The La Florida Apartments were basic but clean. Towels and linen were changed regularly and staff were very friendly.
One of the downfalls though was that reception was not always open and was not open at times stated on the board. A side gate was used to get in and out of the building but was not a problem.
Location wasn't the best as it was up a hill but there were bars and restaurants all the way up and the shopping centre was a 5 minute walk away. Nightlife was about a 20 minute walk away but was very cheap to jump in a taxi to get to.
There was a supermarket underneath the apartments which could be noisy in the morning but as we requested a low floor room with a pool view we were fine and had a pleasant stay. However staff at the supermarket were not very friendly.
The pool bar was also closed when we went as it was being renovated which was a bit of a downfall however going out of the apartments was not a problem as no one really stayed in them at night.
Weather was gorgeous for November. Only rained once and the rest of the week the sun was shining. Pool was clean and pleasant to sunbathe around.
I would recommend the La Florida Apartments.

I booked this holiday last minute for a week in September. I was very apprehensive about staying here after I read the reviews.
On arrival, the reception was closed therefore we had to get our keys from the bar downstairs. This was worrying at first, but the bar worker was happy to point us in the right direction to our room.
La Florida is located in the old town and it is up a hill but it never bothered us at all, during the day we enjoyed the walk, and returning home from a night out in the new town, it was a five-ten minute taxi ride which is cheap!
The harbour is at the bottom of the hill and there are some lovely eating places around here. There is a shopping centre near by (in between old and new town)which has well known shops and eating places.
The apartments were clean but basic. We found this fine as we ate out every night therefore only really used it as a base. The pool area was small but we always managed to get a sun lounger(free). The bar is handy too for a drink or some food during the day and there is a supermarket right next door which was great.
We went through to the market for the day which was a nice day out. However, do not book this at the reception, as local buses run from outside the hotel and it is cheaper! Also, you could come and go as you please, rather than having to be back for a certain time to catch a bus.
After finding this out, we decided to go to Playa Blanca for the day which was a beautiful part of the island, again going on a local bus.
We tended to eat out in the old town and then head to the new town for the night, there are lots of bars along the front and also a centre with lots of bars, I would imagine the nightlife would get very busy during summer. There is a stall on the front which sells crepes at night and they were amazing!!!!
The only problem I had with this hotel were the stray cats. They tended to wonder around the hotel at night and this prevented me from keeping the balcony door open for air.
However, this would not stop me from returning, I am thinking of going back this summer!

For the first time ever my wife and I went abroad for Xmas we went to Lanzarote on the 20th DEC for seven days. I had read a few reviews of the apartments before we went some were good and some were not so good but having been with Seguro before we knew that a lot of their self catering apartments were basic but usually clean. The flights were on time and arrived ahead of time we were only 15 min on the coach to our apartments which were in the old town of Puerto Del Carmen.
The old town is very hilly and would not recommend it for anyone with walking difficulties. The apartments look nothing from the outside you have to go through a shopping centre to get to the reception but don't let that put you off once you are in the reception there are a few stairs which take you up to the pool level where you have some apartments looking over a very well laid out and clean pool area. We stayed in a one bedroom apartment which was very nice and had a small starter pack of water and cleaning materials.
The only draw back on the apartments is the security entrance at night is up a lane at the side of the apartments which is not very well lit and you sometimes have to use it in the day as the reception is closed between 12.30 and 4.00.
Well Puerto Del Carmen is full of some great restaurants and pubs in the old town down by the harbour is really very nice with some great views. The new town is only 15min walk away and is more lively. With a great selection of entertainment for young and old and some good shops as well.
Further along the coast is Los Picolos then Mata Gorda which are a lot quieter you can walk to these but a taxi is only 5 euros hope this has been of some help to someone who is thinking of going to Puerto Del Carmen as I intend to go back this year.

Having read earlier reviews I was a little concerned but after contacting our Travel Agent we were informed that there had been some problems last year but the Seguro representative had visited the complex and since then there had been no complaints.
We found the apartment to be very clean with some nice touches eg flowers on the coffee table, a bottle of drinking water, packets of paper hankies for use in the bathroom, washing up liquid supplied in the kitchen and the usual kitchen hand towels etc. Maid service was 5 days each week, towel change 2 days each week and bed linen weekly. The staff were friendly and helpful and our only gripe, if you can call it that, was that the reception was not always open .
It closed each day mid afternoon and then closed down after 9.30 pm each night and the doors were locked up with entrance thro` the side door. Not a problem as such but could be better with a full time reception area. Overall very enjoyable holiday and just to confirm the pool was very clean and the staff were out each and every morning cleaning before 9.00am
As previously stated fairly basic but very clean and I would recommend the apartments.

We had such a FANTASTIC time here! I would recommend these apartments to anyone. Ok, so there is no lift but if you are fit and agile - should be no problem! Lugging your suitcases is a small price to pay for such lovely views. Our apartment overlooked the pool and the sea. We were on the third floor. The apartments were clean and had everything we needed. The balcony was very private - the design is well thought out. There WAS night security and we were given a key and a code to operate the back gate after hours.
There’s a big pool and a kiddie pool and ample amount of sun loungers. There’s a bar onsite whose owner is very nice and friendly.
The location was excellent. We walked everywhere. Supermarket right next door and endless amount of pubs, clubs, and restaurants. 10 minute walk to a fab beach.
The staff at the apartments were very friendly and helpful. We were allowed to leave our luggage in a designated area on our last day.
Stay at La Florida - you won’t regret it!

These apartments were not very clean to say the least. On arriving at the apartments there was sweet wrappers under the bed they where still there on the last day of my holiday, as was the dust balls in the living room and on the balcony obviously the floor had not been brushed let alone mopped.
We arrived at 11pm but reception was closed and there was a sign instructing us to report to the bar outside the building. The barman handed me a key and told me to use the side gate in a deserted lane to let myself in. Not the best start after a total of five hours travelling.
On the third night of our holiday a group arrived that where staying above us. The music went on and the party started at around 9pm and did not stop until around 5am. After complaining about this at reception the next morning - as there did not appear to be anyone available to deal with incidents through the night as reception closes at 9.30pm and does not open again till 9.30am the next morning. With a break between 1pm and 5.30pm-nothing changed for the rest of the week.
There in no lift in the building so you will have carry all luggage up the stairs. There is no night security anyone can jump over the side gate and in the complex no problem. There are cats all over the complex so don’t leave your balcony door open as they will make a dive to get in to your room. There are too many cockroaches in these apartments crawling on worktops and cooker in the kitchen and in the wardrobes in the clothes in the bedroom.
Finally I have always thought that if your checkout time is in the morning and your flight is late evening that you leave your luggage secure in the hotel, however, when I enquired at reception about this they looked at me as if they had never been asked such a thing before. They agreed to let us leave it there but where very non-committal about it. Please take my advice and do not book this holiday.

We stayed here for 2 weeks and found the accommodation to be well kept and cleaned daily with plenty of clean white towels too. Never seen a cockroach in the apartment in the 2 weeks and certainly never saw anything furry behind the seats!!
I agree that the reception closes in early evening but during our stay there was a night watchman who incidentally has an apartment on the ground floor and would keep an eye on the place and we also heard him telling some young teens off for making noise after dark.
Of course they are not state of the art apartments but the bathroom, bedroom (Inc. beds) were as clean as a whistle, as was the kitchen. We did find the bedroom dark and stuffy at night. We knew not to open the windows/shutters anyway as the mozzies will be in. The lonely little alley way a previous reviewer mentioned is indeed where the side gate is but its not a long walk up a dark alley:) its about 10 steps from the corner of the building at most. So!! We were there in 2002 with our teenage daughter and she made loads of friends - none of the parents were complaining about accommodation either.
So this year we are going back to La Florida - Yes! Going back! We found it clean and well looked after and value for money too. Having said that, I wouldn’t stay in an unclean place, even if it was given away free. I used my plug-ins for the insects every night as I do on every holiday too. The down side is that there is no lift and yes the luggage carrying is no fun - but in fairness we knew that before going and still asked for a high floor.
The la Florida is in the "old town" of Puerto del Carmen and its great for food - and any amount of restaurants to choose from. The drinks are cheaper here than on the main strip in the new town and the food is soooo good in these places. For a meal on a budget (but it wont feel like a budget night out) try Slow Boat Chinese down in the harbour area. They have a set menu 2 courses for around €8. Also Dolce Vita in the harbour and El Tomate just beside the Shopping Centre in the Old Town - where you can find Timberland and Zara to name 2 stores. If you are looking for nightlife of the young and trendy nightclub kind than I am afraid you are in the wrong part of town. This is much more family orientated with lots of bars to choose from too. This will be our 4th trip to Lanza:)

Me and my friends when to the La Florida apartments in march and were I have to say quite worried about the apartments as we had read bad reviews about them, but when we arrived there our opinions soon changed.
The apartments are clean and spacious, the pool is clean and there are lots of sun beds to go around. The only problem that we had is that our money got stolen out of the safe in our room which did not get solved. Even though this did happen we will be returning in October but will just out our money somewhere else.
The location of the apartments is perfect it is in old town near some low key bars, supermarkets and shops and there is a taxi rank at the end of the road which you can go to new town in where it is all happening for just approx 3 euros. The apartment is however situated up a steep hill and up an alley way, but the alley way is not as bad as it sounds.
