We thought the rooms were very basic with an air conditioner that dripped for our entire two week stay. The family that ran the hotel and the staff that worked for them seemed quite unfriendly. This hotel might be ok if you get a poolside room, however we were unlucky and... more

Clean Apartments
I stayed in these aparments back in 2006, they are in a really good position and very clean. Staff were friendly and were always there to help! Pool was lovely and clean and they have a seperate area for children, be careful as can get really slippery when wet. July was absolutely boiling and kept getting hotter! Would recommend them, however i have stayed in other nicer ones.
A little disappointed overall
Room We stayed in a 1 bedroom apartment. The apartment itself was fairly small although big enough for 2 people. You certainly wouldn't want 4 adults in here! We had to move the 2 single beds so they were together in order to be able to open the wardrobe door. There were plenty of hangers and the storage space was adequate. We never used the kitchen but utensil wise it was fairly well equiped. There was not a toaster and no oven. There was a 2 ring plug in hob. The apartments were surrounded by lots of other apartment blocks and the ones behind us were particularly noisey that you were usually woken up at 3am by shouting. Maid service was excellent although we only had our towel (1 each) changed once in the week we were there and that was on day day 6? The bathroom was small but adequate. The shower was not great and the usual style were the bathroom floor gets soaked although there was a spongy mat on the floor to try and soak up the water. Hot water was only available from about 3pm - 7pm. There is no hot water in the mornings so you may have to boil the kettle for a wash. On our last day we had to brave a cold shower as we had a 10am pick-up. The balcony was very big and we were in front of the garden area which smelt lovely of Jasmine. Pool Area Nice and clean, one problem here to get a sunbed in the sun you need to have your towel down by 8am and for the best ones 7am. Some of the sunbeds were pretty much in constant shade so if you don't mind this these were usually available until later. The bar staff walk round and will take your food and drink orders and bring them to your sunbeds. Apartments in General Air conditioning is £35 / week and it's in the bedroom, it's not needed at all at the moment as sometimes it was a little chilly in the evenings Safe is £5 / week and again is in your bedroom. Exchange available at reception, we were getting 2.15 to £1 and that didn't change in the week we were there. Resort There were no mosquitos here at all. The resort of Icmeler is massive and it wasn't quite what I was expecting. On our first night we got a lot of hassle from people trying to get us in their restaurant and one even got quite aggressive. Turkey is no longer the bargain it used to be - in fact I found it more expensive than our recent holiday in Zante. Food was not too bad - approx. £10 for a main meal but alcohol was a joke in you don't drink beer. Cocktails 10 YTl - 14 YTL Efes Beer - 3.5 YTL - 5 YTl Bacardi & Coke - 10 YTL - 18 YTL Local Vodka & Coke (which was disgusting) - 8 YTl - 10 YTL Toilets around the resort was excellent, very clean. The weather was a bit mixed, we had a couple of days of cloud and some rain, one night the weather was awful heavy showers, windy, thunderstorms. There was about 3 days of hot sunshine. On the day we left it was overcast and had been raining in the morning. We didn't have a very good end to our holiday as our group of 4 all came down with a severe sickness and diarrhea bug that kept us in the room on the last day. At first we thought it was food poisoning but after talking to others in the apartments a number of groups had had exactly the same illness. I am still suffering now and have not been abale to eat in 3 days. I would not be surprised if more people staying there became ill as it's so easy in that kind of environment (especially in the pool) to pass these kind of bugs on. I keep telling myself that this could happen anywhere but it has not left me with good memories of Icmeler or the Pinewood. In summary, would I return to Icmeler, probably not although I would not be put off visiting a different part of Turkey.
loved the veiws
we arrived at the pinewoods after the long coach ride from the airport we were shown quickly to our room no 73 lovely veiws up to the mountains and the wonderfull gardens lots of flowers shrubs ect' the apartments are very basic but the balcony was huge and thats where we sat when in' my only moans is the shower a 3inch shower tray water flooded over floor and shower curtain wasnt long enough and i was nervouse about useing hairdryer as that was the only socket to a mirror'and standing on the blue soaking wet blue sponge mat which soaked up the flooded floor thats the moaN over.....the apartments are in the old village small supermarket lively local bar de je vu biro eko and there boys are very freindly when we fist got ther we though we were out on a limb not so 5 mins walk down to big supermarket tansas you can get buss down the road to beach and the centre but there was loads of resturants bars on this road never had a bad meal ate in loads very good food in all wine was ok as well from the bars beach food people i loved our holiday the scenery was amazing we will be back next year to the pinewoods because of the lovely pool freindly staff and you get a good nights sleep .....ps no shallow end in pool but kids pool does the job to cool you down forgot to say the food i pinewoods very good we ate ther twice no pressure they know you want to go out different places on eve
Lovely place, sooooooo clean!
Just got back from a week at the Pinewood apartments. We had a fantastic time. The pool was the cleanest pool I have ever been in. The staff did NOT try and pressure anyone into eating in the restaurant, they were very polite and friendly. Also the council in the resort have stopped the people in shops/bars etc being a nuisance. If you say no thank you they leave you alone. The only minus point was the lack of umbrellas around the pool, and the fact you had to get up before eight to get one as the temp was upto 120 degrees! I would recommend taking an umbrella with you as we did. We had lunch in all the surrounding apartments, and they were no where near as nice or as clean as the Pinewood, we will be back. Oh and when you walk down to the beach in the evening. Go to the left and walk up on the cliff as there are some lovely restaurants/bars that are so tranquil. If you go to the second one a long with the downstairs loo, ask for Murat and say Mark and Julie sent you and say hi to him for us. It really was a lovely tranquil bar.
great time at the pinewood.
just returned from the pinewood on tues morning after a week stay, travelled with my husband and 2 children,on arriving at the pinewood we were greeted by 2 guys who very quickly took our suitcases and carried them up the stairs to our room, which was nice as we were tired after the long ride, rooms were lovely, very clean and canny spacious,we had groung floor room with a pool view which was nice,we always got a sunlounger, but i found the apts to be quiet,so not sure what it would be like in the summer, weather was in the 40s every day, never seen a cloud,we didint bother with the aircon as it did turn a little chilly on eveings, but that was nice, the staff at the pinewood was very nice and friendly, there is a supermarket just round the corner from the apts, were u will get most things and is open 24hrs,we did notice tho the staff wanted u eating and drinking at the apts most of the time, and couldint understand if u went else where? we r the type that likes to go in resturants and try out some diff food,so they did make u feel guilty, outside of the apts was o nightmare for us,this was our 1st time to turkey, and will def be our last, which is a shame as i did have a lovely holiday at the pinewood it was JUST the HASSLE u got when you walk down the main streets,i have never seen anything like it in all my life...i know they need our money and stuff as they dont get paid very much but com on, they end up making u run a mile,if they would just leave it out a little maybe i would of spent more money in the shops, most of them we come across were over the top,and marmaris was even worse,u cannot even look at there menu outside as they just go berserk, but like i said the pinewood was fanstastic, just a shame they hassle u soooo much it was getting me down by the end of the week,so will never be returning to turkey.
Top Holiday at the Pinewood
Jackie & Steve, Hindley What can we say, this was our 4th visit to Turkey and the Pinewood and it was as fantastic as the 1st time we went. We hadn't been for 3 years and it was like going home. The owners remembered us from our last visit and the staff were all pretty much the same as when last there and still as friendly and helpful as ever, always on hand, whatever your needs. The apartments were extremely clean and we even managed to get the same room we had last time which was great, overlooking the pool. The quality and presentation of the food was as good as any restaurant, if not better in some cases., worthwhile eating in before you go out a couple of times. Overall these apartments and staff are definetely worth visiting and if had to give marks out of 10 it would be 10 plus, would certainly recommend to everybody to take a visit to these wonderful apartments. They are surrouned by hills and wherever you look there are Pine trees, hence the name. We had a great time and have lots more wonderful memories.
Fantastic
What a fantastic place to stay! Reading the reviews on the site give me the push to book the Pinewood Apartments and we weren't disappointed. The staff were really great, always on hand whenever you needed them. The Apartments were really nice and the Air Conditioning defiantly came in handy as it was reaching 45 most days. The pool area was fantastic and there always seemed to be plenty of sun beds. I was abit apprehensive about going to Turkey to be honest but I had no need. The people out there made our Holiday and we will be returning again in September. There is so much to see and do you won't be bored. Thanks to everyone at the Pinewood Apartments for a fantastic Holiday.
Clean and friendly
Booked the Pinewood Apartments due to good reviews on another site. I have to say that the rooms were very clean and maintained to a high standard as was the pool area and gardens. The owners were very friendly. On the negative side we found the apartment small, for example in order to open the wardrobe you had to move one of the beds, and to access the safe you had to move the other bed. The bedroom door could not be closed because the bed was blocking it, which was ok as there was only two of us, but not so good if there was more people. They only provided one bath towel each which were only changed twice per week. The shower was small with curtains, not a proper cubicle. The bathroom floor always ended up soaking after using the shower. The pool was clean, however the sun beds had no mattress's so we chose to use other pools. The Pinewood is in a quiet location and only a short walk to everywhere. I would recommend the Pinewood for families with children but not if you like peace and quiet during the day by the pool. Please be aware that there are some steps in the complex which may not be suitable if you have mobility problems, appox 18 plus two flights of stairs to our apartment. Overall we had a good holiday and found the apartments to be of a reasonable standard.
Did not want to leave.
We arrived early in the morning and were taken straight to our apartment. It was a large, clean apartment overlooking the pool. I could not sleep so I spent the early morning watching the sun rise and the beautiful mountains appearing into view from the balcony. The mosque calls were starting and sounded so haunting at that early hour. The poolside bar served wonderful food and nothing was too much trouble for the staff, who were all very friendly and always spoke to us. The room was cleaned everyday and the cleaner told me all about her family....well, as much as we could understand each other! The pool and garden area are kept in immaculate condition and you could always contact the owners if necessary..we never needed to, it was perfect. We didn't go on any trips as we just wanted a relaxing break, but we did take a water taxi to Marmaris for a day...how different it is to Icmeler. Big, noisy and bustling....we made the right decision to book Icmeler! In the town centre were plenty of bars and restaurants that were all very good , but if I had to reccommend any where it would be 'Charlie's Place'...complete with the pet terrapins they showed us. We went with another couple and they enjoyed it too. I will definitely return to the Pinewood as soon as I have the pennies!
Best holiday yet!
Just arrived back home today from our best family holiday to date. We booked 4 days before we left and were told we would either be staying in Greenworld Apts, Babadan or Pinewood. My eldest son and partner had wanted to go to Greenworld as this was a 4 star but after reading reviews of all 3 I had hoped I would be sent to pinewood and I can tell you we were not disappointed. We arrived at approx 7 in the morning and after the long delays due to the terror threats we were very happy to be met off the bus and taken straight to our room instead of queuing at the reception to check in which is what I have had to do on all other holidays I have been on. The rooms were a fine size, quite basic but very clean. The gardens are well kept and the pool is lovely. You don't have to take money down to the pool as they just put it on your bill and you settle it up later. The staff are so friendly it is un-believable. They will do absolutely anything for you. We ate out a few times but found the hotel food to be the best and we are very fussy. You must go to the BBQ at the hotel (every Sunday). If you want to go to a waterpart I suggest Atlantis in Marmaris. I spoke to another family who went to the new one in Marmaris but they said it was awful as there was no shade and you were stuck there for the day. Atlantis costs about £9 or £10 - it is not huge but we still had a great day out and you can catch the Dolmus or a water taxi back to Icmeler whenever you want to leave. (you also get free sunloungers and lockers) There is a girl who goes around taking photos and they only cost about £2.50. We spent most days by the pool relaxing and I can honestly say we will definately be back. The owners actually come to say goodbye when you are leaving. I have stayed in a 5 star hotel before but never have I been made to feel so welcome as I did at Pinewood. Thank you Ibrahim and Semra (the owners), Yusef, Barry, Arif and Eddy (barmen) for making our holiday so wonderful. See you soon. Lana, Barry, Callum and Cool Robbie XXXX
