Hotel Born

The Born scores highly on location (top of the The Born - surprisingly enough...). It's an impressive old building with courtyard, beautiful lobby, and impressive staircases, and the staff are hyper friendly and helpful. I had a single room so unfortunately had no view (and no natural light) but it was spotlessly clean with good heating (which I had to turn off the room was so warm). The Born is a charming hotel in a perfect position close to the Cathedral. The marina, shops and restaurants are just a short stroll away. Breakfast is in a lovely courtyard although not a large number of outside tables available. You need to book a courtyard facing room as the rooms facing the road are smaller and darker and apparently can be noisy. This hotel is excellant value for money. Good trips to take are train to Soller and coach to Port Andratx for a pleasant paella in one of the many waterside restaurants.

Excellent hotel but please please if you are booking make sure you get a room facing the courtyard otherwise you will be awake all night....... its so so noisy in the laneway where the remainder of the rooms are facing. Having said that its a beautiful hotel and the staff are great so would definately highly recommend.

This hotel is great value and in a fantastic location. The rooms are nice, but fairly basic although very clean. The hotel has a lovely courtyard for breakfast and a very nice lobby. However, it is the location that gets the the tops marks. Can't wait to return to the Hotel Born again.

The Born is ideal for a short city break. It is located in the centre of Palma near restaurants bars etc and is full of 16thC character.(No lift) Quiet superior room overlooking internal courtyard where breakfast is taken,adequate bathroom, good value.

We stayed for a couple of nights in February. There was no working heating in the room and it was freezing. It is definitely not a hotel to stay in for a winter break. It certainly has character, and is fairly well located

We stayed at the Born for a week in October 2004, we booked a room with double bed nine months in advance and ended up with a smelly room with two single beds-very romantic. We asked to change rooms but no suitable rooms were available. There was a lot of noise early in the morning as they cleaned the courtyard and the TV remote control did not work. We asked for an extra pillow but the maid said there were none avilable.The breakfast was very good but overall it was disappointment and not worth paying double the cost of the Hostel... more

excellent hotel in the heart of the city, better than I expected service great, save no one congregated at the bar when we were there but drinks could be bought. Would have been nice at night for the bar to welcome guests after an evening and to sit around before bed but perhaps that was the clientelle at the time. Only downside no pool but everything else makes up for it, cleanliness, food, staff price and location

I stayed here in June 2004, I found the staff very friendly and helpful, the room (single) was spacious, clean and very comfortable. The hotel is right beside the hub of the town with the historic sites close at hand. Food was of good quality and with a Mallorquin twist - after all that's why I went to Mallorca!! I would recomend it to anybody.

The Hotel Born is an oasis from the heat and dust of Palma. We only stayed at the Born for two nights before sailing for a week. If you stay here, try to get courtyard facing rooms. Although located in a side street of the old city, the hotel is wonderfully quiet and peaceful. Our two rooms were quite large with ok bathrooms. We had to tear ourselves away from our breakfast table in the courtyard to go sight seeing. (hint; courtyard tables fill up around 9 am).
