More Traveller reviews of Bewleys Hotel Glasgow
A wee gem!
from Little_red_courgette
I had high hopes for Marks after reading reviews on this website and am delighted to say I wasn't disappointed. Great, friendly but not obtrusive service, wonderfully comfy rooms decorated in the style I wish I'd dared do at home. No skimping on the little comforts - goose down duvets, gorgeous blankets on the bed, plasma tv and a good shower and bathroom. Breakfast was very good too, though would opt for ordering the cooked option as the buffet got a little meagre as the morning went on. Service again was professional and prompt.<br...

Got an outstanding [to good to be true] deal for this hotel on a famous hotel web site.A suite, breakfast, bottle of champagne all for £89.00 a night [suite normally £189.00 w/out breakfast]However the very friendly girl at reception informed us that it was an old valentines offer which the web company should no longer be advertising but the staff here are class and they gave us everything requested at the £89 price. The hotel is very pleasant and central. The split level room was great with a 20 inch plasma with freeview channels in...

Terrible 2nd Time Around!!
from intrinsic
I tend to work in Glasgow several times a month and as a result I have had the experience of most of the hotels in this city. This was my second visit since it's buy out from Bewley's and the first time with my kids. I booked 2 rooms for 2 days for us all to share and checked in at 9pm that evening. Very clean and effecient reception checked us into our rooms and pointed the way to the retaurant/bar. We dropped our bags off and set off for the bar to enjoy a really nice meal in the company of the great bar staff. The kids enjoyed their soft...

Management response from Marks_Hotel
Dear Guest,
Thank you for your recent review regarding your stay at Marks Hotel.
We were disheartened to hear this was not all it could have been for you and issues have been raised, and procedures implemented with our Executive Housekeeper to ensure our standards are kept.
Unfortunately, as our bar is a public city centre bar, we are obliged not to have children present after 8pm. We do however welcome families into our restaurant all evening, so we wish to extend our apologies for any mis-communication regarding this.
We would be glad to welcome you back to Marks Hotel Glasgow sometime in the near future, at which point please feel free to contact me directly.
With kind regards,
Andy McAllister

Well placed and well run
from AnEnglishmanInGreece
I have stayed twice at the Marks Hotel this year. The second time was in March for three consecutive nights, on a business trip. The experience was a pleasure. The reception staff were efficient and most helpful. The hotel in general is clean, freshly decorated and clearly well looked after. The bedroom was not vast but perfectly comfortable and well appointed. The television was excellent with a wide range of channels and a good quality picture. One reason I chose the hotel was free Internet connection. I could not get mine to work; I...

Stylish City Centre Hotel
from JayGee111
My wife and I stayed here for two nights as part of a break in Glasgow. The hotel is right in the centre of town, and close to the main transport links which made it a good base to explore the city. Our room was stylishly decorated and had all mod cons. The bathroom was clean and well equipped. The food was excellent, we ate dinner one night and the breakfast was freshly cooked rather than stewed in a buffet. The service was good, and the staff helpful. I could definitely recommend this hotel to both other couples looking...

Stylish Hotel

Good hotel, great decor and central location. The only disappontment was the bathrooms....fine but basic and let down the overall feel of the hotel which was very upmarket. Staff very friendly and helpful. Would stay again for both business and pleasure.
Great little hotel
from roverCanada
Stayed here at the end of January, '08. The rooms are European-small, but comfortable. Mine overlooked the street, but with double windows, noise wasn't a problem. A little over-heated, but once I found the temp control on the radiator, I got it cooled down. (You can also open the windows.) Good-sized bathroom nicely equipped. The staff was friendly and efficient, breakfast in the restaurant downstairs was excellent but dinner a little disappointing. Good value for the money, convenient walking distance to shopping, tourist highlights and...

Great Choice for Central Glasgow
from faig
This is a great boutique style hotel in central Glasgow close to all the sights, restaurants and bars. The rooms are large and contemporary styled. The bar and grill are also excellantly styled and attract a fairly smart and relaxed crowd. Breakfast (though not a huge range) was cooked to order and was as good as it gets in hotels. Although our rooms were not available when we checked in (it was only 11.00 am) when we did return the bags we had left had already been taken up to our room. As ever the price can vary depending...

Marks Hotel - WOW!
from scrobble
We stayed one night at this hotel - we were booked in for 2, but had to dash off early so they gave us a complimentary upgrade as we couldn't cancel the 2nd night (it had been booked through a third party website). We loved the place from the point we walked into the lobby - the decor is absolutely fabulous throughout. The bed was incredibly comfy, the room was spotless, and the room temperature was just right to sleep. The room was pretty quiet, although we did get some noise from drunk people outside on the street shouting at about...

Wonderful, trendy hotel
from Funfootballgirl
This is a great hotel, and deserves to be rated higher than a 3 star. It has been refurbished recently and the rooms are beautifully decorated and immaculately clean. The ones at the front of the hotel are very light and airy, but all the rooms have a lovely sized bathroom. Bedlinen and towels are great and all the rooms come provided with an iron, little ironing board and dressing gown. Lovely toiletries are provided (better quality than most hotels have I have stayed in). Staff are very friendly and helpful, and will always try...
