Never will I stay again

This hotel claims to have undergone refurbishment, it hasn't. The rooms are still a disaster, holes in carpets, tired old small beds with springs coming through, doors unpainted and paint peeling off, showers that don't work properly, no small fridge for milk for the coffee, no iron or ironing board. The lifts looked like they come from a salvage site and work as much. The public areas are a wreck and the public area toilets are dirty and not cleaned regularly at all, if at all. The gardens, if you would like a walk, are weed infested, unkempt and unmown. The parking lot is full of pot holes and gravel, and that's if you can find a space to park. The reception staff didn't care one iota and certainly were reluctant to assist with fixing the shower and the passcards that needed reprogramming each and every single time that we wanted to re-enter the room.
The only positive thing about this stay is the breakfast, plenty of it and very tasty.
I won't be staying there again, however.

this hotel is a dump

I will never recommend, nor will I stay at this hotel again. It is a dump, a nightmare from hell. reception staff don't care, room was incredibly tiny, hot water and shower didn't work, no fridge, room was grotty and seriously needed major maintenance, TV didn't work, paint peeling off everywhere, carpet had holes in it - fixed with gaffa tape. Lifts were falling apart, heaters and other equipment needed to go to the tip. No fans or means of cooling in the room, windows failed to open even reasonably easily. Our passcard needed re-programming each and every single time we left the room and the staff just didn't care or want to do anything to fix it. This hotel caters for coach tours primarily, they have no interest whatsoever in people who book privately. Gardens were weed infested and unmown, the reception hall was disgusting, toilets in the common areas were dirty and filthy. I do not recommend this hotel at all. This hotel is not worth even spending 1 pound.

Value for money

We stayed at the hotel on their "Summer Sizzler" rate of £150 per couple. This included two nights bed & breakfast, dinner on one of the nights, free transfer to local shopping centre and use of leasure facilities.
Great things about the hotel : Bedroom was lovely, newly decorated and had a great view of Erskine Bridge. Breakfast could not be faulted, buffet with a wide choice to suit all tastes. Dinner was excellent with a choice from a 3 course table-d'hote menu. Transfers to shopping centre went really smoothly with friendly, helpful drivers.
Not so great things about the hotel : Corridors of hotel should be next on the decorating list as the wallpaper was torn off and the carpet ill-fitting and there was a bit of an odour. Staff although helpful enough when asked only gave the bare minimum of detail. Leisure facilities although good were a little neglected, seating in spa was torn and rather dangerous.
Overall great stay for the price but a lovely hotel could be a fabulous hotel with just a little upgrade.

All of the staff were very friendly...

All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. The bar meal was delicious and a good portion. The breakfast was a tasty, huge buffet with something for all tastes. We stayed 2 nights in April and then again 1 night in May. Our room was warm, comfortable, and clean. We had rooms on both sides of the hotel with a wonderful view of the Erskine Bridge, and then of the Clyde looking towards Glasgow. The walking trails were wonderful, even saw a heron. I didn't get around to using the leisure facilities, pool etc., but they looked nice and well kept. And the price was affordable. I'll be back.

Arrived to find the key would not...

Jun 2007, Mrs S Cornwall

Arrived to find the key would not open the door. Maintenance came to the room to open it - the handle fell off!
Eventually got into the room to find it looking like it hadn't been decorated since the 70's (it really hadn't). The bathroom was horrendous. The room was really cold. There were draught excluders on the windows (crisp wrappers, cigarette packages and the like).
We were staying overnight for a wedding and the awful thing was we could see our house from the bedroom window.
The car park is also used as an overflow for Glasgow Airport so it's extremely difficult to park. The children used to be able to play on the grassed area but there are cars around now so it's too dangerous to let your children out to play.
There is a small climbing frame for the children but otherwise, this Hotel is not overly child friendly.
On a plus note, the staff were lovely especially the housekeeping, bar and reception girls.

Used this hotel as an overnight so...
7 / 10
Mar 2007, Mrs E Lyall

Used this hotel as an overnight so that we could visit some of Glasgow’s tourist attractions.
The hotel looks very 60's /70's from the outside very unattractive on a rainy day!
However the reception, bar and restaurant were all of a more up to date decor.
The room was fine but it is clear to see that the corridors need an upgrade [worn carpets and decor].
Our room was actually quite cold, not usual in hotels. I think it may have something to do with the fact that the windows are not double glazed.
We did not have an evening meal in the restaurant but we did have a bar meal. There were no complaints with the food. It was hot, served promptly and priced in line with other bar meals.
The leisure facilities were good. I especially liked swimming with the views over the hills clearly visible from the large windows.
The breakfast was typical Scottish cooked. The service was good and there was plenty food available at the self service buffet.
The hotel itself is set in a grassy area with views over the Erskine Bridge and the river. I am sure it would be a pleasant walk in fine weather!
However there did not appear to be anywhere else within walking distance of the hotel.
