Glenmoriston Town House Hotel Reviews
May 2007, Miss A Chaela
A lovely hotel in the heart of Inverness by the riverside. We got a lovely little room with the view of the river. Room service was brilliant, we ordered a few drinks and found although a little slow, the staff had to go the local supermarket to get what we requested. A... more

Reasonable hotel
from kimbaysun
Stayed here over the weekend 3-5th March 2006. We booked it through late rooms at a rate of £70 per room. We would have been disappointed if we had paid the going rate of £130. Our room was quite small but had great storage space and tea/coffee making facilities. Service in the bar was quite slow but staff very courteous and apologetic. We dined in the Abstract restaurant and really enjoyed the food. Would only stay here again if were allocated a room at the front.
Painful

Old rooms which are over priced. Stuffy restaurant service which majors on being rude. Food was OK, would have been better if it was hot, not luke warm. No management on in an evening. Why do smoking sections have to be at the front of the bar so that when you walk in you are hit with a wall of smoke??? Would have been nice to be asked why I was staying, dining at the hotel, no-one entered into any conversation with me and at this level/prices you would expect hospitality to shine
Sad trip uplifted

Went to Inverness for an occasion that I was not looking forward to and spent some time researching reviews of various hotels so as to avoid the usual Scottish provincial town hotel experience. Found this little gem and was exceptionally charmed. Travelling the distance was worthwhile even if only for the pheasant ballotine which was superb. The staff made me feel very at home and I regret not being able to stay longer. I will definitely go back in happier circumstances.

We were invited to a family wedding at the Glenmoriston Townhouse and stayed there for 2 nights. From start to finish our stay could not have been better. The service was top class as were the bedrooms and reception rooms. All the waiting staff were French and their attention to detail was wonderful. The meal we had at the wedding reception was French and the presentation was a work of art. The meal itself was superb. It was all the little touches that made everything so good such as the plate of homemade shortbread and chocolate truffles that were left in our room everyday to free use of the hotel shuttle bus to local restuarants etc. Thoughly recommended.
loved it

Loved the food, excellent service would recommend it to anyone visiting the area
Lovely hotel, great welcome
from Fiona1234
Just returned having spent fantastic weekend at Glenmoriston. Staff were friendly and helpful. Didn't eat dinner in restaurant but breakfast was great. Stayed in executive room - quite small but well furnished and clean. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel particularly for couples wanting quiet getaway in friendly atmosphere. Will definitely return!
Could do better
from A TripAdvisor Member
Supposed to be a deluxe room but was small and poorly fitted. Toilet seat was only attached on one side and the wardrobe door would not close. We did eat in the restaurant and the food was excellent. However given the prices the service fell below the standards I think they are aiming for. The canapés were dropped on the table with no explanation of what they were. Service felt slow and then three different people asked if everything was OK whilst we were trying to eat our starters. Better places to stay in the area.
Satisfied!

Sent a review a few weeks ago saying how disappointed we had been with the Glenmoriston. Happy to say we have received a letter of explanation and apology, and an offer of one night's free accommodation. They are under-going refurbishment at the moment and we had obviously been in one of the un-refurbished rooms. Satisfied with their reply and offer. Ask for a re-furbished room if you're going!
Overpriced and poor service
from Birdman1969
Stayed two nights here @ £150 per night for B&B - we booked an 'executive' room but it was tiny. Breakfast was a joke. When we arrived at 9am for breakfast there was no milk for cereal, no OJ, no pastries and we waited 15 minutes for a cup of coffee. We were finally brought plates of food that missed items we had ordered. Not impressed! It may advertise itself as a cut above the rest but lets face it, this is Scotland and the service is pathetic compared to the US and Canada - in fact, the rest of the World. The restaurant is grossly overpriced - it may have won this award and that award but what competition does the place have - hardly any and if it was competing against the 'generic' Scottish hotel, its not wonder it won. Eat out at the Mustard Seed just 5 mins walk away - good prices, nice atmosphere and not a French accent to be heard....

Fair hotel, awful staff and I considered it overpriced and the dining "experience" was very pretentious.
The hotel seemed to be run for the benefit of the mostly French staff. I stayed in Room 26 and was woken every time someone else in the hotel used their en suite facilities.
There are better independent hotels in Inverness.
