Great Apartments
10 / 10
Sep 2011, kezza

Me and my husband stayed here for a week in Sept 2011, and really enjoyed our stay. The room we stayed in was nice and clean. And the maid came round and cleaned it every day. We were supplied toilet roll when we ran out (we had read reviews where they stated you had to buy your own!)
The pool was always clean, and plenty of room to sunbath.
The staff were really friendly, such a nice bunch of people.
The entertainment in the week was fun too :-)
We had lunch in the Apartments every day, and it was fairly priced, and always tasted good :)
Really enjoyed our stay... is only about a 10-15 minute walk to the beach as well.. And has a supermarket just around the corner...
We had everything we needed in the Apartment, nice balcony where we could see part of the pool. Clean fridge, hobs, cups and plates , and everything needed for a self catering holiday.
When we arrived at 3am - they were happy to change money for us , and there was staff available to help take our cases to the room.
I would go back here again for sure... Nice and cheap, and really enjoyable :)

We recently stayed in the Xanthos Apartments and, in the 12 years I have been holidaying in Marmaris, has to be the worst hotel I've ever had the disfortune of staying in.
Upon arrival at the hotel after 10 hours of travelling, the hotel staff didn't help us with one item of luggage, this included three suitcases, three hand luggages, and my three year old daughters buggy.
When we went to reception we were told we had been allocated a basement room, even though in Thomas Cook I had paid for a top floor studio. We then had to move all our luggage down a flight of stairs, past a filthy kitchen and toilet, to the room we'd been allocated which, I can only compare it to a prison cell.
The curtains were hanging off the wall, it smelled really badly of mould, there was no kettle, pans, oven hob in the kitchen, even though it was a self catering room. There was black hair all over the bathroom, a broken shower, dirty sheets, no table or chairs on the balcony and a group of stray cats sat on the balcony ready to pounce.
I went back to reception and asked to be moved to a different room and was told this may take up til nine oclock at night. I said that isn't a problem as I wasn't willing to let my daughter stay in there for even one night.
When we were allocated a different room this was on the top floor of the hotel. Again no staff came to help us take all the luggage plus a very energetic three year old up four flights of stairs. But the room we were moved to was a little bit better than the previous one.
After this we were very reluctant to stay in the hotel throughout our holiday so from this point on the staff were very hostile and unfriendly (apart from the receptionist). We were also referred to for the rest of the week as "them who moved rooms".
My three year old daughter, who has down syndrome, is a very pleasant and friendly girl and when she approached staff to say hello they just looked at her and turned their backs.
If you are thinking of holidaying in Marmaris I strongly advise you not to book this hotel. Luckily my parents were staying in another hotel in the resort and they were more than welcoming and let us use their pool daily. They also allowed my parents to babysit my daughter and let her stay overnight. I would greatly recommend the Blue Palace apartments which is just a short walk from Xanthos Apartment.

we stayed in this hotel in sept the rooms were nice very basic but clean. it overlooked a small chicken farm with lots of cockrels that woke you up from 5 every morning very annoying!!! there was no entertainment apart from jay jay the owner of the bar who thought he was the entertainment the bar staff were very friendly apart from a couple that were very flirty with the females to the point of being annoying i had to keep a very close eye on my 17 yr old daughter who they just wouldnt leave alone. it was central to the bars and restaurants but we woulnt go back to this hotel again

Great hotel, but..

The hotel was extremely clean and the rooms were some of the best I have seen in Turkey. I was very impressed when I arrived. The air-con was great and even stayed on when you were out, which normally isn't the case as you have to leave the key fob in for the electric to work. We ate breakfast in the hotel for the first few days, which was nice, nothing special but nothing to complain about. After about 5 days, due to my family staying in another hotel and having various excursions booked we left the hotel early and only came back to sleep, as you do. After this, 90% of the hotel staff stopped talking to us and gave us dirty looks as we weren't spending any money there. I thought this was out of order as they had been so nice and had a lot to say to us when we first arrived. Needless to say, we refused to spend any money there at all from this point.
All in all, really nice, clean hotel. Just the ignorant staff to complain about.

I have been to turkey 3 times now in 3 years, meself, my boyfriend and my 5 year old daughter went to the xanthos in july we were made to feel very welcome by all the staff and made some great friends too. we ate at the apartments a few times and the food was always lovely and well presented. The hotel staff were great and always got you involed, they love to do dance shows and teach you the dances as well which was great fun. The pool area was nice and you could always get a sunbed. We stop in room 213 which was basic but was clean and the maid was always friendly, the shopping is great for all the fake clothes (which was my fav bit as i love to shop). Jack, romeo, jay jay and all the other staff were very nice to us all holiday and we are now friends on facebook so it's nice to keep in touch. My daughter had a great time and loved playing on the park and jumping in the pool, in fact we had that much of a great time i cried all the home from leaving the hotel and for 3 days after when we got home. I can honestly say that these apartments are lovely and you will have a great time if you go, luckly for me i am going back in sept with my boyfriend why my mum as my daughter, so this time we can let our hair down i can't wait to go back and see everyone and get back on the dance floor for a boogey.

These are apartments are AWFUL!! We arrived and were shown to a basement room, i can only compare the room to a prison cell it was tiny and the smelt of damp and mould. Some reviews say it is basic but i think that is being genrous. On our balcony that was underground, we had a pigeon coop which woke us up in the morning at 6am. We moved from the apartments eventually and all we got was a filthy remark from one of the barman who think girls are jhust there for him to sleep with!!!!!

AMAZING HOLIDAY
10 / 10
Jul 2010, DannyBoii

This was my first time to Marmaris and i have to say this hotel was one of the most amazing hotels i have been at. It may be 2 star but i have been in 3 and 4 star hotels which arn't as entertaining, fun and enjoyable as this hotel. The facilities are simple and basic but there is everything there that you need, fridge, cooker, bathrooms, cuboards, glasses and plates etc. All rooms have their own space and balconies which gives you your own freedom. The food taste gorgeous, no complaints with that. And the staff are very friendly and like to get you involved in activites and dances. Had a fantastic time, will deffinatley be there next year. Jack the head bartender, best guy i have ever met, along with Romeo, Mehmet, Neco,JJ, Danny and the others. GREAT LAUGH! Surrounded by all shops and restraunts that you need on holiday and a ten min walk from the beach. However the pool is better :)

Whilst here be wary of everything. The air conditioning doesn't work and you are charged working or not and should you feel brave enough to leave the apartments and venture elsewhere to eat and drink (As we all do on Holiday)you will be berated by the staff for not spending in their business and worse barred from the bar!!! Very childish. God forbid Turkey will soon be in the European Union with all this third world attitude. Oh and if you're female you are treated as a second class citizen and harrassed even more to spend at the site. Some members of staff are very rude to women ( I'm a bloke by the way)To the point of being positively insulting.
All in all don't bother here a bargain it isn't.
A shame as the resort in general is worth a visit.
So leave Xanthos Apartments off your list and tell your friends the same.Even the Thomas Cook Rep is fed up with the attitude of the staff!! I write this as I am sat poolside by the way! At another nearby friendly site!!

Management response from yalcin Kilinc, management 17 Jan 2011

Dear Guests, During the summer of 2010, we rented out the bar to a 3rd party. This we believe caused some unforeseen issues between the renters and a few of our guests. We would like to take his opportunity to apologise for any incontinence this may have caused our guests. We take on board the comments of our valued customers and are happy to inform you that as of now we will no longer be renting out the bar but operating it ourselves as we have done very successfully in the past years. Wishing you all the best for 2011 and hope to see you this summer. The staff and management of the Xanthos Apartments

I love this place!!! Had the best holiday ever there 2 years ago and went back to visit this year. The staff are amazing and make you feel so welcome. The entertainment in the night has gone so much better than 2 years ago, there is something for everyone here. I remember the rooms being basic but lovely, very clean. The pool was an okay size. Food is lovely with a lot to choice from. I would definatly reccommend this place and would consider going back again :) :) :) :)
