Bank Hotel is an amazing building and there is no excuse for missing it on the Mile. It’s a pleasure to be staying in such a central location as it allows a lot of walking and exploring the city on foot.
The downside of a central location is that even after a hard days site seeing, a lovely meal in a local restaurant and a couple of drinks in the bar you find yourself being kept awake by the revellers outside. We laughed the first night. But after the last night we were glad to get home to the peace and quiet.
The hotel is nice, it’s a bit odd though. You do have to walk through the bar to get to an oddly placed door at the back of the bar which leads to the rooms. One night we actually had to ask a group of people to move to get to the room which was a bit embarrassing.
The rooms are lovely and the bathroom was enormous!
Breakfast is a bit basic and could have been a bit more exciting. But filled you up on cereal and toast for a morning.
Overall a good central place to stay to explore, a quirky building with a history all of its own and has retained a lot of its charm.
