Most enjoyable stay at DoubleTree Aberdeen!
I always love staying at DoubleTree by Hilton. Pretty much the same as when i stayed in the Times Square hotel in New York. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. The complementary cookie at check-in is always a nice welcome to the hotel. I have stayed in both the platinum club and in a classic room, both were good value for money. The breakfast was nice. The beauty spa and leisure club is the perfect area in the hotel to relax.

Thank you for your feedback, your comments are very much appreciated. I am delighted you enjoyed our signature "Doubletree" warm cookie on arrival, they are great. I am also glad to read you made use of our leisure club, a great facility to unwind on business or simply to relax in if on leisure. Thanks again for your feedback and your business. Hopefully we have enrolled you up as a Hilton Honours card holder so you can claim your loyalty points on all your future business also. Kind Regards Craig Ewan General Manager

Unless you're a smoker forget it!
Checked in for one night to attend a conference the following day. The bedroom (115) was designated a Smoking Room and smelled badly of smoke. I requested a change but was told there were no non smoking rooms available. Apparently I should have requested this when I booked. I hadn't actually realised that smoking rooms still existed in Scottish hotels. The receptionist offered to send up a housemaid to spray the room which I agreed to. Having returned to the room I decided to open the window only to find that the window did not open anyway... more

Thank you for your feedback, all guest comments are very important to me and my team here at Doubletree. I have just taken over as General Manager, in June 2009, and as a result of your comments and several others, I have worked with the team to decrease the number of available smoking rooms. This number is now very small and one third of the number of smoking rooms which the hotel had back in May 2009. I apologise you were not statisfied on your last stay. Please be assured I take your comments very seriously and can assure you action has resulted since your stay. If traveling in Aberdeen please give us a try and see the differences which have been made. Yours Sincerely Craig Ewan General Manager

An Absolute Nightmare
I arrived mid-evening to be told my booking (which had been in place for well over a month) had been shunted from being a non-smoking room to a smoking room. I was really unimpressed with this, not least because a colleague of mine who had booked later than I had was given a non-smoking room. But to add insult to injury my room faced into the hotel's internal atrium, overlooking the bar. The room stank of stale cigarette smoke (I thought smoking rooms were a thing of the past, surely?!) and to make matters worse, there was no window in this... more

Thank you for your feedback, all feedback is very important to me and allows me to address any negitive issues which guests may be experiencing and allows me to take corrective action. I have just recently taken over the hotel as General Manager , June 2009. I can inform you that we have since then reduced the number of smoking rooms by two thirds of our smoking inventory, in line with current demand levels. I appreciate you had an extremly negitive experience and would appreciate it if you are able to contact me direct at the Doubletree so i can speak to you in person. Yours sincerely Craig Ewan General Manager Kind Regards Craig Ewan General Manager

5 Star Hotel
My wife and I stayed and dined her on a trip to Aberdeen. The room was excellent as was the meal in the hotel and the three girls on duty were first class. We would not hesitate to stay here again or to recommend it to anyone.
2 Star at best, stay somewhere else!
Used to be called “The Patio”. Stayed there a couple of years ago and it was OK then. Stayed recently for a three day business visit, which was thankfully over after two days, as I was ready to check out. As there is a smoking ban in the UK didn’t expect to find myself in a “smoking room”, and was told the hotel is fully booked, that’s all they have. The stairway adjacent to the elevator stinks, and is in dire need of a scrub-down. The hallways were no better, the carpets and walls are stained and dirty with... more
Two-star amenities at Four-star prices
I stayed at the Doubletree by Hilton - formerely known as the Patio Hotel - at the end of March, for a friend's wedding. Being very close to the centre of Aberdeen (approximately fifteen minutes' walk), and with the Hilton name backing it up, we were very much looking forward to a comfortable four-day break. We booked it primarily on my partner's recommendation based on her stay at the Doubletree in Cambridge - which, I would like to add, she says was absolutely amazing. Upon checking into any Doubletree hotel, it is their policy to... more
Nice one night stay
This hotel is now called the Doubletree by Hilton. Got a great rate with the hotel direct including breakfast. We had an early morning flight so the hotel allowed us to check in at noon rather than 2pm which was very much appreciated. Room was clean and tidy. Bathroom had set of toiletries (nice touch). Beds very comfortable which was great after walking round all day. Mum said the cookie on arrival was fab but I couldn't have it as it had nuts in it :o(. Breakfast was scrummy. The chef even made us scottish porridge. Yum! Plenty of car... more
Great location & Friendly Staff
We booked the hotel after looking at the website still detailed as "The Patio Hotel". On calling we were informed it was now part of the Doubletree by Hilton Group. However the two night saty with bed & breakfast in one of the deluxe rooms was fantastic value. We found the hotel no problem, not in the most scenic surroundings but handy none the less - walking distance to town. On arrival we were checked in, provided with the complimentary Hilton Chocolate Chip Cookie (delish!) and shown to our room. The room was bright,... more
Ok, Not great but Ok
Stayed at the Patio hotel since it was close to the local Football stadium. We drove by the hotel 3 times due to it having changed its name to the Gum Tree by Hilton. Had to send a member of our party in to ask if this was the Patio hotel. We were 30mins early for check inn and was told our rooms were not ready, The staff were pleasant enough. The people behind us were checking in as well but they were given rooms right away. They give you a chocolate cookie to all guests on arrival which was a nice touch. The hotel... more
Potential weekend wrecker!
This hotel was extremely disappointing, no where near the four star hotel standard it is advertised as - I have been to better 2 star hotels. Although I spent the majority of my time in Aberdeen out-with the hotel, I still had a terrible experience. Firstly, I had requested to stay in the new part of the hotel and this was closed off due to the time of year – I can understand that staffing levels etc may make this more convenient, but no apology was offered for this. The room was acceptable, although it had seen better days and was... more
