We stayed at Delta Hotel on the Damrak, number 42 (the main strip) from 19th March'08 till 21st March for my hen do.
Not much to look at from the outside but inside it was like a 5* hotel!
Cost:
6 of us shared an 8 bed room for 2 nights at £42 per person, including breakfast both mornings.
Location:
Our room faced the canal and main Damrak strip, the front of the hotel. 10mins walk from Dam Square and not much further away from the nightlife of the bars and nightclub 'Escape'. Perfect location.
canal boat rides were opposite us and we were central to all the shops and coffee shops.
Food:
The food was excellent and the staff were brilliant in the hotel resturant downstairs. As a guest you get 10% off meals and drinks too- remember to show your room key!!
Drinks are allowed to be taken upstairs. Resturant was very clean, you can watch them cook as the kitchen is open. Its also open to passers by for food so its not just guests eating there but we had no trouble with finding a table and they are very accomodating for larger parties (moving tables around etc)
Breakfast was included in price. Bacon, eggs, beans, toast, yogurt, fruit, cereal, tea, coffee etc.
Lunch served until 4pm, baquettes etc.
Dinner, open till 11pm, was excellent. 9.25 euros for spagetti bolognase for example, huge serving too!
6 euros for large bottle of water, 3 for hot chocolate with cream - delicious!
Rooms:
VERY comfortable, huge pillows, proper quilts, white linen, no itchy blankets! Good towels, replenished if needed. Very clean. Double doors open onto balcony, can lean out but not big enough to stand on. Smoking was allowed in rooms.
Bathroom was big, open shower/wet room. 6 mirrors in room,
TV with music channels and english subtitles (not that you would want to stay in much, but good for a lazy morning!!)
Desk, wardrobe, bedside tables, sofa and table and safe box in room. Excellent room , would highly reccomend.
be warned thou....if you are not a smoker you may not appreciate the stale smell of smoke in the room! But the double balcony doors are a blessing, and if youre going to smoke in the room anyway it doesnt matter!
our room was cleaned, there made our beds and tidied towels etc but left all our clutter where it was which was great! Didnt have to tidy things away before going out.

Stayed in this hotel for a Lads weekend in Amsterdam, was pretty cheap so wasn’t expecting much from the accommodation but we were pleasantly surprised.
There was 6 of us in one room and we had plenty of space, room were clean with a good bathroom and breakfast was lovely.
Amsterdam itself is a wonderful city full of things to see and do, I would definitely recommend a visit to Ajax stadium and the zoo which is excellent.
Everyone should make a point of visiting this city at some stage as it is truly unique.

I recently went to Amsterdam with my parents. We traveled there by ferry (overnight) and spent four days in Amsterdam itself. Shortly after we arrived in Holland, we took a bus to Amsterdam, we then had a five minute journey to the train station (where a Dutch woman on the ferry had assured us there would be luggage lockers) before we set off to roam around before our check in time (5 o'clock).Overall the weather wasn't bad, the first day was very sunny, and the rest were warm with occasional showers. The city itself I loved, it was so vibrant and lively. Full of people, none of whom cared about what anyone else thought.
The only thing that I could find to beat this energy, were the flea markets. Most of which are about a 15 minute walk from the city centre. Our favourite, although not the biggest, was the furthest away from our hotel, yet we still went there three times. It had car boot style stalls, army stalls, ones that sold weed lollies and everything else to do with the drug, clothes stalls, picture stalls, and even one that sold fairly large balls of felt with sequins in (of which I bought three).
The best cafe/restaurant in the whole of Amsterdam (well my favourite) was the Espirit cafe, on a street parallel to the main square, beautiful, fairly simple food.
Not all of the energy was confined to the city however, as one of the main experiences we had was on the ferry. This was concerning the ships band, Night Queen, the name possibly speaks for itself. We spent a rather enjoyable hour listening to them before the music quiz, and also trying to decide whether the lead singer was a man or a woman, in the end we settled for a man in drag.
Amsterdam is too big an experience to fit into a few paragraphs, to really experience it, you have to go there and to live it.

Just don't go there, I've given one point for it's position, central and next to a really great chip shop. Don't know why it's scored so highly on this website, check out trip advisor for more realistic reviews.
