Culloden House Hotel

Our stay for 2 nights was absolutely amazing!! On arrival we were greeted as if we were Royalty (King and Queen of Scotland). The building is so beautiful, lots of character and warmth. We could have stayed there forever. The food was excellent, so delicious. If you are visiting Scotland, this is one place you must visit...words can't express, you need to see for yourself. My husband I were looking for somewhere to spend a romantic autumn weekend and by discovering Culloden House we really struck gold! The level of service was second to none - right from being met at the beautiful entrance by the manager who carried our bags inside, through to the smiling, helpful staff who couldn't do enough for us. The attention to detail was incredibly impressive. Spent one night at the Culloden House near Inverness. We were welcomed at the door before being taken inside the impressive house. Every room was unique and individual, from the plaster in the lounge and dining room to the masculine whisky bar with it's leather sofas and great selection of whiskies, not that I sampled any. My wife and I found the food and service outstanding at Culloden House. The setting and historical ambience were magnificent. The excellent Scottish staff went out of their way to help with any request. There many many nice touches. We would definitely like to return.

My husband and me were in our honeymoon. We were travelling by car around Scotland and chose this hotel for staying one night near Inverness. When you arrive, you feel like you are in the 19th Century. The big garden is breathtaking and you have to surround it to get to the building. The staff was really friendly and polite and helped us a lot. Rooms were nicely presented although v.hot (managed to choose hotest day of year so far to stay) Managed to arrive late to hotel and missed dinner. We had rang beforehand to say we would be late (arriving at 10pm) however the bar/room service menu was really poor. What was described as homemade soup had come straight out of a packet and took forever to arrive. Breakfast was similar. We were looking forward to a hearty breakfast but where were all the staff???? I fail to understand hotel rating scheme's and when I first contacted this hotel for availability I was somewhat suprised that it was a 4 star hotel charging over two hundred pounds a night, luckily for me I decided to book Culloden House as it turned out to be better than the five star hotels I have stayed in whilst visiting London. Elegant, charming, warm and everything you have dreamt of. Dinners where our highlight and the kitchen should be congratulated on the first class cuisine they turn out. We stayed for a New Year (Hogmanay) package and thoroughly enjoyed it. Definitely one of our best UK hotel experiences. We stayed in a superior room in the main house on our first night, due to a surprise early arrival on our part. Nice big comfortable room; pity about the lights fusing in the middle of the night and no-one answering the reception phone to get someone to put them back on again. So we had the (very bright) emergency light blazing for an hour or so from 2.00am until the battery ran out. Not so good for supposedly 4-star.<br... more

Culloden House is just gorgeous. Full of history and character. The staff are so helpful and friendly. The room we had was HUGE and faced the garden. The bed was massive and very compfortable. The only thing we had a "chuckle" about was that because of the age of the place, the floor is on a huge lean. Consequently cupboards are on a lean against the wall. The breakfast was great. We just loved it here....and will definitely return

We stayed here in August and returned last week after a stressful relocation to Birmingham, my Wife bought tickets to fly between Birmingham & Inverness as a treat as I loved Culloden House when we were there before. Well, what can I tell you, it's even better second time round, no word of a lie. When we walked in the door the "Boss" was there and he knew me by name, how about that!!
