Boat Hotel

Whisked my husband off for a romatic weekend at this hotel - 'what can I say', fanatastic stay, helpful, friendly staff. On arrival met by the hotel manager who proceeded to check us in to one of the standard rooms which was very large, clean and, comfortable. Tea and coffee were provided in the room as was a TV and CD/radio. This room had no bath however it had a good shower which meet out needs. We stayed at the Boat Hotel for 2 nights in late December. The hotel is located at Boat of Garten near Aviemore in Scotland - about 30 miles south of Inverness. Our room was decorated in fairly typical British country hotel style, was clean and comfortable ... and warm! Bathroom was good with shower over bath. The hotel has 2 restaurants - one in the bar and the other a formal dining room. We ate at the bar restaurant both nights and the food was very good. My wife and 9 year old son stayed stayed here in August 2005. We stayed in very comfortable suite with a superb bathroom and great views over the forest and mountains. The stuff are excellent and very friendly. Food is available in the bar area and restaurant and both were to an high standard. This is a very well run hotel which I can recommend.

Spent one night at The Boat in one of their Executive rooms. Rooms recently refurbished, big modern bathroom but still with that authentic 'squeaky floorboard' feel in the corridors that confirm you're in a Scottish country hotel. Staff of various nationalities, were all very friendly and helpful and it was good to have the option of mixing with the locals in the well worn public bar. Highlight was going outside after breakfast to watch the steam train depart literally outside the front door! Excellent.

Stayed at The Boat for 3 nights. Beautiful location in a very quiet village with the steam railway next door and the village post office opposite. Very impressed with the welcome we received. Slight warning - the upstairs of the Boat are quite rambling and you may find yourself at the end of winding corridors and various staircases. It would appear that the hotel is made up of various buildings that have been connected together at some point in the past so it does have lots of levels and very creaky floor boards. Very welcoming hotel, really friendly staff who go out of their way to help. Rooms are a good standard if a little old fashioned and maybe a bit on the small side. Bathroom was very modern and had a roll top bath, and seperate shower. LCD TV and DVD player in the room was a nice touch. Restaurant was excellent and could not really be faulted. Residents lounge is a strange hotch potch of furniture but it is nice and quiet. Hotel is right next to the strathspey steam railway but you could hardly hear this from your room.<br... more

Have just returned from 2 nights in the Boat Hotel, our third visit. Stayed in newly refurbished suite,102, bliss. It looks out over the steam railway and with the mountains in the background a great view. Staff are exceptionally warm and friendly. The food in the dining room is excellent. The bar menu is equally good. I would recommend this hotel as a place for a quite break. There is a golf course next door and plenty of fishing nearby.

My husband and I stayed here in May 2004 whilst touring 'Monarch of the Glen' country. We stayed in the the Spey Suite which was gorgeous - huge room, huge bed, beautifully decorated and with a stunning bathroom! The food was delicious. The other public rooms were lovely to relax in and the atmosphere was very friendly. It was lovely to find a hotel with such high standards yet no snobbery!

Visited The Boat for the first time recently for a relaxing, child free weekend and I have to say we were not disappointed. Our room was lovely with crisp, white linen, Cd player and plasma screen TV and the bathroom was straight out of an ideal home magazine - huge walk in shower and a luxurious roll top bath. I stayed at the Boat Hotel for second time in November 2004. It was a three night break with dinner in the restaurant included. The hotel is in a very quiet location but only 30 minutes in the car from Inverness, Loch Ness and Monarch of The Glen country. It is located right next to the Strathspey steam railway and local golf course with excellent views across the hills. The rooms are clean, well maintained and the executive rooms are really smart.
