Stayed one night bed and breakfast, not booked. Must have seen us coming. We had been travelling on motorbikes all day and needed accomodation for the night. 90 euros for a double room bed and breakfast. Room was basic but clean.our fellow travellers said their room was even more basic and not clean. We used our shower that evening, there was plenty hot water but shower had no power so you have to stand very close to taps. No hair dryer in room so bring your own. Went into village to visit a local pub before evening dinner.Advised not to eat at holtel by locals. Went to Castle retaurant up the road. Had a nice meal there. Breakfast next morning was poor. We ordered full Irish. The beans and tomatoes arrived when we had almost finished and the sausage, hash brown and black/whit puddings appear to have been deep fried. our travelling companions arrived at breakfast to say shower in room does not work. Teir breakfast was definitely deep fried although when brought to attention of staff we were assured chef had grilled the breakfast. When manager was requested he/she was unavailable and amazingly staff on duty do not have authority to deal with complaints.
We had stayed in a hostel the previous night 20 euros a person and it put the hotel to shame in terms of facilities and cleanliness.
We would not recommend The Village Hotel, Tyrellspass to anyone.
