Swallow Craigmonie Hotel

First time visit to Scotland was made a dream by this hotel, myself and girlfriend booked this hotel on a spur of the moment and were delighted with the result. Reviews gave mixed results but after staying we would recommend it to anyone... We stayed at the Swallow Craigmonie for two nights and there were some concerns. The rooms were very small and two looked at walls. They advertise Wi-Fi but we had to be moved three times to get one with even a signal. Only acceptable signal was in the lobby. Front desk was superb.

At a recent reception after a funeral I was disgusted with the attitude of this hotel. The tea was not ready (how long should it take to make a pot of tea?) and this forced people to buy drinks, in my opinion a deliberate attempt to boost the profits of the hotel at a time of great sadness for those involved. This may not be relevant to all tourists but does reflect the attitude of the management of the hotel. I would not recommend that anyone stays there.

i stayed at the swallow craigmonie hotel in april and i had a lovely stay.the rooms are nice, with comfy beds which makes a nice change. the people were so friendly and the food in the restaurant was delicous. would highly recommend this hotel.

I'm not sure that I would comfortably recommend this hotel. On the positive side, the location is good. It is approximately a 10 min. walk into downtown, and the hotel is set off in a nice location. The hotel also does a good breakfast, which is included in the tariff. The rooms are however a different story. I booked a superior or deluxe room, which really fell short of my expectations. Stayed at this hotel with my husband last year. It looked very nice on the website & we were looking forward to our stay. Unfortunately it wasn't as great as expected. We had requested a non-smoking room, but despite this, were given a room that had a very definite stale smell of cigarattes. The decor was very 'twee' & needs updating. The hairdryer in the bathroom looked like a 70's throwback (type you used to get in swimming baths years ago) & would have taken all night to dry anyone's hair. The Craigmonie is Awesome. No complaints whatsoever. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.
