Europe Hotel

I read the review of the person from Canada and felt obliged to put my thoughts on paper. I can only surmise that this person did not stay in Hotel Europe in Killarney. Not only did I notice a huge change to last year's decor but I understand that over 5 million euro was spent on the lakeview rooms. They are stupendous and so warm and welcoming that I'll certainly be there again this year. Don't die yet! You haven't taken in the finest lake view on earth! The Reeks that rise from Lough Leane have lifted my spirits every time I have returned. The proximity to fine fishing, horseback and golf enhances the "whole package" this hotel has to offer. Check out the modern bar, the views from the dining area and the swimming pool below. Enchanting! Don't miss the Sunday brunch. I've stayed there four times in the past 13 years. Pricey - but don't let it deter you. Staff was very helpful when needed.

We were very pleasantly surprised by the beauty of the hotel and the property at Hotel Europe. The rooms were very large, comfortable and extremely clean. The entire staff went out of their way to provide excellent service with a "make yourself at home" attitude; from the front desk, the dining areas, the bar and the gift shop, to even the housekeeping staff. We had booked this hotel last minute, based on the fact that it was a five star we expected something nice.However on our arrival we were bitterly disappointed. It was extremely old fashioned the bedroom was terrible. Even though it was 11.00 pm when we arrived I just couldn't stay in this hotel. The staff were nice and didn't cause a fuss when we said we didn't want to stay but frankly I would have slept in the car rather than this hotel for me it would class as a two star. Over priced, bad food, un-cooperative & rude staff, coupled with a manager that looks 'down his nose' at his guests, all in all the Hotel (worst in) Europe was a bad experience and I dare anyone to waste $350 dollars on a good view where a B&B can give you all you need. Myself & my Fiance had a very costly lesson on how Not to be treated while on holiday, the hotel caters for Germans only and no other nationality. The Hotel Europe is a German-owned, but Irish-run Hotel about 3 miles away from Killarney. As such, the "flavor" is somewhat Continental. The Hotel is spotlessly clean and the rooms are comfortable, in not somewhat Teutonic in appearance. The food is good but nothing special. There is fishing, an equestrian center and swimming pool/fitness center on the premises.
