Garfield House Hotel

The hotel is under renovation at present. I stayed in one of the older rooms. Although the decor is a bit dated, it was clean & plesant. Staff were nice. The breakfast was very nicely prepared. The only downside was that there was a wedding at the hotel that evening and I was not informed about this. It was extremely noisy & the wall were not exactly sound proof. Could not sleep until the party was over and after the drunken guests stumpled back to their rooms - did make a small complaint to the hotel the following morning. Would... more

I stayed at this hotel and found both the hotel and staff great. It was even better than I expected as I had looked at the other reviews for it. Also while the hotel photos here are accurate they don't seem to do the hotel justice, its much brighter and they don't give a real sense of the spaces taken in them.Check the hotel's own website, it's been updated. I was very impressed with the Garfield. OK, you dont go there for location - I was there for convenience after being at a family gathering in nearby Coatbridge. We got a deal of 38 pounds bed and breakfast per single room so wasnt really expecting much to be honest but was very surprised to see the room. It was room no. 24 and very nicely decorated. I Spent 2 nights at the Garfield House, and had an excellent experience. I booked via the Best Western Website, but on arrival the staff could not find any record, however this was no problem and I was quickly and politely checked in. I was allocated room 28 on the ground floor, this room had just been renovated, and the work had been carried out to a very High Standard, the room had a kingsize bed, large LCD TV, lounge area, and superb bathroom. I attended a wedding at the Garfield House Hotel, and would recommend it to couples, and to wedding guests. The wedding ceremony took place in a conservatory-type room, which was pleasantly decorated. With a large wedding party, some seats have a restricted view of the happy couple. Also, it does get rather warm because the staff close all the curtains around the conservatory until after the bride has arrived (I suppose that is to enable the bride to make a formal entrance to the ceremony room.)
