from gemma70
me and my partner stayed at the sunrise hotel this year november 2007 for 3 days. arriving at the sunrise hotel what we saw seemed ok, theres a bank to walk up to get to the hotel there is'nt a sign with the hotels name on so if your coach doesnt drop you off to the hotel good luck! the food was shocking we were all-inclusive, we got there in time for tea had a look to see what was on tonight to find that there was a few choices of pork and chips. or spaghetti with sauce, spanish salad. breakfast was fine. arrange of cereals, toast, water, orange. the bar was ok even tho we were thrown out at 12! and no where was open because it was out of season. hotel was clean just a shame about the food and satff.
mmmm ok

Arrived at the hotel and went straight to our room. Two Adults and two teenagers. Surprised to see we were given 2 double beds!! Receptionist at first could not see the problem with this, however, reluctanly agreed to change our room but not until after breakfast the next morning. After breakfast went to reception to be told by a different receptionist no room was available. After some huffing and puffing agreed to let us have a room but we had to vacate our room by 10:00 and could not get into the new one until 14:00. Said we were not going to leave all our belongings in a room where everyone had access to so we told we would have to stay put. Rang the hotel chains rep who sorted it out with manager for us and asked us to see the receptionist after 2pm. Went down she still would not give us the key. Eventually got sorted. Paid for large room with sea view. Got small room (but with 4 beds) at the side of building. Would not recommend as was above the kitchens and there was banging and machines going from 7:00am until around 10:30pm. Hotel definately no more than 3* and only just. Set on a hill stairs everywhere and lifts not to all floors. Unsuitable for anyone with walking disabilities. Food Ok. Very repetitive, chips never cooked. A great deal of fish and pork. Not many no meat/fish dishes and very few vegetables if you are vegetarian. Not impressed neither when family next to us were told to hurry up as they had run out of tables. Drinks were served in plastic cups which were horrible. There were queues for drinks but there is a separate area for the all inclusive. Breakfast was served 8am - 10:00am, lunch 13:00 - 14:30, dinner 19:00 to 21:00. Hot dogs, burgers/chips etc server 12:-- - 14:30 and sandwiches served later on. However there was no food available outside the restaurant after 14:00 hours. We got a taxi on arrival at the airport and booked with the hotel for the return (which needs to be booked the previous day) at a cost of 50 euros each way.
ok, could do better

Upon arriving at the sunrise hotel we made our way down to the reception from an awkward layout to be greeted by staff on reception who needed a lesson in customer services. Throughout our stay we encountered both directly and through observing other guests that the staff at the hotel were at times, short and rude!! There would be little point in going into any detail of these frequent occurances but we felt strongly enough to write this review. Stairs in the hotel were also an issue for some guests so be prepared to do some walking. However, on a more positive note, the pool, sauna, jacuzzi and food/drinks exceeded our expectations. The hotel was always clean and well maintained. All in all, the experience of visiting Spain was good. It was a relaxing holiday.
Loved it

We stayed at this hotel for one week 1st august 2007 we are a family of 4 2 adults and 2 children age 4 and 7. We had a room facing the main street which was not air conditioned so very warm and there was much noise all night with party goers coming home from the clubs in lloret (they were not in our hotel just walking past) However the hotel is spotless the food on the all inclusive program was excellent and plenty of it with a good variety, the guests who stay in this hotel are mixed nationality which was nice. The entertainment of an evening was ok and the children got involved every evening which gave the parents a break! we met some fun people who were english guests staying the same time as our visit, a big hello to the fishers, the scousers and the Beaver family you know who you are! We would definately go back to this hotel its in an excellent location for shops and the beach, dont forget to phone the hotel when your transfer drops you off at the miramar hotel as the streets are too narrow for the coachs to go to the hotel door so the hotel minibus picks you up from the hotel miramar dont forget this bit or you may feel stranded if you arrive in the middle of the night like we did!!
This hotel is fab!!!!

Hello Me and my friend (ages 21 an 23) from Manchester in England, went to this hotel on 21st May until 29th May 2007. As we only paid £200 each (booked independantly) for 8 nights in an All Incusive hotel, we weren't expecting much and very very pleasantly suprised. The people at the hotel were so friendly - bar staff, cleaners and the guests (reception not so good!!). The hotel consisted mainly of Dutch and German, although there were some English, Italian, Icelandic and French that we spoke to. As some people may see the lack of english as a good thing, I personally was pleased about it - there is nothing worse than being on holiday and feeling intimidated by a group of drunk, rowdy Brits!!!! Most people from other countries spoke English, which made us feel really ignorant as we ony knew English!! Bar staffs English not brill, but who cares!! The All Inclusive deal was good, drinks from 11am to 11pm (little early for my liking! But the bar stays open til 12 and you can pay for drinks at a discounted rate). Breakfast is open from about 8am til 10am (i think-wasnt there much), Lunch from 1pm til 14.45pm and Dinner from 7pm til 9.30pm. Wasn't that impressed with the food, but someone must have been because there was always plenty of people in there. Toasties available most of the day from the bar and ice cream. If you go here - please try the Sangria - its gorgeous!!!!! The only main downside of this hotel is all the steps everywhere - you even have to walk up loadsa flights of stairs just to get to the lift!!! Alot of people had injuries while we were there from falling down these stairs - but maybe the alcohol was partly to blame! If your going for the clubs, just to let you know that its about a 10 minute walk into the busy part. The beach is about 5minutes down a hill, but the beach is made of little tiny stones - not sand!!! Really hurts your feet! Oh, and sunbeds were 4euros50. The rooms are clean and a reasonable size, some rooms had 2 single beds used as a double and one single, but others just had 2 singles. I would definately go again, its a lovely place with great weather and great people. Great value for money, I'm missing it already! Oh, and just so you know, security at night are quiet strict on people keeping quiet when you get in (good thing I suppose). We made great friends and had a fab time with the lads from Amsterdam, so if their reading this - thanks for a great first part of our hol!!!! Hope you enjoy your hol if you decide to go here. Fantastic holiday

Loved staying in the hotel, was comfortable the staff friendly (even more so if you try and order/ask for stuff in Spanish). The room was good thought basic and the only English TV channel is euro sport. The food was very good quality but goes quickly so get there early for your meals!!! The only downside was that the steam room needed to be manually turned on most days as the staff didn’t bother too and the sauna was broken and unavailable all week. Also this hotel is totally unsuitable for the less mobile or disabled as it is at the top of a very steep hill. There are 2 lifts, these only go to the floors with bedrooms on them, not to restaurant, bar or reception area and lots of step’s between them

Brief outline Myself and my husband booked this hotel through teletext. For the two of us for one week during mid May '07 it cost just £150 each. Food is available for 10 hours a day. The hotel is all inclusive so this means wearing a bright yellow band on your wrist but this allows you: buffet meals in the restaurant; breakfast 8am til 10am, lunch 1pm til 2.45pm and dinner from 7pm until 9pm. The bar is open from 11am til 11pm. You can get food from the bar 12 til 2.30pm which is hotdogs, hamburgers, crisps, olives and nuts. Children are allowed ice cream from the bar too. From 4pm until 6pm cakes, tea and coffee is available in the bar. From 7pm until 10pm sandwiches and toast is also available from the bar. One minor annoyance is that at the bar you are only able to order 2 drinks at a time. Also included in the all inclusive deal is free use of darts, table tennis, mini golf (on the hotel roof!), jacuzzi, sauna and Turkish bath. The hotel It is situated at the top of a hill, our transfer was included in our price but was through Meli tours and the bus dropped us off at the bottom of the hill leaving us to find the hotel ourselves. (We booked a private taxi back and it only cost 45E from the hotel to Girona airport). The car park is on floor three however the hotel reception is on level one. I would advise that the hotel is not for those with mobility problems as there are lots of stairs (even after you have used the lift.) In the reception is a lounge area and there is also a seperate library room with a variety of various books (probably left by fellow travellers), comfy seats and a Spanish tv. There is also a seperate games room with a pool table, dart board, air hockey and another tv. From the lift is one set of stairs to the restaurant and one set of stairs to the recpetion and 3 sets of stairs to the bar. From the bar there is direct access to the pool, sunloungers and access to the street (via a ramp or even more steps!) If you turn left after the ramp then it is just 10 minutes walk to the sea (down a busy but safe street). Outside there is a childrens pool and a proper pool-neither of these are heated though so it is a bit of a shock to the system after sun bathing all day. There is a indoor heated pool, jauzzi, sauna and steam room just up from the bar this is open from 10am til 8pm. The rooms We were in room number 407. Our room had a view of the car park but we could see the sea. We had three single beds (!)(despite there just being two of us, a tv, a safe, a double built in wardrobe, a dressing table and two chairs. We also had a balcony with plastic white chairs and a table. We had an ensuite with a bath and over shower, toilet, sink, bidet (and plenty of space for hanging things and putting various smellies). There was no tea and coffee facilities but there was two electric plugs so bring your own. The restaurant My advise is to get there at the start of the serving time to make sure you get the best (hottest) food and best table. It is a buffet and a eat all you want. Breakfast: meats, cheese, various breads, fruit, yogurt, 3-4 hot products (a choice of bacon, sausages, beans, omlette, hot dog sausages, fried eggs, scrambled eggs and chicken nuggets (!) ) churros (a still doughy doughnut tradional to Spain) croissants, cakes and biscuits. You can also serve yourself fruit juice and hot drinks. The waiting staff dont start work til 8.30am. Lunch: a choice of four salads, five hot dishes and potatoes/pasta or rice and about 5 desserts as well as fruit and yogurt. Dinner: again four to six salads, six to eight hot dishes, potatoes/pasta and rice and 6 desserts again there is fruit and yogurt. One thing I will mention though is that if you are vegetarian then it is not the hotel for you-even some of the vegetable dishes have meat/fish in. This did not bother me but it may bother you. The food cooked is majorly traditional Catalan cooking. So be prepared for veal, snails, octopus, fish. On a Thursday or Friday the restaurant does a special meal with extra fancy food including a lot of seafood and special Spanish dishes. At reception you can order a picnic for the next day (good for when you go home and need food for on the plane) it is a good sized picnic consisting of 2 bread buns, salami, ham, dairy lea, spanish omlette, butter, ham and cheese pasty, a cake, a piece of fruit and a bottle of water. More than enough even for the hungriest of people. (plus this is free on all inclusive) The area Lloret de mar is a big resort if you are looking for traditional little Spanish town it is not for you. Where the hotel is though it is reasonably quiet though and you are not disturbed by the clubs/bars at the other end of town (most nights all we could hear was the sea). It is a nice beach although it is pebble not sand. Sun loungers and parasols to hire cost 5 euros. There are loads of tatoo parlours, braiding shops, souvenier shops, restaurants (three burger kings and one Macdonalds if you miss home that much!). There is a market on a Tuesday close to the bus station near the Casino. There are many buses from Lloret to various other towns and cities , you need to buy your ticket first (this also books you, your own seat on the bus). A trip to Tossa de Mar costs just a few euros and it is a beautiful town. Barcelona is a one hour bus journey away and costs 8 euros each way. The hotel staff speak good English although not many English people go to this hotel-when we were there, there were about 20 English there-the rest of the people staying were German and French. Unlike another review we weren't ignored by them -they were polite and didnt steal all the sunloungers (despite what people say). The people who would be best suited to this hotel are young couples, and middle aged people. There are no facilities for children and due to the steps throughout the hotel is not a good choice for those with mobility problems. It is a good hotel though for a cheap get away and for a base for exploring the Costa Brava.

My family stayed here and had a wonderfull time. The food was first class, with plenty of it, and the staff where friendly and courtious. There where only 4 or 5 other Biritish families in the hotel, but there was a great atmosphere, and the pool was empty, and we vertually had the indoor pool to ourselves! TOP TIP! when arriving at the hotel by Taxi or Transfer Bus, ask to be dropped off at the hotel Car park - which is actually on the 3rd flor, then get lift down to reception, saves lugging your luggage up the steps. Great position though nice walk down a quaint Spanish street selling loads of trinkets to the beach - we loved it!

Superb hotel stayed with friends, the food was excellent compared to others hotels which i have stayed at, the service i would rate 9 out of 10, location is excellent, nice people, good friendly staff.
stupidly after booking a package holiday to this hotel i then looked at reviews which were not great. to start with the hotel is situated at the top of a steep hill which you have to pull your luggage up to. when u arrive you are on the sixth floor with no sign posts where... more
