Swallow Newton Hotel

Spend three nights at this hotel. This was probably not the best season and since I was on a business mission there I did not have time to enjoy the environment. Hotel is clean. Staff is friendly. Rooms are otherwise average. What once was supposed to be some kind of a castle is not very visible anymore. Nothing remarkable to consider coming back.

We went to Nairn as my husbund had never been to Culloden so we were wanting a nice relaxing break. Thats what we found at this hotel. Our room was round the back and we stayed Thursday and Friday night. At times it was so quiet in our room, it was like we were the only people staying there!! We had breakfast here and dinner and couldnt fault the service or the food on either days. I had never had food served to me when the waiter was wearing white gloves before!! Very posh!! I have been many times to the Newton and always look forward to my holidays there.I went in October for a few days and also in June earlier this year.My room on my October visit was situated at the front of the hotel overlooking reception.The room was very nice with a stunning view over the sea,a good size too.All was well the first couple of nights,very quiet.However my visit coincided with a couple of weddings,and that was the last of the quiet nights!.The main problem is the wedding guests gathering on the reception steps having a fag,at... more

I've stayed at either the Newton or the Golf View more times than I can count. I recall that when Morton Hotels took over a few years back, I looked on the exchange with concern, but found they were misplaced. When Swallow took over, my concerns were again raised, and again misplaced. Both hotels are, in my opinion, better than ever. Staying here was a seriously impressive surprise. Given that a) it was the cheapest hotel we booked from a 5-day tour of Scotland and b) it was one of the only hotels with last-minute availability over the Christmas period, we were not expecting too much. Upon arrival we were met with friendly staff and treated to a very impressive menu. The hotel is a very high 4 star with large rooms, king size beds and one of the best power showers I have ever had.

My wife and I had the pleasure of staying at the Newton with a VisitScotland "Autumn Gold" offer. At £45 D,B and B I have to say this is the best value trip I have ever had! A beautiful and impressive hotel, clean and comfortable with truly outstanding food on all three nights. Extremely courteous staff and excellent service, they even helped push start my car with a smile! Hotel fairly recently taken over by Swallow group. Good value when booked via laterooms.com We had nice room in extension - not worth rack rate though! Food not up to 4 star rating especially breakfast where fruit starter choice appalling when place quite quiet. Found adequate at rate paid for one night for getting easily to Inverness Airport

Now owned by Swallow, witha higher star rating than suggested on this website, (**** I think ?) this hotel has managed to successfully blend the modern and the traditional, extremely stylish public areas and comfortable rooms. Excellent food from the AA rosette awarded restaurant, beautiful grounds, friendly staff, and use of the health club at the Golf View just 5 minutes walk away. We got married here and all our guests thought it was the best wedding venue they had been at !
