Westwood House Hotel

My girlfriend and I are just back from a weekend in the hotel. Set just outside the city, it's perfect for a city break (about 10 min walk from Galway centre). Staff are very friendly and helpful and the room was average, nothing special. I really am at a loss to see how this hotel is rated 4*, I would say it's a definite 3*. Nice hotel for a city break and reasonably priced as well.

We stayed at the Westwood House Hotel as part of a tour group. Our room was large and very clean. The food was very good and well presented. The reception area is full of comfy places to sit and has wonderful marble flooring. The floors all along the perimiter of the reception area were all stone and very nice to look at. Bathrooms in the room were spacious as well. The shower/tub had no shower curtain, but had a half door, so you have to be careful about getting water all over the floor. Beds were ok, but not the most comfortable.

Hotel is located outside of town. We were here on a sunday evening so we didn't try going into town. Rooms were large and the bathroom seemed extra spacious. The food in the restuarant was very good. We sat in the lobby after dinner and got drinks from the bar. Very nice atmosphere. Staff was very helpful. We did have problems with room keys not working but the staff promptly came to help.

This hotel is located outside a business park. Within 30 to 40 minutes walking distance to city centre. Taxi to city centre cost 7 to 8EUR depends on traffic. It offers the following breakfast: 1) tradition- susage, 2 eggs any style, bacon, dark and white pudding. 2) warm salmon and scramble egg. 4) cold cuts with egg. Toast, ceral, fruits. 5 different juices. Restaurant and reception staff are very friendly. They can order taxi for you. 3 types of newpaper for free at reception. Celebrated our Son's Wedding there on July 16th, we could not have asked for better standard or Service. Thanks to all concerned.

We just spent a pleasant 2 night stay in this hotel. Bar supper food excellent, restaurant dinner excellent, service excellent, the only things that let it down are housekeeping in the room could have been better, quite a bit of dust in the not so vacuum accessible places and cobwebs in the ceiling corners. Would recommend it to anyone, try to avoid Saturday wedding reception nights, had our own live band playing till the early hours of the morning!

We just returned from Ireland and stayed at the Westwood House for 2 nights in Galway. It was a terrific hotel -- nice size rooms, great service, clean and nicely decorated, excellent breakfast. The only down-side is that it isn't in the heart of the city, but a bit on the outskirts. We drove or took cabs into town; not sure if you could walk.
