Silken Amara Plaza Hotel

Very nice hotel, pleasant and helpful staff. Restaurant very good with authentic Basque dishes. One menu included 3 courses and a bottle of wine for a very reasonable price. Situated right next to bus drop-off from Bilbao. Easy walk to old city.

I'm just back from a fantastic weekend in San Sebastian. I found the hotel to be excellent overall. The location was far from the madding crowds yet only a short stroll from the city centre and beach. As other reviewers have said the bar is good but the restaurant was even better with excellent food and staff. The week end set menu offered a good choice of starters, mains, desserts for just €24, the al a carte mains came in at around €17-€20, good value considering the quality. This is really a very nice hotel but more a business hotel. the staff were helpful and the breakfast and bar nice. The only faults I could find were that the hotel is in a bus station car park which can be a little noisy. The wardrobes were not designed for hanging up dresses and were too short on top of this the maid kept leaving messages asking for the luggage to be put into the wardrobe even though there was no room. Why not give a luggage rack ? The parking is very convenient and very easy to drive into

A 20+ minute walk to the old town and/or the beach, but there is a frequent and reliable bus service. Location also has some advantages over more central hotels, most obviously if you are arriving by bus, but also because car access and parking (public underground carpark at concessionary rate) is relatively easy. We had a nice room, with good facilities, but directly overlooking the bus station which provided some unwelcome noise through the night. We enjoyed our stay at the hotel but it is a bit far from the beach and the old part of town. We rode the bus and then took a cab ride back late night. The staff was friendly, the rooms very nice, and the restaurant was good. The parking is underground next to the hotel in a public lot.

I would recommend this hotel - as others have said it has good sized, clean and modern rooms (very comfortable beds!) and good customer service. There's a nice bar and a good cafe too (didn't try the restaurant). As regards the walk to the old town and the beach, yes it is a bit of a hike but there's a taxi rank just outside the hotel (by the bus station) and a taxi to the old town is less than 5 euros. Job done. Getting home is easy too as there are taxi ranks everywhere. Enjoy San Sebastian - its a quality place!

We read some of the reviews and decided to give this hotel a try as the Maria Cristina rates were much more than what we intended to pay. We were very pleased with our choice. The rooms are large, lovely bathroom, and everything seemed new and very clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful in recommending and booking restaurants, giving directions, etc... It surely is a hotel to be recommened.

This hotel is one of the best bussines hotels of San Sebastian. The attention of all the staff as very high at any time. The rooms are very big, and with a very beautiful view of the Nervion River The breakfast was one of the best buffets I have seen. I strongly recommend this hotel. One of the best I have been in Spain

Book direct it is cheaper! Great place, excellent service, very clean, nice room, and excellent location, next doow to the bus station! and not far from amara shopping centre, and you can also go south the part vija. the part town, about 15 min walk to beach and all the bars, and you can enjoy the lovely walks on the way def recommend this hotel

This is a great hotel. Great service & clean rooms. This hotel is 10 minutes south of the main attractions and the beach, and only a few minutes from the train station. The bus station is literally in the hotel parking lot. This was a bit loud at times but it was a really nice hotel. Great attention to detail.
