Ramada Viking Hotel

Use the hotel website to book as it is cheaper than booking over the telephone. Ideally located if you are on business and have a meeting in the IDA industrial estate. Its location out of town means it wouldn't be suitable for anyone on holiday or having a weekend break. Check-in was very slow, the food in the bar was very poor but the rooms were comfortable and quiet and the hotel was great value for money at €79 for the room. Definitely give the food a miss. Travelling on a last-minute business reservation, I stayed at the Ramada as it was conveniently located to the nearby IDA business park, approximately 10 - 15 minutes outside the city centre by taxi. Having stayed in other UK/European Ramada hotels, I didn't have particularly outstanding expectations, but the hotel didn't reach those and really was more Travelodge than full service hotel. I stayed at the Viking Ramada in Waterford the evenings of July 26 & 27, 2006, along with my touring choir group. The hotel is new - very modern, and sparkling clean. The decor is modern, but very comfortable. We had a large room, with a very nice bath. There was no a/c, but we could open the windows wide and get an excellent breeze, so we were very comfortable during the evenings, despite the current heat wave in Ireland. This hotel is just outside the city, if you are looking for a hotel you can walk home to from the pubs, this isn't it. We found the Ramada Viking to be wonderful. It's quite new and the rooms are large compared to many European hotels I've stayed at. We had a very pleasant nights stay and would definitely return. The buffet breakfast in the morning is plentiful and worth the cost.

We booked this hotel at the last minute but gave at least 3hours notice...when we arrived the"2" receptionists couldnt find our booking ref. We had to wait over 30mins for them to tidy and organise the room. I work in retail and expect good customer service but didnt get it here. If they were nice about it i wouldnt mind as much but felt they were ignorant!! The room was nice and spacious and the bed was very big esp if u had an argument with ur other half!!! My wife and I stayed in the Ramada Viking Hotel in April 06. As I’m confined to a wheelchair this new hotel is just the ticket for relaxing, the lifts in the hotel ensure everywhere is wheelchair friendly / accessible. The staff are really friendly, helpful. The beds are so comfortable you just have to try one. The wheelchair accessible showers are great. If the Ramada hotels in Ireland are as accessible as the Ramada Viking, (We have no reason to think otherwise) we will visit one of them. The buffet breakfast with such choice was the... more
