Eviston House Hotel

11:30 pm. Cold & Tired after an hour long 120 euro taxi ride from Cork Airport I checked into the Eviston with the Night Porter. The deal I had as the single occupant of a double room was extremly good, booked through Ireland Hotels. I was expecting the usual route march to a back room & got it. Right at the back in an obviously recent extension I found the room amaisingly nice well set out but cold. The rooms are fabulous. The bar service and hospitality is excellent and the management is very accomodating. The jaccuzi Bath was one of the highlights of the stay. It is very relaxing

We visited Eviston House Hotel in the week of 7th December 2006 and arrived one evening as part of a Shearings group in the pouring rain. We were all greeted by Christopher Walker, the General Manager and all ushered into the bar where there was a huge roaring fire and given a very welcoming glass of mulled wine. Our bags were delivered to our room without fuss and our keys made available to us at our leisure. For a large hotel, we found the Eviston to be very comfortable and cosy. My wife and I came with WA Shearings from UK. It was our first coach holiday. On arrival in Killarney, and to the hotel, we were pleasantly surprised to be greated by the hotels General Manager, who came onto the coach to welcome us, and explain our meal plans, and give a general overview of the hotel. We were also very surprised that the quality of food was excellant Breakfast started with a help yourself buffet of juices, cerels, fruit segmants, and fresh whole fruits. This hotel is quite acceptable and right in downtown Killarney near the National Park and Cathedral. It has it's own free parking which is a necessity if you are driving. The in-house "Danny Mann Pub" was excellent. The hotel is due for renovation, but you could do worse.
