Superb Holiday in spite of everything!

"We were booked to go to Fiesta Cala Nova Hotel in Es Cana, through Directline Holidays, who were a superb company to deal with. We were told not to use Norwich airport, our local, as Thomson could not guarantee flights from there, but to opt for Stansted where planes would be more likely to run! This we did, only to be told DIRECTLY we paid our full amount of money that our airport had been changed to Gatwick 180 miles away from us and incurring AN EXTRA £180 between 3 of us to get there!! Furthermore 3 weeks beforehand, we were told our Hotel had closed early due to the recession and we were being moved to Playa d'en Bossa and they would upgrade us from Half Board to All Inclusive. We were SO fed up, we contaced ABTA (this was the 4th time Thomson had changed our holiday airport). BEWARE other customers. if we had booked from NORWICH, we would have had a leg to stand on, because we booked from Stansted, it is considered a London airport so within a radius that one SHOULD be able to get to! After MANY letters, emails, rants and raves all most time consuming, Thomson granted us £70 off the holiday!!! for the inconvenience, so be prepared to pay up a lot more than the original booking and an almost STANDARD airport change!!Don't expect an apology either!!

Ok - the updated Hotel was absolutely fantastic. We didn't really want or need All Inclusive and would rather have had half board, but it did mean we spent less money on drinks, I guess.

The hotel was superb. Location - not half as good as Es Cana (Cala Nova). We went to see our original hotel and it was in a much nicer part of the island. Having said that, Play d'en Bossa, our particular end, was lovely, unspoiled and quiet. The Rep's Lou and Jemma were absolutely fantastic - more in evidence than many Thomson Reps and ALWAYS so willing to go the extra mile! (Especially when it came to car hire!!!)

Hotel superb - they really DID try to accommodate us - we asked for sea view and high floor and we got both (Room 4210 and 4212)- but we did have one hell of a long walk to the restaurant and with 3 disabled people - this was difficult, BUT you can't have it all ways! Beds are 10.5 wide!!! Nobody can complain about the rooms!!

Superb room, superb view. I would complain that the baths are very small, due to lots of wasted room with the Jacuzzi! The power of the shower/bath is VERY weak, so allow half an hour to fill the bath and if you have long or thick hair - it does take a long time to even get it wet!!

However, staff fantastic, food excellent (a bit of a lack of chicken, turkey or white meat) but a lot of pork, steak, lamb etc. etc. Honestly NOBODY could complain about the food OR drink.

Beach - well we had 3 jelly fish stings during the first week but in fairness it was due to bad weather. Then the sun came out and it was superb.

This is a lovely island - we were so surprised. It is beautiful, full of pine trees and lovely sand and sea wherever you go.

Car hire - beware - it is MUCH cheaper to book before you go . . i.e. £57 for 3 days if booked in advance £120 for 3 days if you book over there!!!

Beware of buses - long walks to catch them but well worth seeing Ibiza town which is easily accessible.

A really lovely holiday - in spite of all the hassle. Really helped by superb Rep's - we will be back but hopefully to Fiesta Cala Nova, as the area around is much prettier. Playa d'en Bossa is rather "tripper"-ish - nevertheless a superb beach and quiet at this time of year. Weather mostly really good.

Hotel staff - excellent - would return there and recommend to others.

Fantastic holiday all round. Resort...

"Fantastic holiday all round. Resort itself could use a bit of work, but there is so much in the hotel that its only very rare times you will actually want to leave - when you do, go to Murphys.

Food overall was of a very high standard - a new selection every day we were there (all of it tasting different which makes a nice change from most all inclusives). Nice lay out of bars and places to eat - never too far from a refreshment.

Particular thanks to the entertainment team, especially Michael the very funny English guy, Yuta the Aerobics girl and Lola and Sina the kids team. Amazing shows such as Moulin Rouge and Lion King - you can only begin to imagine the amount of work which goes into making them!

Certainly worth the extra price for the extra star - we looked into the 3 star Club Den Bossa (same Fiesta chain) and could see we made the right choice. I would suggest this hotel to anyone - great staff, great entertainment and great food.

Only downside was the total lack of any kind of Thomson reps. There were enough English guests to certainly warrant at least one rep but we didn't see anyone. This, however, is in no way the fault of the hotel - and the staff were only to happy to help out with any questions which Thomson should have been there to answer.

Thanks to everyone at the Palladium Palace for giving us such a wonderful holiday!

Good international resort

"An international resort of good quality, quite impersonal, with All-inclusive formula. Not too high, with only 2 or 3 stairs high max. 2 swimming-pools, tennis courts, boat, and some other activities ...

Rooms are quite nice, with AC, TV, bath with jacuzzi.

Food is correct, and choice is large.

Staff is smily and helpful, except the guy we met to prepare the boats.

We were there in October, and the beach was really dirty (about 20 cm of algae thickness) and the pools were even colder than the sea (around 20°C).

Pretty good value, but the price is quite high (around 125 euros)

the smell is terrible

"the first thing what hits you is the smell from the sewer plant further up and if the wind is in your direction then look out its so disgusting. We were there for only 3 days and prob to be fair just the 1 day ruined we could not sit out side to eat or drink it made you feel sick.i have to say to be fair the hotel wasnt bad not fantastic but ok.The grill bar on the beach were so understaffed we gave up wwith the idea of lunch. The wine was very poor and we are not that fussy honest you had to add soda water to it to make it drinkable. The food in the main restaurant was ok and if you could get a table out side very pleasant if you dont have the smell. The staff hit and miss, some were really lovely but they didnt rush to serve you at the bars were there was allways a Q they have cocktails but give them a miss we stuck to vodka and tonic in the end the meal in the al a carte was not worth going to chicken grilled or fish with loads of bones or salmon with potatoes the starters were salad bar thats it.There are 2 pools one quite and is very nice much better than the main one which is dirty and the steps into very dodgy i have to say though the sunbeds brill very comfy the bedrooms also excellent the pillows though like bricks had a cricked neck for the 3 days but the vodka helped a little we put our heads in the disco 1 night and there were 2 people in there with terrible music blasting out so can not comment.I can not reccommend this hotel at all because of the sewer smells if you were there a fortnight and the wind was in your direction i think you prob would lose a couple of stone cos you would be feeling to sick to eat"

Great hotel

"When we arrived check in was quick and simple. We were shown to our room and around the hotel by very friendly staff. The rooms were good but beware of the salty water when cleaning your teeth!

The sunbeds are taken quite early in the morning so if you want one by the pool then you may have to get up quite early.

The food was good with a wide variety. However, the desert never really changed.

The majority of people staying at the hotel were foreign but there were a few British people there. The staff were all very freindly but beware you can't wear swim wear in the inside bar.

The entertainment at night is not great so bring playing cards! However, there are plenty of places to go to in the town which is about a 5 minute walk. Special mention to Murphys!!

The maids are effecient and freindly as were all the staff. It doesn't matter if you can't speak Spanish because they know plenty of english.

There is a lot of sporting activities throughout the day which the staff are eager for you to join in with whatever nationaltiy.

The big white couches in the reception area are the best!

All in all this is a great hotel and we would recommend it to people of all ages.

Nice and clean

"Stayed at the Palladium Palace first week in July. Hotel was spotless and quite modern. Not too far from Space which is mental. Not too far from Ibiza town for the likes of Pacha which was also brilliant. Have stayed in a 4 star hotel in Santa Eulalia (Sol Ibiza) which I found to be on a different level.

I dont think I would return to this hotel but compared to some of the mingy 3 stars in Ibiza this hotel is very comfortable.

Alot of Germans and Italian residents (who we liked to call Speedo Heaven from 9 till 11). But they get on with their business quitely.

Again as previously mentioned on other reports, no idiots running about the place getting blind drunk which is also a positive.

FOOD - Usual kinda all inclusive food, watch out for the Pork Chops, cut into mine and it was raw in the middle. I complained and I was told I should ask for well done! mmmmm

Staff are a little miserable and could do with some happy pills to be honest.

Anywaze had a good time.

Quality Hotel

"Booked 4 nights here in June for opening parties. Could not believe how good the hotel was considering we only paid £100 per room per night ALL INCLUSIVE!!

Food was excellent with plenty of variety for everyone. The all inclusive drinks were good quality as well with lots of decent name-brand spirits. It's about a ten minute walk to Space and about 20 to Bora Bora. Easy to get a taxi and there's a bus stop for Ibiza town nearby. Staff were helpful and best of all there were absolutely no chav, adidas wearing brits whatsoever!!!

I will be returning for closing parties in September........

Had a geat time

"Location

Next to the airport but aircraft noise not a major problem and it was enjoyable to watch the planes land and take off.

It is also the last hotel in the resort. Some people object to this as it is a 1.5 km walk to the resort centre. However we found this a plus as you are away from the noise and bustle and the beach is more relaxing.

Accomodation

Four accomondation blocks of three levels. Ours overlooked the quieter of the two pools and although the room was pleasant and spacious our cleaner was not quite as dynamic as some previous reviewers. We found the fridge useful but experienced problems with the hot water supply in bathroom. Any complaints were resolved fairly promptly by the reception staff. The landscaping around the blocks was particulary disappointing and although many gardeners are employed their efforts do not match the results.

Restaurants

There are two, the main one being the buffet restaurant in the main building where the quality of the food was very good apart from a tendancy to murder the vegtables. At breakfast there was a wide choice but nothing inspiring and the orange juice is to be avoided at all costs! Lunch and dinner were a similar buffet style and we could always find something that we could enjoy. Bottles of wine were readily available but all other drinks were waiter or bar service.

At times the restaurant seemed to be too small for the number of guests. Fiesta Hotels definately need to open another place to eat to ease the pressure which was particularly bad if it rained, as everyone decided to eat at the same time (i.e when the facility opened). The atmosphere was slightly spoiled by the number of infants in the restaurant. A separate family restaurant would help.

The low point of the holiday was the Portofino a la carte restaurant. Fiesta Hotel Group clearly have a lot to learn in this area. The food was truly awful, with very limited choice and poor service and only half full glasses of wine. A request for a second glasss was met with a refusal!! We cancelled our booking for the second week of our stay.

Bars

Three of these. Pool, Beach Bar ( Portofino by night!) and Lobby Bar which spilled over into entertainment area outside. We mostly used the latter. Ramos the waiter was very efficient, Samuel was from a different school! (But likeable nevertheless). Sammy, after spending a fortnight forgetting to bring us drinks surprised us on the last night by bringing us drinks when we didnt ask for them!!

If Sam did forget a round he was most apologetic and would bring peanuts.....and crisps to compensate!!

Generally service at the bar was good but you did have to let it be known at times that you were being ignored. Choice was very good and the Irish coffees are worthy of attention. The cocktails were a bit hit and miss depending who served you.

Entertainment

Didnt spend too much time watching this. Usual holiday fare it seems but the novelty of a circus tent was a bit different for shows. Also all the normal daily activities. See other reviews for feed back. We sat at the quieter of the pools where this did not take place.

There is also a night club but this was poorly attended when we were there. Music choice was not good. Didnt seem too Ibiza and Space night club along the road is not under any threat.

Pools and beach

Beach is next to hotel and clean. Sunbeds and static umbrella were 9 euros.

To get a sunbed at the pool involves getting up early to stake your claim. We very nearly became involved in a major diplomatic incident when after lunch one day. We decided to go for a walk along the beach and when we came back 140 minutes later a group of Italians had removed our belongings and commandeered our sunbeds saying that they were entitled to claim them as we had been away for two hours!. Fortunately there were two available adjacent so we took these although I did remove the umbrella of which there were not many. They were not pleased, and even less so when the German owners of other beds they had taken came back and went beserk.

Ibiza

Away from the hotel we found the beach at Cala sant Vicent in the north east very relaxing, clean and picturesque. We also liked the beach at Cala des Jondal at the Tropicana restaurant. Initial reaction here was not favourable as it seemed a bit rocky. However we decided to take a chance and before we got on the sunbed two Tropicana staff rushed out and put clean white sheet on the matress. Quite impressed by this, but it got better. We were then provided with waiter service for the rest of the day. We had barely arrived and we were drinking cocktails! We were quite amused by staff removing pebbles from the sand with fishing nets!

Lunch, if ordered, resulted in the appearance of a plastic table with white linen and cutlery. Clearly not a place for riff raff!! Clientele were well to do and some spared no expense with buckets of champagne and wine. If you go here there is no requirement to order the Palladium Palace's standard picnic!!

Ibiza town is well worth a visit. The bus into town starts outside hotel and is only a couple of euros for two. Disappointing to see a lot of graffiti though.

Summary

Overall we had a great time. Palladium is better than sister hotels in same street, but whether it is worthy of four star rating is debateable. The challenge for Fiesta Hotels is to try and differentiate Palladium from Beach Club next door as it would be better for Palladium to offer something different. In my opinion it will end up the same as Beach Club unless it moves it more upmarket and perhaps adult only.

What a great holiday

"our family of 4 adults have just returned from 11 nights at the Palladium Palace - what an excellent holiday

the hotel is spotlessly clean, not a creepy crawly in site! rooms are spacious and look freshly decorated and get cleaned every day with fresh towels if you want them.

there are 3 bars, beach bar, main bar that serves coffee and make a great irish coffe, also pool bar. the main restaurant does get really busy, you will always get a table but you have to stand at the table whilst its made up for you, i do feel a queing system should be done to enable the tables to be prepared before you enter, this would save the staff a lot off stress..... they go out of their way to help you and apologise for the delay. there is a great selection of food on a lunch time and evening, including a sections for pizzas, pastas, hot varied meals and veg catering for all nationalities, grilled fish and meats then a carvery. there are then 2 huge sections 1 each for salads and then 1 for desserts and fruits. Breakfasts are fantastic with a huge range!!! We used to eat approx 8.15 and at this time most children are outside. The beach bar is great for a change in lunch and lots of choice of fresh meats fish and pizza etc

The entertainment staff are fantastic and work so hard, they do all they can to make your holiday one to remember. In the main bar on an evening you have great waiters to save you being at the bar, as there is sometimes a long wait... a tip helps as they will ensure you are always topped up.

Being to all inclusive hotels before, this is definately a 4*! You also get Little things like FREE water from machines throughout the hotel and bottles from the main bar, and you get crisps and nuts if you ask for them, free safety deposit box (20 euro deposit) also free towels (no deposit) changing travellers cheques are 3% 1.5 euro for a £50

Evening entertainment there is always something on and they have their own big top on the complex where the shows are held. everything ends at 1am

would recommend this hotel, was well worth the money we paid, and would definately return to hotel!!

Paradise for families with young children

"I stayed at this hotel first week of June. It's a former Club Med, and has been taken over by the Fiesta Hotel Group. As an all inclusive it gives very good value for money, with large buffets, all beverages (Bacardi is real Bacardi, not some cheap rip off), but is best suitable for families with children. And that's the problem.

there were just too many children. Everywhere. In order to get some peace and quiet, you have to head for the beach, where you have to pay for your sunbed/umbrella. If you want a sunbed near one of the beautiful pools, get up at dawn and throw a towel over the one you want, and put in some earplugs when you decide to soak some sun there. If you want a relaxing holiday, without the screaming young ones all over the place, go to another hotel ! It's not really a 4 star, more a good 3 star with lots of marble thrown in. Rooms are spacious, and offer good views, but be sure to ask one as far away from the disco as possible, or use your earplugs again... The buffets are nice, but get there early, or all the best bits are taken, and again... take your earplugs ! The hotel is very german orientated, for example, they have sauerkraut for dinner... The entertainment is discreet, they just ask politely if you want to participate at the champagne game/waterpolo/aquagym/whatever, nobody forces you.

Staff is fairly friendly, except at breakfast/dinner, where staff is obviously stressed out with hundreds of kids all over the place (no kidding !)...

This was the fourth time I went to Ibiza, and I love the island. Allthough I am not at all one of the "party crowd", this hotel was too family orientated for my taste, might as well have been in Benidorm...

Nice view from the room onto beach

"We stayed at the Palladium Palace Bank Holiday weekend just for 2 nights. We had a junior suite and an excellent view of the beach. The resort itself is massive, nice pools and bathing areas. We were fully inclusive, it was a buffet breakfast, loads to choose from, even cava was served with breakfast and throughout the day. The standard of buffet food was good. However, I was not too impressed with the 'a la carte' which had to be booked the night before. The food was not that good and we had to fight to get a table as they were fully booked. The staff are really nice and helpful. Would not return again, however I would recommend it."
