Superb Accommodation
Clean, excellent food, friendly and professional staff
relaxing atmosphere with superb food and wine
After a difficult 6 months with my mother in hospital and eventually dieing suddenly,we felt we needed a complete chill out break. The Selkirk Arms was an excellant choice where we could come and go like at home. Rooms where spotless and there were extras such as fresh fruit to help yourself to etc. Meals were excellant with super waiting staff for whom nothing was an effort. We would definatley go back
The Splendid Selkirk Arms Hotel
Having served as an Officer in the British Army for the past 16 years I have sampled some of the very best food and accommodation and conversely some of the very worst. The Selkirk Arms Hotel in Kircudbright as a 3 Star establishment provides an extremely high standard of cuisine, service and accommodation. As an all-rounder it should be considered towards the top of its rating. The setting is idyllic, the management and staff are some of the most helpful and friendly I have ever encountered. The restaurant and bar menu... more
Room For Improvement
My husband and I stayed at this hotel over the May Bank Holiday. Accommodation in Kirkudbright was hard to find - all the B&B's (which were my first choice) were full. This hotel got good reviews on Trip Advisor and had a room left, so we stayed here. It is situated in a quiet residential location. Kirkudbright isn't that big, so everything is within easy reach. We stayed in Room 17, a twin room that was a bit past it's sell-by-date. The bathroom although big, had bacteria around the bath area. The bed's were hard and rather small for... more
very friendly
Only stayed one night booked through late rooms under a very good offer. Arrived quite late 8.30pmish dinner stops at 9pm we were requested to order more or less right away, which we didn't object to but not really four star attitude. Meal we had was fine, pretty large portions, fast service and reasonably priced, but certainly not red rosette standard. Bedroom for the price we paid was acceptable, bathroom could have been cleaner! Breakfast was very good and again fast service. Overall for what we paid we got value... more
Overnight Stay
2nd December 2006 Enjoyed our overnight stay in the hotel we had dinner in the restaurant and could not fault anything if anything the portions were huge and great value, the staff were very attentive and friendly. Would consider booking again when the weather was better. janette & Ian Sneddon
Fantastic hotel Fantastic people
Gillian and I arived at the Selkirk arms hotel, after a days mountain biking in glen trool. We were tired and with dirty bikes. The manager was excellent, he gave us a great room, and offered us a safe place to store the bikes. We stayed for the weekend, and eat in the hotel at night, where the food was brilliant. The breakfasts were superb as well. Absolutley no complaints whatsoever. Highly recommended. Ian.
Very friendly hotel
My sister and I really enjoyed our short stay in this very friendly hotel . My sister is disabled and the staff couldn't have been more helpful . The rooms were spacious and attractive .The food was of a high standard and it was very pleasant to just walk out of our rooms in the old cottage part of the hotel and sit on the lawn and have morning coffee or before dinner drinks .
Do Not Waste Your Money
We really expected a lot more with the money we spent on this room, especially considering it was the off or slow season. The room was small, dark and not particularly clean. The staff was not very plesant and the hotel seemed riduclously overstaffed for the hand full of people staying there. Due to the fact so many things were closed in town including the two 'good' restaurants we ate dinner at the hotel. That was a mistake, we would have been better off getting snacks from the grocery around the corner. I'd reccomend staying in... more
Great hotel with very friendy staff
We have just returned from a 2 night weekend stay at this lovely hotel. We had a double room in the cottage building which was large & spacious & overlooked the hotels gardens. The bathroom was more than adequate with a large bath tub & very nice toiletries. We obtained a rate of £83 per room per night by advance purchase through the hotels web site. The restaurant in the hotel was very pleasant with large patio windows overlooking the gardens. The scottish food we ate was well presented & tasted truly delicious. The staff were... more
