Troodos Mountains and Kykos Monestary were a great day out. If you're into history the ruins near Episkopi were good as is are the Mosaics in Paphos. 20kms up the coast Pomos has a really pretty harbour, and pebbly beach and the Kanelli Taverna is good (great views)
Do take a jeep Safari of the Akamas Penisular, it's the only way to properly see it. The drivers know where they are going so you see a lot you would otherwise miss and you don't have to worry about driving yourself off a cliff (it can be rough in places but it's worth it)
If you arrive on a night flight (we did 2230 at Paphos) and haved hired a car to pick up from the ariport (Avis) make sure you take a map with you from the UK and ask for directions before the rep gets on the transfer coach because Avis didn't provide one and neither did Olympic Holidays nor directions to Akamanthea ( we'd booked via Thomas Cook in the UK.) The Akamanthea was 45km from Paphons Airport Had we not asked for directions to Akamanthea which were then written on the back of an A4 sheet we'd never have found it. that was the only really bad bit.
Otherwise a a great base, a lovely area and a great holiday for two 50 somethings who have left the kids as home
