on arrival all seemed ok. Once we entered our room it was a different story. There were 3 adults satying in the room but we were only given one towel, there was mould growing up the bathroom walls and windows in the main room, the floor looked like it needed a good hoover.... more

The travel lodge hotel was the cheapest available, so perhaps you get what you pay for. On arrival the smell of cigarette smoke and maybe dampness was quite off putting but hey, it was thankfully just for one night. The room was clean but also a smokey smell lingered here... more

The car park is extremely hard to find with very limited space. The family room was large and dirty. The windows were smothered with dried food but when we approached the reception a full refund was given for the nights stay. I found this hotel very noisy with all the... more

OK if you get a supersaver/saver rate!
when I say Ok but some problems the problems were really not the hotels fault, welll decent double glazing, I suppose, would solve them!!! Booked here as a central place for my birthday night out and as someone else on trip advisor says it is budget accomodation, so no frills etc. We asked for a room that did not face onto union street and got one right on the corner of union stree and bridge street. THe room itself was average size and I have to say the bed was VERY comfortable, there was only 1 towel and 2 pillows, however a quick trip to reception and we got 2 more pillows and two more large bath towels. There was tea bags coffee and milk and 1 bar of soap. We got a bottle of wine to take up to the room and the staff were all helpful, even reccommended where to eat even though the hotel menu looked ok. We went out for a meal to La bamba a "very lively" mexican restaurant! food great and was within easy walking distance of hotel. CAme back to hotel about 11ish and the street outside was VERY VERY noisy and the attempt at Double glazing was VERY VERY poor. Admittedly I am a light sleeper though in the end tried to make earplugs out of toilet roll and wrap a towel over my head!! But as said the bed was comfy. The checkout was easy and again staff were nice, the underground car park is small but secure and all in all for the £26 we paid it has to be said that realistically it was good value. Very cental, room clean, staff polite and friendly, car parking provided So yes, if not satying at the weekend definitely a good bet, if staying at the wekend I reccommend you are a good sleeper or a set of earplugs!!
oh my god get me out of here
Never But never stay here, i do alot a hotel stays for work, ok its a travel lodge, but the place is the pits, not one nice word for it apart from check out, the place is the pits, sooner spend the night in my car sorry but it the truth simon
You get what you pay for
Travel lodges are never going to be a swanky hotel. They are a cheap, basic place to kip while visiting somewhere. I travelled here with my two mates for some shopping and a gig and stayed for one night. We got exactly what we expected from travel lodges which we usually stay in while we are often travelling around the UK. The location is brilliant, it's right around the corner from the main shopping areas on Union Street. There is some noise on the front area as there are bars around the place so expect it all night. We coped all right with it. The room was clean enough, spacious enough and the bathroom and beds, which are the main things when staying somewhere, were fine. The lodge has a small bar, snack machines and an area to have the usual travel lodge buffet breakfast (the likes of toast, coffee, tea, orange juice, cereal, yoghurt, bacon, beans, sausages,..). It's £7.50 for that which is pretty expensive really so if you can be bothered you'd probably be better heading out and getting something elsewhere. Service from staff was fine during our stay and they were friendly and reasonable (moved us from smoking room we had booked and not wanted to a non smoking). So overall I'd say if you're on a budget and want to stay somewhere central for a short time then go for this place. If you want a comfortable, fancy hotel to stay longer in then go elsewhere as you may not get a good sleep for nights due to noise.
Nightmare on Bridge Street
Just back from a 3 night stay in the Travel Lodge on Bridge Street Aberdeen. Absolute nightmare if you are expecting any sleep, I asked to be moved on the second night but all rooms were full, eventually got moved on the 3rd day only for my room to be given to some other poor soul. The staff fully understand that there are problems with certain rooms in this hotel but continue to put people in them, with no plans to improve the rooms! If staying here a room at the rear of the hotel is a must.
Very Noisy
My first night there got absolutely no sleep whatsoever - thanks to the bars and nightclubs across the road, and the bus stop under my window. Thankfully was moved to a quieter room towards the end of the week! Staff were very friendly and nice, cafe/bar was good, and very good location.
please don't stay here
I was charged £63 for a single room for one night, yet the hotel has the worst facillities of any I have stayed in in any country ever. quite frankly a disgusting place to stay.
Dont stay here if you need to sleep!
My room overlooked Union Street and a VERY loud night club, the music thumped out until after 2am, then the drunks began fighting. At 5.42am Aberdeen city council sent in the large and also very noisy street sweeping machines. Not a hope of sleep, not handy when youv'e business early next day. Other than the noise, the place was warm and comfortable and the staff friendly.
Well....
It's an ok hotel - it's a TravelLodge after all. It's clean, priced reasonably, the bar's nice and the staff are friendly. It's just not somewhere I'd choose myself. It is, however, a little noisy, but that depends on your room.
Noisy rooms
The room that I stayed in was directly opposite the roof of another building covered in air conditioning units, which ran continuously. This made sleep impossible, even although I am not a light sleeper, as the room sounded as if it was situated in a laundry. The travel lodge also refused to put me into another room after I complained. I have stayed in some poor hotels but this is the worst.
Good Value
Our family of four (two teenagers) stayed one night at this hotel upon our arrival from the US. We got a weekend rate of 80 pounds for a room for four with two double beds. It was very fine for us and a great value. The room was clean and quiet and the bathroom was very nice. It is cheaper than any B&B would have been and it is a fine place. It meets the international standard of a mid-range chain hotel but the value was good at 80 pounds. It included a Scandivanian breakfast for four of all the trimmings including three choices of fish and a selction of cheeses. Cooked breakfast was at 15 pounds, a very poor value considering the quality of the free breakfast. The hotel was full of German and Scandinavian tourists when we were there. There is also parking under the hotel. The charge was supposed to be 10 pounds but it was not on our bill. Their recommendation of a neighborhood restaurant Howie was excellent. It is a restaurant not to miss and at a very reasonable price also.
