We stayed here for 1 night because we had tickets to see Kylie at the SECC.
This hotel is very close to the SECC. It is about 4 minutes from the conference centre. It is also close to the city centre. You can take the train from Central Station to exhibition centre station. It takes about 6 minutes and is 2 stops. It is then about a 6/7 minute walk to the hotel. Or take a taxi it cost us just under £5 to get back to Queen Sreet Station on the Sunday.
The hotel is on three floors.
Ground level has reception, bar and restuarant.
The upper two floors are for accomaodation.
The rooms are very nice. Our room and our friends room was spacious with a large double bed, sofa bed, TV, telephone, dressing table, tea/coffee facilities. There was air conditioning.
The bathroom was clean with toilet, sink and walk in shower. The shower had a saftey thermostat which ensured that one could not turn the water temperature too high.
The room rate is room only. However you can buy breakfast in the hotel. There is a continental breakfast or full english breakfast. Both are buffet and there is a wide range including:
Fruit juice, Cereal, Croissants, Bread/Toast, Jams, Cold meats, Fruit, Yoghurts.
Sausage, Bacon, Fried Egg, Hash browns, Mushrooms, Tomato.
Tea, Coffee.
Breakfast cost around £6.50 Very good value and highly recomended.
We had dinner in restaurant also. This was because near by restaurants were very busy and had no availabilty due to the Kylie concert.
The evening menu has standard type meals such as; Steak & Ale pie, Gammon steak. Or when a concert is on they offer a 2/3 course pre-concert set menu. The four of us took the 2 course set menu.
I found the dinners to be okay, nothing spectacular. The cost was not expesive and for the money was good value. However if you are looking for something special then go elsewhere and pay more.
Would I stay here again?
YES! Deffinatley if I had tickets for the SECC. - - - Yes if I had a shopping spree planned in the city centre.
Would I use the restaurant again?
YES! for breakfast - - - No for dinner (unless I had tickets for a concert then yes I would)
