Royal Garden Apartments

My family stayed in the Royal Garden Apartments for a weekend while visiting Edinburgh and could not have been happier! The reception was lovely with coffee, tea, fresh fruit, pastries, large plasma screen TV and more magazines and newspapers than you can shake a stick at! My daughter was getting married last month and we had booked several apartments at Royal Garden Apartments as we had been recommended by friends because of location and the suitability of Apartments. I was slightly sceptical, as I had never stayed in Apartments before and I so wanted everything to be right on the day! We stayed only one night in the apartments which are within a few minutes walk of Princes Street and the Playhouse Theatre, where we were attending a show. (A one-night stay is not always available). Having booked a Superior one bedroom apartment with a rear garden view for £115 we were pleasantly surprised to be allocated a two double bedroom apartment. I visit Edinburgh on a weekly basis (2/3 nights per week) & I have made my base in Royal Garden Apartments. When I leave the apartment each week, all the food I leave in the fridge & cupboards is stored for me for my next visit .....and is in the apartment for me on my return. There is so little fuss when I arrive - just how I like it and if I get in on time there is a complimentary glass of wine in the early evening. Great location, great staff - very friendly and helpful. They gave us a complementary upgrade and were very accommodating when we showed up with an additional guest. Very reasonable and they went out of their way to help us with everything. Really nice to have a kitchenette and living area. Really enjoyed our stay and would go back in a second!

It was my husband’s sixtieth’s birthday celebration last week and I had booked a Penthouse Apartment for my husband and myself to stay at Royal Garden Apartments and to entertain our friends. My family and I spent three nights at the Royal Garden Apartments during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this summer and we had the most fantastic time, due in no small part to the accommodation. First of all, the apartments are ideally located and we managed to walk all over the city from there. We had a huge amount of space, affording us and our teenager children ample privacy from each other! We stayed at the Royal Garden Apt for a weekend; booked mainly due to the excellent reviews on this site. First the good: the location was fantastic, and as the weather was nice we made use of the access to the huge private park adjacent to the apartments. The free tea & coffee in the the lobby was a nice touch, although we didn't make it for the continental breakfast or evening drinks they also provide. The not-so-good: the biggest problem we had was with the staff; they were not really friendly at all; kept us waiting for ages... more

I chose the Royal Garden Apartments for a July 29 to Aug. 3 stay in Edinburgh based on the reviews on TripAdvisor.com. I must say I was a little underwhelmed. On the positve side it's nice to have a kichenette and the kitchen was modern with new appliances and all necessary plates, glasses, etc were provided. There were two big closets with plenty of hangers, and the living/dining area was large. I was not disturbed by any noise from other guests or the outside. Stayed with friends in a 2 bedroom apartment over a weekend. Excelllent location & apartment was very good - much better than a hotel & at less cost. Very hot weekend, not complaining, but meant windows had to be open so quite noisy from the street. Garden apartment would be quieter but not a major problem Bottle of chilled wine in the fridge was much appreciated! Will stay again
